My Dad took me there in 1970 at the Derby on Hollywood and Vine never forgot it. Always wanted to eat at the one on Wilshire but never was able to. Still have the priceless memories.
There was a Brown Derby on St Petersburg Beach, just a short walk from the Colonial Gateway hotel, where my family took me on holiday in 1982. I remember we went there one night to eat, but don't remember any details about it.
So you don’t know that Coconut was spelled with an “a” as cocoanut” in the early 20th Century. I am regularly amazed at young people narrating that do know how to pronounce very famous historical names.
I appreciate your criticism as well as your compliment. If I made a grammatical error, mispronounced something or made a spelling error in my video, I apologize for that. Thank you for pointing that out and mentioning that in the comments. I ask everyone to make a comment to see if I accidentally omitted a key fact or maybe have more information to add to this history. And thank you for your compliment about being part of the "young people" even though I am middle aged who identifies more with the 1980s and 90s then the 2000s and beyond. You made my day my friend and thanks for watching.
I stayed at the Ambassador Hotel in 1975. I believe the hotel had seen better days but was still certainly okay. I did not in those days know anything about the hotel -- that the Academy Awards had been held there I believe the very first time (and maybe subsequent times). I recall seeing the Brown Derby across the street which I HAD heard of -- I think it was in an I Love Lucy episode. I regret not going over there for lunch then and in fact never visited. It would have been so easy to walk across the street...
@@EricCProductions76 @1:12 Why did you put Herbert K. Somborn's name by a picture of RUDOLPH VALENTINO? That's Rudolph Valentino in that picture with Gloria Swanson.
Musso and Frank is frozen in time. One of our favorites, but the neighborhood is deteriorating with a lot of sketchy people walking around and homeless encampments.
I walk by the the original location every morning it’s a plaza now in brown and it’s called the the brown derby plaza and there’s a historic plate and history information
One of the domes still exists atop a strip mall. Eric you can do better work than this. I see your potential but you rush these out with not enough research or preparation.
I guess most of us will know The Brown Derby from the classic "I Love Lucy" episode. Incidentally, Bill Holden does order a Cobb Salad.
thanks for watching

Aww thank you so much for this video! My dear father worked at the Wilshire Blvd one back in the 70’s. Good memories! ❤️❤️❤️
That was Valentino with Swanson in the picture. Trust me, Mr. Somborn looked ABSOLUTELY NOTHING LIKE RUDY!!

There was a location in Arcadia, CA. I worked there briefly as a pastry chef
thanks for sharing that, must have been a cool place to work.
Ohio still has Brown Derby Restaurants open!
There were Brown Derby restaurants outside of California. I used to frequently eat at one in Brecksville, OH.
I didn't know that, thanks for giving me that update.
Those in Ohio were the Girvis Brown Derby. There were many in northeast Ohio. Very popular in the 70s and 80s. @@EricCProductions76
Currently there is not a Brown Derby in Anaheim. Instead, they have Carthay Circle. Parker House Rolls
are $14. No steaks.
Absolutely wonderfully done and fabulous footage

The Brown Derby , The Coconut Grove , Schwab's , Dino's Lodge are all gone. Please El Coyote and Musso and Frank Grill stay in business .
