I'm American; and I have been learning the Trans-Atlantic/Mid-Atlantic accent. I tend to use American pronunciation for short vowels (as in mat, met, mit, mock, mutt) and rounded British pronunciation for long vowels (as in mate, meet, mite, mote, mute).
Karen's first reading sounds like an American accent. She speaks clearly and has a lovely speaking voice, but it doesn't sound like mid-Atlantic to me. Susannah, thank you for these videos. Please keep doing them.
Thanks for your comment, Cynthia. The mid-Atlantic accent is such a nebulous thing with such different versions whether it's for voice over or imitating the Hollywood movie star way of speaking from the last century. I look forward to playing accents with Karen again when our schedules permit. :)
This is so hard for me, maybe because I'm from Texas. I can't seem to recognize, or hear, the differences in your pronunciation. Like the name, Mary. Both of you speak beautifully. And I know I sound like a hick. I will keep trying though!
Absolutely loving your videos thank you
Thanks for your sweet comment, Traxxem
I loved this exchange. Please, give us more Susannah!
Kevin! Good to see you here. I hope all is well in your world.
@@susannahsvoice always a pleasure to hear you speak. I’m well Susannah. Sending blessings your way.

Oh Angela, be gentle with yourself. I actually think I (Susannah) was being overly picky on the Mary vowel. Baby steps and kind self talk :)
