What do you guys things about the threaded inserts and the exposed bolts? By the way, you can get the free plans to this bookshelf here diycreators.com/diy-rustic-bookshelf-and-storage/ and get the SketchUp model here www.patreon.com/diycreators
DIY Creators, another great vid-thank you!
I’ve never worked with threaded inserts-can you countersing the screw if you don’t want it exposed?
DIY Creators I dig threaded inserts. Use them on my projects too. I think the exposed hardware adds a good look if you do it right. Looks great on a rustic piece like this.
That is a very nice look. It's not something I'd do myself but once I put something somewhere, I'm unlikely to move it.
I actually like the threaded inserts and exposed bolts. I like that you try new things all the time and have so much knowledge and cool tricks. Blows my mind how you do things and make it look so easy.
Thanks for keeping things simple and clear for all of us. You are very inspirational for us creative and like minds!!
Love watching you work! Very cool! :)
Truly one of the best woodworking channels and making channels out there. Simple builds, with quality audio and camera work and one cool dude named Glen! Keep up the hard work brother! You are an inspiration p!
I would call myself an advanced hobby woodworker and I really love the simplicity of this look.
I would give this 2 thumbs up if I could.
Very well done.
Really lovely piece (I love the contrasting stains!), easy construction, and very clear instructions. Thank you so much!
Very cool! I think you've created a new category: rustic modern. Well done.
This is amazing! I'm looking to make a plant display shelf for my porch. I love the way this looks! 👍👍👍
Hey Glen! The beauty is the simplicity! thanks for sharing bro! 😊👍👍👍👏👏👏
Thank you, anytime!
Your videos are awesome! You've inspired me to work with wood and I just finished my first picture frame. Thanks for the videos.
I have looked at several different methods of floating shelf installation here on RUclips. I have to say I like your method the best so far. Good job! 2:21
As a daughter of a master carpenter, this was soooo enjoyable to watch. I appreciate great craftsmanship.
Great Job. You made ordinary lumber look stylish.
Haha Thanks!
Loved it. Thank you for sharing. I’m definitely going to attempt that build!
Love the simplicity and look of this piece Glen. 👍
Another DIY video by the greatest DIY Creators amazing craftsmanship strikes again Glen!!!! You're a good man and you're very good at what you do keep up the good work as always man and can't wait for your next video!!!💪💪💪
Really nice contrast with the frame vs with shelves. I like the choice of the espresso vs paint a ton since you still get that contrast, but you keep the wood grain throughout. Something like this would be really nice to mount some lights in for a nice indoor plant shelf.
Nice work Glen! I really like that it's easy to take apart- great for moving! -Steph
You are one talented young man and do cry nice work! Sir, keep it up.
Love your minimalistic design and thanks for sharing! You always make it seem doable.
Brother Glen.... Shweet freaking build man..... I'ma making one ! Thanks for sharing !!!!
Great video and thank you for the clear explination on how to do the Half Lap joint.
Hello!
Recently, I was renovating a 100 year old bookcase.
Very, very similar to your design!
You have a timeless taste :))
Best wishes! 👍
Good looking shelf unit Glen. As an option for the shells, you could also use screws and threaded inserts . Polished brass or stainless steel so the also work as accent pieces
Dude! This is wonderful. Thank you! Making plans for this to go in my office.
Love this simple but beautiful design ❤️. Thank you for sharing!
I actually thought this looks very modern with the square frames and contrasting wood stain colours - the cappuccino stain is a good cost effective alternative for the walnut wood look!
Man just one word for you...GENIUS.!!!
Thank you
GREAT limited tool build. Thanks. You've helped SO much. i have a degenerative illness. & haven't actually built since my health caused me 2 leave a completed but unpainted project when a sudden storm hit. Fall became winter& it didn't get cleaned up until the snow melted(VERY embarrassing) Because i know i now would need help setting up & putting away tools i've found your site with 1person builds, technique hacks, & less tools a God Send. I'm not back in the shop yet; but the hope & distraction- thinking of ways to simplify your builds even more... have been a therapy better than any other.
