Instead of buying an iron a cheaper alternative is hanging the things you need straightened into the bathroom with you during your shower, the steam works out the wrinkles so it saves time and money, I learned this trick from a dance teacher about a costume!
Thank you!
But how do you keep from accidentally splashing it??
+Katy CUNNINGHAM you dont keep it in the shower lol you hang it on the door or if you have towel hangers hang it there
I just finished my sophomore year in college and there were a LOT of things I wish I brought and wish I didn't bring. I wish I bought a water filter too, our school's water was really foggy, and I was deathly afraid of drinking it or using it for making coffee or hot chocolate. It would have saved me so much. Also, something I did have and I advise everyone to get is bug traps and/or bug spray like Raid. My college is surrounded by a wooded area and bugs (especially ants) liked to make appearances in my and my friends' dorm rooms. I had ant traps and Raid ready in my dorm both freshman and sophomore year and it SAVED me.
Something I wish I didn't bring was all of my DVDs and ALL of my clothes. I didn't watch any of my DVDs, and they took up so much space. Also, I barely had room for all of my clothes, so I decided to switch out my clothes everytime I went home. It saved me a lot of space.
Good luck to anyone starting college for the first time in the fall! I hope my post was useful!!
BeMyGuest A good way to save room and bring all the DVDs you want it to put all of them in a CD case! Best decision I've made!
yeah I planned on doing that! I couldn't find a CD case anywhere near me, so I went with a pink container that could fit all of them. I should start looking for one, thanks!!
BeMyGuest Hey, I had your same problem with the DVD's and I found myself a DVD case at Target for cheap. Plus, it fits a lot of them, so go check em out there! By the way, your idea of getting Raid helps me because I never thought of getting that, so thanks!
***** of course no problem!! the thing with the DVDs also is that I never had time to watch them either, so they just sat there collecting dust

Great alternative to paper bowls/utensils for taking food away from the dining hall is a tupperware container and metal utensils. You don't have to keep buying more, environment friendly and it's easy to transport your food and keep it protected from dust and the elements if you're ever walking outdoors with it.
steamers are really helpful and a great alternative to irons! :)
thanks for da tip!
Dandanpong Yeah, my older sister (finished with college) bought one when she started and she still uses it. You can buy a small compact one, and then you don't need a large clunky ironing board.
Instead of paper bowls just buy a set of tupperware/plastic containers and utensils so you can microwave, refrigerate, and store your dining hall munchies more easily (plus, more environmentally friendly)
Bring a full set of dish ware! You won't need more than one but like a bowl, plate, cup, mug, and utensils was definitely something I needed and had to buy once I got to school. My dining hall was right downstairs but I ended up using all of those very very frequently either for food I had delivered or if I made ramen or instant oatmeal or something :)
Hannah Michelle I like bringing 2 cups just because if one is being washed then I have another. If I'm also having a friend over and need a cup it's great to have that.
Hannah Michelle A
I don't iron shit
lol
Same
Americans...
Alex 0202
The girl in the video is American, you idiot. And she irons.
You seem so much more mature from your first day of college videos. Not like old but mature.
I feel dat! good to know I've grown in college
+Katherout you coming to be me ugliest you can always talk to me 104mwanza

This is so ridiculously helpful!! I am not going to college for another year but it's really nice to start thinking about what to bring!
TheKgstyle YAY glad i could assist ya
The lighting is amazing in this!
I would love a video with tips to study, take notes and being organized! Thanks :)
Super helpful! I'm class of 2017 so I'm starting to get prepared for college
Same!
Same here! I'm so excited
A shower caddy can still be good if you're in a suite. You're sharing with 4 people usually, there isn't that much room for everyone's stuff.
