    The owner who transformed the building, was a W J Bassett-Lowke who took a normal terrace house, extended it and completely remodelled and decorated it with designs by Charles Rennie Mackintosh starting in 1916
    Rennie Mackintosh has a distinctive style, part of the Art Nouveau movement, he was a designer, artist and architect. He is best known for his work in Scotland particularly the Glasgow area. Here are a couple of pictures I took way back in 1997.
    78 Derngate is the only house he designed outside of his native Scotland. The work was commissioned in the middle of World War I when Mackintosh’s other work had dried up so the commission was very welcome

    Yes, that does look amazing thank you, didn’tRenni Macintosh school of art burn down twice a few years ago while being renovated??
