Original recording of Expose's "Point Of No Return", released in 1985 under the original line-up of Alejandra Lorenzo, Sandra Casanas, and Laurie Miller.
Saaaame!!! ❤ My mom had this old stereo that only played 4 80s songs with included this specific version My cousins and I jammed to the songs when we were little 😎
This is the original 1985 Single featuring Alejandra "Alé" Lorenzo on Lead Vocal! That's Alejandra pictured in the middle publicity pic on this upload. Point Of No Return was re-recorded with Jeanette Jurado, who replaced Alejandra Lorenzo, on Lead Vocal for the Exposure album in 1987. Alejandra Lorenzo also sings the Lead Vocal on "Exposed To Love". It was decided not to re-record Exposed To Love so the "Original" "Exposé", Alejandra Lorenzo, Laurie Miller and Sandeé Casañas, are on one song on the 1987 Exposure album.
It's amazing and wonderful to me that after all these years people are still talking about Expose' in all it's incarnations! This is definitely the original version and just for history's sake... it really is only Ale singing with Lewis and other assorted guys that happened to be in the studio. Sandra (Sandee) never made it into the studio that night! And I (Laurie) was not in the group when they did that recording. I was a solo artist and the stylist and choreographer ...
WOW!!!! Thanks for the clarification. This song brings such great memories of my youth growing up in Chicago in the 80's. Cheers from a Yank living my best life in England!
You guys did your thing, really this brings so many good memories for me of being a teenagers and sneaking into the clubs!!! I also prefer your vocals on this compared to the others girls, you killed it, no doubt about it.
Sandra (Sandee) died of a severe seizure here in Hollywood Florida in 2008. So sad. This was the best version ever. High school days, Miami Vice. 80's were great memories!!!!
@@Laidengizer011 You're just used to the covered version, which is awesome, too ..however, this version was best for the house music mixes (I'm from Chicago, and I remember how it was THIS version that was played in the mixes, prior to the more mainstream version, with the newer lineup) ...It's something MORE about the music, and less about the vocals with this song ..However, I kinda dug how the vocals were on this one, too, which you may hear as "tamer" ...it was more "seductive", however...
Yes Sandee was discovered dead in her Hollywood, Florida home as a result of a seizure in 2008. Next time I lay flowers on my dad's grave, I'm gonna visit her spot. Very sad she passed!!!!
Just because two people have different styles doesn't mean that either of them are not vocalists. That's kind of demeaning to say that. When we first discovered Jeanette she was singing with her top 40 band New Breeze. They may have also done originals too but, singing in a top 40 band is one of the best ways to really develop your chops. I did it for years too. Back then we were performing in clubs that weren't always set up for a live performance, so no monitors and no effects and we always sang live over that booming track. It was challenging at times but we got really good at it. We did that for almost 4 years! I guess that's the rub... when you spend that much time developing something to then be disregarded and have things said like we didn't have commercial success. That's just not true. I know you didn't say that ... but I have heard that said. I'm so appreciative that so many people have listened to this version and love it too.
@@purrangels9585Music is subjective. The re-recorded version of "Point Of No Return" has that late 80s gloss and production. Yes, this is THEE original 1984/85 version. For those comparing on Alé & Jeanette's vocals, lol, its a known fact Sandée was originally going to sing the lead, but couldn't make it to the studio. Alé was there, so Lewis asked her to do it. This was Alé's 1st time in a studio, & she hesitated. But Lewis insisted, thus the end result. Notice her vocals are COMPLETELY different & more polished on "EXPOSED TO LOVE". (Btw, that song was NEVER re-recorded with Ann, its the original girls on EVERY version of "Exposed To Love"). Alé herself has said that Jeanette was a the better singer, but the original girls were also told in the studio "Dont give us STREISAND!", as they wanted to go with the girly voices that were popular in Dance & New Wave at the time (think Stacey Q). The original girls were also responsible for discovering Jeanette! While on tour in CA, Alé decided to leave the group, the girls saw Jeanette playing with a local band, she had a good voice, and even looked like Alé, so they asked her if she'd like to take Alé's place, & the rest is history. (Alé replaced herself! -lol) - One last note, the original girls back vocals were left on the 1st album. So whenever u hear the chorus on "Come Go With Me (Oh-Woah!)", etc, YUP, thats the original girls! ;-)

I believed this was the raw and rushed 1984 release from Pantera Records, but the uploader (seminole06) mistakenly wrote 1985 in the title. Anybody who keeps comparing Ale's vocals from this 1984 track to Jeanette's 1997 track, and says Ale's voice was too weak, needs to listen to the actual 1985 re-release from Arista. Ale's vocals were much louder in the Arista's 1985 re-release, and the background music is almost the same in the 1987 re-re-release with Jeanette on leads. Exposed to Love is the track that really showcased Ale's vocal talents on the Mic. There were 3 releases of the Point of No Return song: 1984: Ale, Pantera Records (the one you're hearing now) 1985: Ale, Arista Records 1987: Jeanette, Arista Records Ale had the softer sweeter voice, while Jeanette's vocals was more cheerful and powerful. Can't go wrong either way. Ale had a wide range of vocal talents (just listen to all 4 of her songs and she sounds different in all 4 songs), where as Jeanette's vocals were consistent and perfect to dance to.