I've watched & commented on DIY channels for years now, never sharing my situation. But i woke my computer to ask Alexa to order me a Furrino shelf- it has a style like this & tool free assembly. instead i got alerted to this build, watched, printed plans from website & think this may be the one; the build that i ask for help &(mabe with pocket holes instead of dowels) i try. Thanks Again/ Lisa
Hey man..I just love your work....fantastic..!! thank you very much for sharing such wonderful ideas with us.

Nice and I plan on making this one or something like it. My wife came to me and asked for me to make a book case today so I started looking for ideas and different designs. Thanks man.
New subscriber. Love how simply you explain things.
Exactly what I was looking for! So great!
Beautiful work as usual. I think it is fine as is, the stain booboo gives it character. Love the insert knockdown idea.
Thank you, yep you make a point.
Nice job and you used some really smart ideas. I want to try and do myself. Thanks.
Omg i wished you lived in Az !!! I have wanted a shelf like this but even wider and maybe taller your amazing 👍👍😊😊

Beautiful work Glen...as usual and how nice to hear you're donating it to charity. That is a lucky charity.
Thank you, it's great to give back
This is sooo nice! I love your precision. If only I had all those tools 😀
Man you Have great stuff, for a guy trying to start out wood working your videos are great! Thanks for posting.
NIce, I actually was thinking about small book shelf similar to this, I wanted to use some bridle joints on the side supports and mortise and tenon for the cross brace. I want some practice on hand cut joinery. But this nearly exactly mimics what I have in my head!
Excellent work 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Amazing! So neat!😍 I would love watching you do more diy’s 5:24
Love the U shape self supporting system. Very smart 4:32
Love the look, looks great!
Would you ever do a video for modern wall mounted nightstands? I think that would be cool to see how creative you could get with that.
Always a great job, excelent!!
Thank you, explanation are very clear and easy to follow......
Beautiful!!
I've got tool-envy... :)
That turned out to be a beautiful piece, even though you used a fairly inexpensive wood. I might attempt something similar. I have a 2x4 cube shelf that I use a 12"x12" basket in each cube, and would like to replace. It's a dark wood like the espresso stain you used, and I prefer either a very light stain, or even just a clear coat, depending on the wood. I like hardwoods, but usually go with alder, as it's generally an inexpensive wood to purchase, has a nice grain, and isn't as soft as some types of less-expensive pine.
Love the new intro Glen!
Thanks, brother! I have to check that bed out when I get a chance. Looks so dope!
That was amazing.
This channel is great!!
Oooh I love this! I need one for my room
Another great DIY tutorial! You amaze once again.
Thanks bro!
Another good one, Glen! Your daughter is beautiful! Thanks for the content! :)
Came out really nice and simple 👍
Great instructions and alternatives.
Another Beautiful Video Glen! I Dig it! Have A Super Week!.....Gus
Mate, this looks like absolute class. Great job
This is really nice and clean!
Exelente trabajo saludos desde Argentina
I just finished my closet thanks to you! It's definitely not as good since I only have a jigsaw and a powerdrill but it turned out nice!
Needed a few screws where the dowel joints didn't came out correctly (no straight cuts with the jigsaw).
The closet I made is 160cm long, 110cm wide and I got 5 boards instead of 4 since the boards are only 3cm thick.
I will get a miter saw in the future tho so that everything will align better with each other.
I don't have a planer tho, so my boards are not perfectly straight as well. I guess that gives the closet a rustic look so it's fine. 😉
amazing work congratulations
love the look
Wow, just wow
Really enjoyed this one! Good job!
I like that this video/ project use tools most diy hobbyist have. A video series of projects with tools that are more accessible for diy would be interesting to watch. Just a suggestion as someone with limited tools to use for projects, love the videos and inspiration to start my own projects. 3:53
Great chisel work as always. That's like your signature move
This is really nice, I’ll let you know how mine comes out in a few weeks.
