Been a vegetarian for about 24 years. I was raised in South Texas, where most people have very easy access to all kinds of meat. It was customary in my family for us to have meat 3 times a day! Can you believe that?! This still shocks me - not just from an ethical standpoint but a financial one too. I was born with a strong love for animals, and I struggled so much inside with eating meat. For most Americans, having meat is a very sterile convenience. Everything is nicely packaged in a grocery store. One can easily disconnect from the animal killing taking place. Once I was on my own, I began to naturally eat less meat. I discovered that my body really craved vegetables. Honestly, one big hindrance for me was financial - I was working long hours, trying to pay off my college debt - and had no energy to cook. I didn’t have the money to buy nice vegetarian food. And so I would often rely on cheap fast food. Lots of burgers. 🙄 It wasn’t until I moved to Switzerland that changed the course of my eating habits forever. I couldn’t really afford to eat out so often, and so I had to force myself to learn to cook. I discovered that I just couldn’t bring myself to handle raw meat. I bought myself a really nice vegetarian cookbook (Mollie Katzen - Moosewood Cookbook) and taught myself. The Swiss have some of the most beautiful vegetables, and they don’t eat meat as often as Americans (who does really?). I also started studying/practicing yoga and meditation, and I can affirm everything you’ve said here. The desire, cravings, mindset, everything just fell away. I discovered that I was actually a decent vegetarian cook! And best of all, I could fully embrace my love for all animals.❤️🙏🏼 It is such a personal issue/choice. No one should criticize anyone for eating meat. I would only say that if someone has a conviction about it - especially about killing animals and how taxing it is on our planet, they should DEFINITELY explore this. Best wishes - thank you for this. Namaste 🙏🏼🕉

7 years ago I stopped eating meat because of my kidney issues. Then I listened to my body and worked with my nephrologist and started eating chicken again, slowly. I lost weight, gained muscle, zero fatigue. My labs are all better, my digestion is better. Your body stops making the correct acids and enzymes to digest meat when you don’t eat me for long periods of time. You can easy build those back up by slow introduction. It doesn’t mean your like this for life.

This was my last video just before going to sleep and I'm grateful that I'm ending my day on such a positive note. Anita the vibe, the energy that you project can be felt so strongly. I can totally relate to you. I stopped eating non vegetarian too 2 years ago. I have been an animal & a bird rescuer and a yoga practitioner but then I still used to consume non vegetarian & the positive changes I saw and felt within myself was only after quitting non vegetarian. As you so rightly mentioned I feel so connected to Mother Earth and sensitive towards it's beings, both animals and humans. The change is remarkable. And yes I also wanted to quit non vegetarian but I couldn't & felt like a hypocrite but then all of a sudden getting deeper into yoga , meditation and especially after rescuing birds, all of a sudden one day I didn't have the desire to consume non vegetarian anymore just like you. And that was the best decision of my life. Yes we have no right to take away anyone's life. Thankyou Anita for this video. You are a wonderful soul. The words you used, Prana, Tamas, etc I'm so happy to hear those.

Great value Anita! I love your videos ❤️
I'm from Brazil and I've been vegetarian for 16 years! Since I was 17 and I turned to vegan 2 years ago.
Stop eat animals was the best decision that I've made it. it's diabolic the way the humans treats them. Cows, pigas, chickens and other animals don't want to die to serve us. It wrong eat animals, period.
Vegetables don't have nervous system. Don't feel pain.
I was decided to stop eating meat because I was interested in yoga. I started to practice yoga at almost the same time the I decided to go veggie and I was like surprise when I founded that was a connection between yoga e vegetarianism.
I feel that was like " I have to take this path"
Was my soul called to take this spiritual journey.
Now I'm 33 years old and still practice yoga and 2022 I'm celebrating 16 been vegetarian!💚🌱 Half of my existence in this world not eat my friends animals and doing my best to not cause any suffering to then.
And yeas, our meditation/ yoga practice is easier when we're vegetarian. Our body, mind and soul say thank you 🙏🧘🕉️

I am also a non vegetarian turned vegetarian and I agree to every single thing that you say minus one thing - please research, if the entire human population turns vegetarian- there will not be enough food for all in this planet. There is a reason why we have a food chain. If we break it by arguments like “taking a life” there will be anarchy. Plant food price will sky rocket 🚀 demands will not be met, poor will die of hunger and there will be wars. So nice but not feasible. All of us who have turned vegetarians are privileged, I must say. It’s not a model for all

    • @keshwin108
      @keshwin108 Месяц назад

This is not true. If the world turned vegetarian, this would end World hunger completely. We produce food for 10 billion people but a large portion of this food is feed to animals.
According to estimates from the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, if all the crops currently fed to livestock were redirected to human consumption, it could provide enough calories to feed the current global population.

