You are watching a clip from the 1978 movie "The Buddy Holly Story" with Gary Busey playing the lead. It is a great movie! Buddy Holly was one of the early pioneers of 1950's rock & roll. His style was influenced by gospel music, country music, and rhythm & blues acts. He wrote a lot of songs during his short life such as "Peggy Sue", "That'll Be The Day", "Everyday", "Oh, Boy!", "Not Fade Away", "Rave On", "It's So Easy", "True Love Ways" etc. He was only 22 when he died in a plane crash along with Ritchie Valens & The Big Bopper. This tragedy was later referred to by Don McLean as "The Day the Music Died" in his song "American Pie".
I lived in Lubbock Texas, the birthplace of Buddy and the Crickets for several years. He is still a legend there with statues of him and the band around the city. I also got to tour the recording studio in Clovis, New Mexico where their first records were recorded. Thanks for the reaction.
You are watching a movie about Buddy Holly. The real Buddy was a high school senior in Texas when he met his idol Elvis Presley in 1955 and it was at a county fair where Elvis liked him and said go open for me, and even lent Buddy his guitar. Later Elvis introduced Buddy to The head off Decca records, and hat started it all but Buddy had a sad ending. poor guy.
Buddy Holly Richie Valens and Big Bopper Richardson were all killed in a plane crash on February 3, 1959. This is the sadest day in Rock and Roll History. They still call it "The Day The Music Died ".
So by now you now that you reacted to a bio-pic of Buddy Holly, not Buddy Holly himself. Please react to this version of the song "American Pie" which tells a little about Buddy's tragic death. ruclips.net/video/VsZFiMo8TIc/видео.html