I've only been watching for a minute and I just really wanted to tell you how much I appreciate how real you are in this video. Almost every college advice video I've seen are from girls who appear very fake, or almost ditsy in a way, and I love that you come across very educated and wise. Thanks for the great video! I subscribed
Lysol wipes are a must have. Between sleepovers and sticky sandwiches, your room will be dripping with dust and germs. Lol. I also found candles very soothing when studying. Another thing is medication and first aid. Make sure you have alcohol swabs and bandaids, even though there's probably a emergency team or health centre, you never know. Oh. And get fabric sheets for when you're doing laundry. I always forget them. Best of luck!
this august will be my sophomore year in college and one thing I would say to help you pack your clothes is to pack it by season! It helps with space and you're most likely not going to be wearing that winter coat in the beginning of the school year anyways. Also, the Brita filter is a must!! or get those water bottles with the built in Brita filter. super helpful :')
Starting my first year at FGCU in two weeks so very helpful! My roommate, who started over there summer, said that a stain remover(like a stain remover pen) came in handy, not only for her but also for people on her dorm floor.
Bring a fan, it's good for blocking out noise when you are trying to sleep or study and keeping you cool
What lens and lighting do you use? The quality in this is amazing!
Not yet in college, but I've heard having a personal printer is a good idea for any last minute essays that you can't wait through the line for a public printer
Great video! In regards art type supplies, if you're an education major (Early Childhood/elementary), you will need some school/art supplies. Also, a Keurig or coffee machine is a must, at least where I went to college, because the dining halls weren't open all night and yep, my friends and I loved a cup of hot tea or coffee, even at midnight. 😊
I'll have to save this for a year from now...
I wanna go to college so badly. But I'm class of 2020 :/
+Pikacute Enjoy being young man, you only get to do it once.
me too 😢
I'm in the class of 2021 and my brother is 2020
I think im class of 2022:/
im also class of 2020 cant wait!
OMG i was just hoping that you would upload a video and here it is!!
Me too!!
staplers, scissors, tape things like that are quite useful even though most of the time they are forgotten.
I just want to thank you so much for all your college videos! They've definitely helped ease all the tension I've had about college! You are such a beautiful human being! 💖❤️
I am going to college in the fall and I had compiled a list of things I needed but a lot of the stuff you said, I hadn't even thought of! So thanks!!!
Yaaay thank you so much for this video! Was waiting for it. Thanks for being such an amazing, helpful, college sister-like figure ☺️
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL SO MUCH!
my favorite things -

Jasmine Shao literally why did u say that now all i can pay attention to in this video is every time she says um
It's not good to do homework or studying in bed? I don't know how not to lol.
yay! so glad you're uploading more frequently!
rockstarL98 :-)
Question for anyone out there...I'm starting college in August and a lot of my clothes happen to be workout clothes; among those, about half of my shirts are t-shirts I bought or won at track and field invitational meets that I competed at in high school. I'm not planning on taking any high school memorabilia, but do these count and will I be judged? 😂 thanks!!!
I'm so nervous yet excited
some people do actually used color pencils but it depends on your note taking style, some people need colorful notes to help them, so it would be useful to them but not other people.
My dad worked for the Los Angeles dept of water and power for over thirty five years. He can attest to the fact that Los Angeles has some of the cleanest tap water in the country. (Seriously) And yet after having grown up there I can say that even so, most people that live there are bouji and still drink expensive bottled waters.
Yeah good idea about the storage bins I'm only going to buy 2. Mostly for moving my stuff into my dorm . I'll probably only keep one with me.
A three-hole punch & binders are very helpful.
The videos you post are very helpful. I'm just about to start college and I will be in a suite as well so your tips were very helpful
I am in my Junior Year of high school... I have been planning on stuff for college & just wanted to say thank you for the helpful tips I am truly going to make sure I save these!! And I Love your videos!!!
I'm so excited for college....
good!!!
I love these type of videos, and this was super helpful for the rest of my college years even though I'm not a freshman anymore! I'm doing a college series too if you wanna check it out!!
I would bring a coffee pot and a thermos, if you drink coffee. Saves money and time from going to the dining haul. And HAIR TIES in bulk, some in your bag and some in your room, they're important and nobody wants to run out of them. And Band aids they're really really important.
Fun fact for ironing use your hair straightener!