Your body needs the nutrients in animal foods. Why do you think you have those “cravings”? It’s because you’re lacking in several nutrients, most of the time they’re vitamin B12, iron/ferritin, vitamin K2, a lack of protein/amino acids, and lots more. You will suffer in the long run if you keep this up. Please stop avoiding animal foods.

Hats off to you as you've explained very clearly and you were very calmer while explaining as most of the videos of vegetarians are in anger mode only. You've tried different approach in explaining about veg and non-veg food and I really liked it. It was very informative. I am also trying to be a Vegetarian but I couldn't completely turn vegetarian because:
    1. There is no alternative for omega 3, omega 6, Vitamin nutrition in veg food except in pills which is costly and I don't know whether we can take pills (I don't know whether it is good for the human body). The above nutrition is only available in fish meat and in eggs.
    2. Energy does not absorp faster in veg food compared to non-veg food which absorps energy faster in the body.
    3. I'm just concerned about girls periods. Girls need iron nutrition after periods to recover blood in the body. This nutrition is available in mutton meat. Iron nutrition is available in veg food but not as much as compared to non-veg food (Mutton meat).
Could you please make the videos considering all the above points which I have mentioned above. It would be really helpful and useful for all the people.

My bf is a vegetarian, and now because of him we started having more vegetarian food, and now i dont like having non veg food much. Once in a blue moon i have but that too in a lesser quantity. I also observed having less desire of having non veg food

Excellent video, (are you vegan, or what kind of vegetarian?) I've been thinking of trying vegetarian life; but unsure how to get adequate nutrition (in Northern Canada 🇨🇦, no garden for 7-8 months/ year... & higher prices of imported vegies) . Can you recommend any books for a beginner basic/minimalist vegetarian diet (for lower income people, who can not grow their own) ?
    I wish I had your energy 👍

I stopped eating non-vegetarian food six months ago and lost 30kgs and reversed my type II diabetes on carnivore. For some odd reason I´m supposed to believe that I´m odd ....LOL I´m now very very jolly happy and doan miss any vegetables or anything that contains carbs/toxins, (natural and synthetic), herbicides, fungicides, especially those which are designed in a lab. The human body absorbs meat nutrients before it gets to the colon however, vegetable fibers, etc. just rots in your colon. Plants are living beings that are vital to this planets environment. Vegetarians don´t know how the cycle of life works ....just ask one, and they´ll prove it to you.

I workout 4to5 days a week and I need sufficient protein along with adequate essential amino acids but problem is most vegan foods don't have all the essential amino acids in large quantities to ensure protein bio availability for the body. That's why animal protein is absolutely necessary for me. Also vegan diet can cause certain mineral and vitamin deficiencies. I came across a channel KasumiKriss who went vegan for 3 years and her menstrual cycle completely stopped in her 20s. That's why she stopped being vegan. Vegan diet is impractical for most people except monks and nuns who have decide to leave their body.

This video resonated so much with me. I was exactly like and for very similar reasons, stopped eating non- veg. Its been close to year I fully stopped. I havnt started myself Veg until few months, though I started on this journey to cut down non-veg since last 2-3 years. It was a slow transition for me after I set my intention in 2020. First year, i switched to Pescatarian and 1 special dish givig my mind and senses enough time to stop the occasional craving. Its soo fascinating to see all the cravings went away, and last 1 year, never even thought of even those special dishes. As you said, slowly our awareness to other living being rises up.
I am also practicing art of living meditation since last few years. Its not like you have to be a veg to do yogic practices, its the other way around where our body slowly starts teling us whats right for us and starts gently rejecting whats not ideal for us. This video was such a validation.
