    My dad was a police dog handler and trainer he taught me to feed kibble and wet food in the same bowl he used bear hands to mix it ! ( I use rubber gloves but dogs love it 🐶!
    Thanks Jill for sensible advice as always 😊

    I agree with adding a little warm water to dry. It also helps prevent bloat. Also aids in cleaning the teeth.

    thanks for this video, very informative. my girl eats like a horse so we've added water to her meals basically from day 1. coughing up kibble across the room still happens from time to time! a bit of warmed up broth (dog safe of course) can also help with appetites and softens the food.

    We've always added a good amount of cold water to kibble for our greyhound because she hardly drinks otherwise. She only turns up her nose at food if she's stressed by travel or similar.

    Very helpful video. Thanks Jill! I feed my boy kibble in cold water, but have never tried mixing it into a gravy in warm water to enhance the smell. He loves salmon/chicken/beef pastes, which I hope are OK in moderation as toppings.

      Yes, should be fine, just keep an eye on the salt content if you are adding it regularly

    Our grey will eat absolutely anything including dry kibble. No enticing necessary lol. She used to love her toppers but the vet has put her on a very restricted diet as her digestive system is beyond sensitive. Sometimes she snaffles a bit of bread crust on a walk and we deal with the aftermath for a week....

    I find that mixing warm water in my dog's kibble helps her to eat a bit more slowly. The soupier the better, although there's a limit!

    Would you just put 1 piece of sardine in? Adopting a girl within the fortnight. I will ask the handler but liking your videos a lot. Binge watching

    • @jwcaninecare
      @jwcaninecare  Месяц назад +1

      I would be careful initially, just one sardine or even half, and see how it goes over a few days. If they aren't used to it you could upset their tummy. I usually share a tin between 5 of them. You can freeze the rest for another time if you need to

    I am having such an issue with Madge waking me up in the night to take her out for a walk. She seems fine in the healthy way, and I walked her at 9.00pm last night, but she had me up at 1.30am to take her out for a walk? Please help! Jilly & Madge from West Devon, England. xxx

      Does she pee immediately she gets outside? Does she pee frequently in the day? It could be a urine infection. Or she may just be getting you up because she can!

    • @jillychandler
      @jillychandler 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@nickhaag7803 No she does not pee immediately she gets outside, we have to go for a little walk, in the middle of the night, then sometimes she will do a pooh, then a pee at the end. I have tried making her go back to sleep, and it has worked on very few occasions, but she keeps barking, and in the end, I have to get up and take her out. xxx

      @@jillychandler Well that does sound behavioural. Have you had her long and is this a change in behaviour or has she always done it?

    • @jillychandler
      @jillychandler 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@nickhaag7803 I have had her 4 years now, and she has always been an early riser, but it is only in the last few months that she seems to be getting me up in the night to go out, and I am exhausted with it, as I live alone, so there is only me to take her out. xxx

      @@jillychandler That is odd. A check by a vet may be an idea, there may be some underlying physical cause. Hopefully Jill can offer some advice, it's outside of my experience, all my hounds are lazy. Best of luck.

    Woul never ever feed kibble. It is bone dry bits of ultra processed biscuit. My girl gets a combination of raw and home cooked.

      There is also nothing nutritious about kibble. It is the worst type of 'food'.

    • @jwcaninecare
      @jwcaninecare  5 месяцев назад +1

      for some people kibble is the most suitable option to take in their situation. This video is intended to offer some help if that is their choice.

    • @eilidhsomerville5554
      @eilidhsomerville5554 5 месяцев назад

      @jwcaninecare I used to feed kibble to both my late dogs, but stopped many years ago. My Lurcher became extremely thirsty on it and I also learned about the extrusion process. Dry food has been linked to renal failure as it makes the kidneys work harder. And also obesity due to the carbohydrate content.
      The extrusion process is brutal on the ingredients and most of the original nutrients are destroyed. Vitamins and trace elements need to be added at the end of the process and they are usually synthetic. I don't care if a bag of dry food costs £10 or £80. It is a complete waste of ingredients. Cold pressed kibble also look like bone dry pellets of sawdust.
      In fact kibble only exists because of the war effort. It used to be that dog food was sold in tins, but then any available metals were used for munitions. Dog food was then dried and sold in bags. So it does not exist for the welfare of dogs. By pet industry standards, if a food can make a dog survive (not thrive) then they consider it worthy of being sold.
      It's disgusting and I'm so angry with myself for having fed kibble. It is the least nutritious of food.
