Grew up in the 70's with my dad and then my brother working as mechanics for Ryder. I always loved hanging out at the shop and talking to all the drivers. Really loved it when we would go on a service call and had to take a sub tractor out on a call. This slide show brings back so many memories. Thanks.
I learned in an 86 Freightliner exactly like the one in the picture all-white 350 Cummins with a 9-speed loved most of the pictures the truck she showed love the FLD freight shaker and the classic
Double bottom dumps: ie /gravel trailers. Up here in western Canada, we call them ' belly ' dumps. Some, can close under load (air cylinder rams) and some, CANNOT. There are 2 basic types, the ' clam ' belly dump, where the 'clam' is two huge half-moon steel rounds, open by air or hydraulic rams. These, are IN LINE WITH THE length of the trailer, on the bottom. Very good, for dropping hot asphalt aggregate, in a nice long, neat row, in the middle of the road paving process, for the paver. I operated, both types of belly dumps; those that CANNOT close under load, and those THAT CAN, width-wise for gravelling gravel roads, and hot asphalt aggregate. (keep that AC on ! )
I believe I might have found the exact truck in the thumbnail, the k100 Cabover? Yea I found that looks just like it let me know if you would like to see
They still do in California and in Utah and Nevada they pull double 45s. In Oregon Washington Idaho Utah they drive 4 axle trucks with 4 axle trailers that can gross 105,500
My dad was a trucker all his life, I started in 86 been driving ever since, lots of good memories from your video... thank you..

Just imagine the stories these trucks could tell...
I wish I could hear them. I wish I had recorded my grandpas stories before he passed
Rode with my summers from July 71 to September 84.Took my last ride with him September 86.

The good days no punks
Just radio Rambo’s and tall tales at the lunch counter
When Americans lived in America.
What does that even mean?
You changed the pictures too fast
It was hard to read all the captions
I started in the early 90s

Imagine if Swift still pulled doubles with all the steering wheel holders and unexperienced noobs they hire today
