- Shortly before landing, a heron collided with the landing gear.
After two overflights to visually check the landing gear, the aircraft landed without any problems.

Magnifiquement filmé, bravo!!!
Birds looks to be a real issue at Buochs. There was that Falcon 2000 video hitting one when landing that was kind of scary as well. You never know the extend of damages they can cause and they sure can bring a plane down. I wouldn't be surpised the issue at Buochs is with the low amount of traffic on the airport, so the birds are not too afarid of airplanes as most of the time there isn't any ftafic for long period of time on the airport.
One of the things that would help at Buochs Airfield is to get a Local Bird of Prey club or Falconers to come and fly their Birds over the airfield approach's and the birds will soon get the message up until the late 1970,s the British Royal Navy Fleet Arm, had a dedicated Falconer's section to do just that and it works plus it is natures way of saying to birds stay way
@@hyime69 True, but my guess is that there isn't sufficient operations at this airport to justify the cost of bird control. Now if Pilatus breaks their shiny new aircrafts every flight now and then at Buochs due to birdstrike they might reconsider the economics of that.
@@12345fowler How much would it cost to give those birds little tiny radios and maybe even TCAS systems?
Zero birdstrikes in the three years I worked there, with a hundred or so aircraft movements a day
@@stefanthesailor967 I guess you were a very effective scarecrow! 🤣
que batida! aviao muito bonito lindo som e qualidade de video!
Beautiful footage ..... sorry about the bird .... glad everyone else is ok.

Birds on takeoff.
Bird strike on landing.
Birds on go-around.
They need a scarecrow at Buochs.
Need the strobing LED landing lights from XeVision, USDA research shows they are effective for scaring birds away, both color and strobing frequency.
Very cool toy, I want one.
Then go get one and tell us how it flies 😂
*Nice*
Oh wow
Is the Bird ok though ?
Красивые самолёты.
Parecido com o super tucano da Embraer
They maybe should use gas-cannons to scare the birds!
Too many birds at that airfield.
Why in the world would you go around in a single engine on a bird strike? Are you hoping the engine will fail during the go around?
Maybe because they hit the bird with the gear and not with the prop? Hence the lowpass with gear extended to check it from the ground... It was a good call.
@@RaphGRV And just what was the pilot going to sort out in the air?
@Chuck Howard Nothing much, but at least he would have been prepared for an emergency landing (and so would be the appropriate services on the ground, as shown in the video) if he knew he had a tyre burst or hydraulic failure on the brakes... Just common sense, really.
My thoughts exactly, or more precisely I fail to see what possible damage a bird strike can do to endanger a landing? He's stabilised, he's practically already touching down, I don't see what a bird strike could possibly do to thwart the landing? Even if your engine is out you don't need that for the landing when you're already touching down!
As you said: far, far more dangerous to go around as there is now the need for full flight capacity and the need for a healthy engine.
@@RaphGRV The services on the ground is a valid point, but is there really a risk of any damage endangering a landing from a bird strike? I'm sure there's not. Then compare that to the multitude of risks to a flying plane and the go-around makes no sense.
The propeller "blinking" is uncomfortable. Pilot licensing should be more like american - from unpowered gliders to powered planes that no need license to fly ... then plus-one jump to twin engine and avoid looking through blinkers
Road kill is can eat = for vegetarians to know, not for vegans

What a dreadful noise those planes make
Military trainer taking off at what was probably max weight.
@@grahammonk8013 Max for the 2000m runway length and elevation/obstacle clearance etc, I don't see any external stores except the tanks so probably not absolute max.
To me it's very pleasant. Sounds really cool. Not too loud either.
To me these are the most pleasant sounding types of plane there are: piston engines are far more grating (usually louder too, as well as so slow that you have to listen to their drone many times longer) and jets are much louder plus don't have that nice prop sound.
That was cool. 🤪
Need to do BETTER JOB with bird 🦢 mitigation at that airport!!
Poor bird,it was such a shame that the pilot never died then it would of been worth viewing
looks like a heron was killed..I would have preffered to see the plane crash and the bird survive....
I hope they go de-monitized for this video of a bird being killed by this airplaine.
You sure sound like a sane and balanced individual...
You're nuts!
If you really believe that, you are a bad person. You would rather someone's father, brother, son die instead of a bird?! Would you prefer one of your family members die instead of a bird? I feel sorry for your family.
Really Sickening!!! Hope you live by those words💩
What a disgusting comment! You would rather see two people die in a horrific crash than a bird get hurt?