Hi Don, yes the Expose "Point Of No Return" is the original version on Arista being played in this video (either this is a custom edit that the poster posted or he has the Arista 1985 7" single because the 1985 Arista 12" single did not offer a shortened version),the Arista version released in 1985 on a 7" 45RPM single is clearly not the same edit/mix as the original 1984 Pantera 7" 45. I posted the original Pantera 45 for reference. Here is the link ruclips.net/video/X7u4tma26kc/видео.html
@@HitsTownUSA This is the full Pantera version that was edited for the Pantera 7". It got released on some versions of the Exposed album (not sure how many had it, but it got replaced at some point).

I grew up in South Florida and this was the first version I heard. I saw the original 3 do this at a club. I always preferred this version to the 1987 redo. I also preferred the original girls.
I saw expose in San Jose Ca in a small club.the place was standing room only it was so packed they were not letting any more people in.what a show 3 hours well worth it
They had other goals and desires. My sister left first, then Ale and them Laurie, Jeanette, Carmen aka (Gioia) & Annie, are all my dear friends. I love them too. But The ORIGINAL Xposed/Expose' were more inovative and creative and had more flare and pizazz then the secong lineup. Dont get me wrong, I love the second lineup, but There wouldnt be all these girl groups if it weren't for my sister, Ale, & Laurie. This is before Hi-N-RGY music changed names to Freestyle. Yes! Original version! Would get bummed out when I’d get super excited to hear it on the radio and then it was the 1987 version booo. This one is totally the jam!
Just my opinion. I was there in the clubs when both versions were out (one in 1985 and the other in 1986) and the first one had a more raw feel to it while the second sounded much too commercial/poppy.
Totally agree. When the original version came out it caused so much excitement. Anywhere the song was played people would go crazy. When the re-recorded version came out it got airplay but no one really cared, because we all heard it before and a better form

Thanks for responding back with all the information. When you like a band, and a loose thread emerges, you feel that you owe it to the original girls....to know their part of the bands history. Thanks for telling it.
the best version of this song
Yes, They were, We dressed to impress, Last time this worlds going to see a generation so cool like us. And god bless the originals of expose'. Id play this song often just to get ready to got out, dressed like GQ with bad ass cologne, cufflins, stick pin, 300 dollar feragamos, and a mercedes 2 door coupe, To join others in the best dance steps every invented. I really liked to see ladies do the running man. Wow, we were as high end as they have ever been. We walked this earth!
Sim,meu tão feliz anos 80!Época inesquecível.
@Nawno1313 I am a 80's baby so I didn't get to experience a whole lot of this era cause I was a child. Fortunately my parents had good taste so I got to listen to great 80's tunes. I always appreciated 80's culture. Today as an adult I truly miss it.
These ladies were fantastic, all the original cuts from X-Posed/Exposé we gritty club sound of the 80s I especially love exposed to love (original) but can't find it anywhere .
Just look up "Exposé - Exposed To Love", & click on the 6:21 Extended Version. It's the original. Ur welcome. ;-)
Wonderful memories of dancing to this groove at Baxter's in Westwood in July 1986.
This was the better version! I first heard this song in 85! 😍
I love this song. It takes me to fantastic old school times! Expose also played it but in a different style!
Thanks for posting this ! I'd never heard the original before. I have to admit that I MUCH prefer the second version (with the definitive Exposé line-up), but it's nice to hear the first version.
WoW! This original Jam brings back memories, I had just graduated from High School, and would hang out at Max's 101 in Tempe, Az, saludos from PHX, Az.
I was heavy into Expose. Cool hearing it again! :)
So many people are missing out on a great time and era....
There were 3 releases of the Point of No Return song:
1984: Ale, Pantera Records (the one you're hearing now)
1985: Ale, Arista Records
1987: Jeanette, Arista Records
Ale had the softer sweeter voice, while Jeanette's vocals was more cheerful and powerful.
Tx. Didn't realize that. Just heard the '85 version. Better than 84 for sure, but still prefer the '87 one.