Also fun fact, you'll probably burn your clothing if you do this without doing your research
Done it plenty of times. as long as you do it on clothes you can use an iron on and aren't stupid I promise it will be okay. Like run it the same speed as you would your hair just have to go over it a few times.
you are the best youtuber
AWWWWW I'm glad I'm able to do that in my videos 💕
Just about to start my second semester of senior year and I’m having a college-panic induced planning fit lol
THANK YOU for these college videos! more please!
Olivia Perez COMING RIGHT UP U DON'T EVEN KNOWWWW
This video was super helpful, as are all your other videos. And really only 5 rainy days? I live in Florida and it rains all the time, but I'm never inclined to bring an umbrella, I just deal. Must be a Floridian thing. Hope you're having fun in China!
I'm loving it in China!! it probably is as humid and rains as much here as it does in Florida though!
Katherine you're seriously my fave youtuber, thanks for being cool and existing. Also, REPPIN MARCHING BAND TRUMPETS ON RUclips GO YOU 🎉🎺
Brooke Vaillancourt I WILL REP TRUMPETS TIL THE DAY I DIE!
Instead of paper bowls, my sister brought a set of (durable) plastic bowls/plates/cups as well as some metal utensils; she reuses and washes them regularly. A lot cheaper and better for the environment
"I didn't bring any raincoat or umbrella.." I'm planning on going to HSU which rains all the time. but I do get that you went to USC bc I wouldn't bring them to SoCal either.
Riana Jae that's so cool that you go (or went) to HSU! I'm born and raised in Arcata and basically everyone had parents and family that worked at HSU.
I remember watching like a college food hack video for her a long time ago
I have been living on campus in norway for the last year, and we had like our own bedrooms and shared bathrrom with one person. and I ended up living alone there from like january to july.
and I had way to much stuff with me, but I used most of it actually
I'm class of 2018 for high school and really want to go to a university but my parents can't pay for college how would I be able to do it?
try to get a scholarship
My family also couldn't afford college..so my older sister kept up good grades and did extra curricular activities during high school and because of that she got a Grant and her first year of university was FREE! Also try scholarships..there are so many you can apply for and they're pretty easy! Also financial aid (FAFSA) is very very helpful, basically it takes your parent(s) income and depending on how much they make, the government will give you money to put towards college.
Don't lose hope and stay positive because it is possible you just have to work harder than some others but that's never a bad thing!
I'm personally going to community college for a year or 2 and then transferring just so it saves some money! :)
Good luck!
If you graduate from high school in the top ten percent of your class, The University of Arkansas offers a full ride for four years.
+Marissa Wilson really!! I'm from Chicago and out here you don't receive a lot of money for financial aid for school
I understand that completely! There are some great schools that offer full rides for students in the top ten percent especially if they are Valedictorian or Salutatorian. The earlier you start the better. You can also look apply for the Posse Scholarship which covers tuition for four years at one of their partner schools.
This video is so helpful! Thanks! You go to USC right? I am starting as a freshman there this fall and I'm super excited!!
I go to college in L.A. county too and concur about the brita filter. That is not an optional purchase lol especially because the water is contaminated from nearby fracking :/
Should I buy supplies before school starts or after classes start? Because at least in high school teachers told students in the first day what they would need
Some people benefit more from taking notes on their computer! Not everyone of course, but I have arthritis and prefer the ease of editing and organising my notes on a computer.
Omg yes new video!
brita water bottles are also really helpful
Im a freshman and going to Hawaii to study. This video is so helpful but if you don't mind me asking. Do you have any tips on what to make sure to pack when flying there? For my dorm stuff, I plan on buying the stuff when I get there.
This was really helpful. Thank you
hopefully i'll be travelling 3000 miles across Canada to the university of my dreams :)
crossing my fingers for you!!
Are you allowed to bring in a friend into your dorm from another college to like hang out and sleep?

Hey so I am going to be a business major this fall and I was wondering if you have to wear business clothes to class. Or if I need to bring business closes for like presentations and such.
Juliet Dazzle you should definitely invest in a suit at some point and bring business casual clothes because your classes may or may not require you to wear them for presentations but you'll go to events that require it
BAAAAND
did you make a video for moving to a china college
What do you use to edit your videos? :)
