For example, a restaurant may ask for you to sign a waiver that you won't press charges if you get food poisoning from their food, but that still doesn't allow them to intentionally poison the food and you can still press charges in case that happens. Same situation here, if the company is doing something illegal and you've been part of it, you're basically forced by law to report it or otherwise you'll also be held accountable for conspiracy/accomplice. A contract can't make you do something illegal so MrBeast is on the fault here

As an attorney, there are three important things to point out about the Cease & Desist Letters.
1. You are correct about NDAs! Employers can't force their employees to engage in illegal conduct, and they can't prevent the employees from reporting this conduct. NDAs only apply to illegal conduct when they're part of a settlement offer.
2. Both letters reference the NDAs and the disclosure of confidential information. If everything was untrue, they'd only be able to sue Dawson for defamation (making false claims). Therefore, the letters add more credibility to his claims.
3. Dawson's video was surprisingly thorough. There are a few parts where his language wasn't the best (such as using absolute terms like "never" or "always"), but I highly doubt MrBeast wants to sue him and give him access to discovery.
Also, as a side note, being a youtuber doesn't give you a free pass to engage in illegal conduct, like rigging contests and running your own lotteries. The fan argument that "well, it's for entertainment, so of course it's fake," is just ridiculous.
Couldn't have said it better. As a suits expert myself, Dawson has grounds to bring up whatever he wants regarding the lotteries since they were illegally ran in the first place. Excellent legal cover. Not to mention essentially every piece of information brought up was backed by solid evidence to refute any claims of defamation. Whatever firm decided to pick up his case and throw empty threats regarding the C&D must be pretty desperate for some money or attention.

Its illegal in TV shows, and perhaps because MrBeast are making youtube video its in the "grey area" but the reason it being illegal is because its involve a prize that are promised to be given to winners, well if its rigged then its just dishonest to contestants.
People spend their resource to be in a game, that truthfully they never had a chance. Not to mention that in TV shows prized game, there are a lot of things to be inspected to make sure each participant have a fair chance. Meanwhile in the allegations by previous participant in MrBeast game of hide and seek, some of the participants were lied about banned area for hiding spot because its "dangerous" when the reality is its later on used by MrBeast associate to hide and to win the game.
That would make it that the money are used as a bait for people to be used as entertainment. Thats why game shows with prize that are rigged/faked are illegal. Its dishonest and exploitative.
Honestly I dont care if it's scripted, but the fact the contestants get injured is the worst one, starving and lack medical? Nah man, this man need to go to jail, permanently.
Also given that defamation lawsuits always place a strong burden on the prosecution to plaintiff as a means to protect against encroachments on free speech, I highly doubt a court would find him guilty of defamation, even if some details of the video are a stretch, as they are grounded in clearly defensible claims with strong evidence toward his accusations of illegal lotteries.