This song took all of us to The Point Of No Return.
Best version + personal fav! SHAME replaced but HAPPY 2hear again Thx4post! 🔥👌🏼🤩
Saw the original Expose at Club Z on South Beach 1985. Love this version!
LOVE the original always!
An audience of stars where everyone was a celebrity and the stage took a place behind the more interesting club dance floor and cocktail lounge. The peak of mankind. The time the children of the gods walked this earth and all that remains is for others to imagine or remember.
Ale (Alejandra) the lead vocalist found Jeanette Jurado to replace her. Ale moved on and did solo and had a hit with "Stop Me If I Fall In Love".
this is the absolute better version of this song takes me back
The original version is the best one. 💜
I grew up in South Florida and this was the first version I heard. I saw the original 3 do this at a club. I always preferred this version to the 1987 redo. I also preferred the original girls.
Wow this is one of the first songs uploaded on youtube. Cool
Expose and Cover Girls. Two of the BEST 80's girls groupd. Besides AWESOME voices, these girls were FREAKIN HOT!!!! Schurr HS- Montebello, Ca #1
the original version, the best version !!!!!!!
This is the version I have on 12" and was the version I played on my sets.
I was a dancin' & breakin back in my day!
Members ONLY jackets, Jordache jeans with Jelly Bean shoes. Those DISCO days were the BEST!!!
Yes Sandee
Dont hate appreciate. Xposed.
I remember jaamming to this classic in back of my cuz caprice. Classics never get old. love them
Yes! Original version! Would get bummed out when I’d get super excited to hear it on the radio and then it was the 1987 version booo. This one is totally the jam!
Can't forget the 80's...... they sitll ROCK!!!! and keep on dancing... oh yeah!!!
thanks
Just my opinion. I was there in the clubs when both versions were out (one in 1985 and the other in 1986) and the first one had a more raw feel to it while the second sounded much too commercial/poppy.
Totally agree. When the original version came out it caused so much excitement. Anywhere the song was played people would go crazy. When the re-recorded version came out it got airplay but no one really cared, because we all heard it before and a better form
this song is one of the most recognized hits from my time .....35 yrs old and still going STRONG
I prefer the version with Jeanette's lead vocal, but Ale's voice is still perfect on Exposed to Love
picture it -- 26 y.o. I listened to this on my personal stereo while crossing the SF Bay on the SF/Sausilito GG Ferry after work with a cocktail in hand. hope there are others who also have sweet memories of those times -- if not remember that NOW is your time. make wise choices b/c your memories are all you will really have. make them special. NO REGRETS!! TO HELL W/ GUILT AND SHAME. xx
Before fifth harmony we had this 80s group.
+John Avenger these girls are 100% better than that "fifth harmony"
true Miami Latin freestyle! The 80s ruled in this era regarding this type of music
!
THIS ORIGINAL GROUP OF GIRLS..ARE REMEMBERED AS "THE FIRST AND ONLY ORIGINALS!"
Heard a brief clip of this song yesterday and I hadn't heard it since... forever... had to look it up.
There's this version, that version... new version, miami version, radio-mix version, and several ~live~ versions.......... but there's nothing like the ORIGINAL.
Best dance hit......... EVER!
Oh! Oh! Ohhhhh............. !
Relatively hard to not fall in love with this first version. The remake is definitely like cheating once you have the answers and how do you NOT fall in love with the fact that you can hear the beauty of their innocence in this version? #rawandorganic
I was mad in 87 when i heard that remake
Man it's been forever since I heard this version.
Wow. I hadn’t heard this in years. I still prefer version w/ Jeanette, seems to have more passion in it.
Expose baby!! Loved them!
This is the version on my "Exposure" vinyl album! The CD version I upgraded to has the 1987 version. So this version (1985) was used on the Expose' debut album even though the line up was completely different !! how weird.
Yes, you are correct! I have Both LP's with Alé's leads, AND Jeanette's version as well, on the other LP! Love BOTH of them equally ❤️!
I saw Expose 2 yrs ago at Epcot and they were great.
A Original Classic 1985..
This hits different when u have heard the CALLING!❤
roller skating rink Jam #1
this is one of my favorite songs of all time! and they rock in concert... good times..
I Love them better than the second group!!!!
Lol👌
does that bring back memories. There used to be a club in TDC south korea called, Studio 54, that would play this every night, sometime several times a night. The year was 1986, come on back.
rupaul's drag race bought me here, i love the darienne lake and ben delacreme lipsync :3
Though this isn't the version they did on the show. This is the original.
...good luck, and DON'T fuck it up!
Thanks for taking me back to Honduras ,wow everything was so nice back then .
