    What do you guys things about the threaded inserts and the exposed bolts? By the way, you can get the free plans to this bookshelf here diycreators.com/diy-rustic-bookshelf-and-storage/ and get the SketchUp model here www.patreon.com/diycreators

      DIY Creators, another great vid-thank you!
      I’ve never worked with threaded inserts-can you countersing the screw if you don’t want it exposed?

    • @JFKreations
      @JFKreations 5 лет назад +1

      DIY Creators I dig threaded inserts. Use them on my projects too. I think the exposed hardware adds a good look if you do it right. Looks great on a rustic piece like this.

      That is a very nice look. It's not something I'd do myself but once I put something somewhere, I'm unlikely to move it.

      I actually like the threaded inserts and exposed bolts. I like that you try new things all the time and have so much knowledge and cool tricks. Blows my mind how you do things and make it look so easy.
      Thanks for keeping things simple and clear for all of us. You are very inspirational for us creative and like minds!!

    Really nice contrast with the frame vs with shelves. I like the choice of the espresso vs paint a ton since you still get that contrast, but you keep the wood grain throughout. Something like this would be really nice to mount some lights in for a nice indoor plant shelf.

    GREAT limited tool build. Thanks. You've helped SO much. i have a degenerative illness. & haven't actually built since my health caused me 2 leave a completed but unpainted project when a sudden storm hit. Fall became winter& it didn't get cleaned up until the snow melted(VERY embarrassing) Because i know i now would need help setting up & putting away tools i've found your site with 1person builds, technique hacks, & less tools a God Send. I'm not back in the shop yet; but the hope & distraction- thinking of ways to simplify your builds even more... have been a therapy better than any other.
    I've watched & commented on DIY channels for years now, never sharing my situation. But i woke my computer to ask Alexa to order me a Furrino shelf- it has a style like this & tool free assembly. instead i got alerted to this build, watched, printed plans from website & think this may be the one; the build that i ask for help &(mabe with pocket holes instead of dowels) i try. Thanks Again/ Lisa

    I've got tool-envy... :)
    That turned out to be a beautiful piece, even though you used a fairly inexpensive wood. I might attempt something similar. I have a 2x4 cube shelf that I use a 12"x12" basket in each cube, and would like to replace. It's a dark wood like the espresso stain you used, and I prefer either a very light stain, or even just a clear coat, depending on the wood. I like hardwoods, but usually go with alder, as it's generally an inexpensive wood to purchase, has a nice grain, and isn't as soft as some types of less-expensive pine.

    I just finished my closet thanks to you! It's definitely not as good since I only have a jigsaw and a powerdrill but it turned out nice!
    Needed a few screws where the dowel joints didn't came out correctly (no straight cuts with the jigsaw).
    The closet I made is 160cm long, 110cm wide and I got 5 boards instead of 4 since the boards are only 3cm thick.
    I will get a miter saw in the future tho so that everything will align better with each other.

    • @thegodfarter420
      @thegodfarter420 3 года назад

      I don't have a planer tho, so my boards are not perfectly straight as well. I guess that gives the closet a rustic look so it's fine. 😉
