Hi guys!!! Just wanted to mention that the instructions in the vid wont make the hat have those downturned edges at the end, its just that I did something a bit random by accident when I was filming to make it do that!! BUT if you follow the instructions like I have in the vid, the hat will come out like the picture I have of it in the thumbnail!! Sorry for the confusion and thanks so much for understanding!
Whenever I do this, your hat always ends up larger than mine even if we’re on the same row. Is this normal? I’m using 100% acrylic yarn
@@lulumoalin7540 she had a comment up that ig she deleted but she says that she recommends using cotton aran yarn.
@@randomperson-py5ze ok thanks
Hey! Can someone help me, when you're increasing does that essentially mean that when you start with 3hdc's you then do 4hdc's and then 3hdc's and then 4hdc's etc etc? Mines looking quite crowded and getting a bit wonky. Would love some advice! I'm quite new to crochet :) Xxxx
@@aeliza9312 it means you do the amount of half double crochets and then at the increase you do 2 half double crochets into one stitch
totally making this as soon as i finish that godforsaken harry styles cardigan

omg I am making a Harry styles cardigan too ! I am also making this hat while I’m making this-

I’m making his frog hat right now tehe
I gave up on that lol I'll get back to it another time XD

Thank you! I don't understand why tutorials don't automatically include written instructions. Saves lots of time.
Also, I would start this with a magic ring. Looks much nicer.
I have written out the instructions a bit more detailed on my own.
Cotton Bucket Hat
4mm hook
Two 50gm balls, each 85 yards
Magic Chain
Chain 4
1) 8 HDC in middle always mark first stitch
2) 2 HDC into each stitch
3) 1 HDC then 2HDC in next stitch, repeat around
4) 2 HDC then 2HDC in next stitch, repeat around
5) 3 HDC then 2HDC in next stitch, repeat around
6) 4 HDC then 2 HDC in next stitch, repeat around
7) 5 HDC then 2 HDC in next stitch, repeat around
8) 6 HDC then 2 HDC in next stitch, repeat around
9) 7 HDC then 2 HDC in next stitch, repeat around
10) 8 HDC then 2 HDC in next stitch, repeat around
Should have a diameter of about 6 inches for small, or 7 inches for large
11) Front loop only HDC around
12-19) HDC around
Brim:
1) 4 FLO HDC then 2HDC in next, around
2) 6 HDC, then 2HDC in next, around
3) 8 HDC. then 2HDC in next, around
4) 10 HDC, then 2HDC in next, around
5-7) HDC around
What is the difference between 1 hdc and increase, im confuse because its my very first time
@@Achierakumiko for the first stitch u put 1 hdc only, the next stitch, you put 2 hdc, the next stitch 1 hdc, the next stitch 2 hdc. Repeat
I see alot of comments about how wonky or messy theirs are comming out, I found in the beginning for the magic circle putting a stitch marker in the middle helped me keep track of where it was! As well as putting a stitch marker at every increase so that way if I lost count I can count back to that marker instead of struggling to find that increase. I hope this helps anyone else who struggled!
i did all of that and its still coming along very wavy and stuff:// maybe its how loose/tight im doing it or what yarn im using...itll probably end up looking good anyway but its a lil annoying
@@lillyfuller1735 how did it end up coming out?
I'm a grandma crochet, but just picked it back up after like 30-40 years or so and it's like riding a bike...so, my guess is that the waviness is do to maybe miscounting your increases...in other words, too many increases early on will just keep you increasing, am I right??? IDK, but that's the only thing that makes sense to me 🤷 right?
Made this comment for myself so I can coke back to it. Sorry if it doesn’t make sense lol
Chain 4
8hdc in the middle. Then the second row. 2hdc into each stitch
Third row. 1hdc then an increase
Fourth row. 2hdc then an increase
Fifth: 3hdc then an increase
Sixth: 4hdc then increase
Seventh: 5hdc then increase
Eighth: 6hdc then increase
Ninth: 7hdc then increase
Tenth: 8hdc then increase
Should have a diameter of about6 inches for a small head or 7 inches for big head
Front loop only hdc in each stitch
Do normal hdc from row 12-19.
Brim:
Row 1
4 Front loop only hdc then increase
Row 2
Then 6hdc then increase
R3. 8hdc then increase
R4
10hdc then increase (row 23)
Then three rows of hdc.
Omg I love you. This is literally what I was looking for. Again, I love you
@@pancakes8523 what does an increase mean?
@@applebloomes two stitches in the same stitch. For example, two hdc in one stitch xd
Thank you so much! Do you also know how many stitches there are in each row?
@@applebloomes its basically making more stitches for the up coming rows
Only yesterday I was trying to make a bucket hat and searched to see if you had a tutorial bcoz I can’t get along with any others. I can’t believe you read my mind like that!
GIRLL SAMEEEE
Omg amazing!!💓💓
Bro sameeee
Me too i just finish my bucket hat but it's fail because i seriously cant use other tutorial but emma 😭😭
yes! most of the other tutorials leave a line of seam from slipstitch
she replies to basically every comment, and makes the best crochet tutorials, i think i have found my new fave youtuber!
💓💓💓💓
This hat took me 6h to complete but im so happy with the result! thank you emma for a great, easy to follow tutorial
Hey I know crocheting takes time and you deserve way more views and love for all these tutorials, but I just wanted to throw in some encouragement. I recently got into crocheting and your videos have been so much help I can tell you put in a lot of effort and I really admire your work. Please don't stop love you so much xoxo
Thank you so much!! 💓💓💓💓
Just finished the hat, counting all the way, ripping too when I got confused with the rows, my fault. Used a row counter that set me straight. Thanks a lot for the tutorial; a lovely hat.
I LOVE your tutorials!! So easy to follow and both times (this hat and the little purse) came out exactly like yours :) I made about 8 of these hats the last 4 days because people love them so much. You're very down to Earth sounding about your instructions, if that makes sense ;) and it really takes the pressure off us newbies! Thank you so much!!!
Emma P you are such a kind and awesome teacher! I have been crocheting for many years, but I understand how frustrating and confusing it can be for new crocheters and seasoned crocheters elevating their skill with new projects ~ you make it easier to work through each mini challenge. Thank you♥️💖🥰
i’ve never crocheted before and this was the first project and my hat turned out so great! you’re so good at giving instructions and filming it. i can’t wait to make all of your tutorials!!
Thank you so much!!💓
ah same this will be my first project too !!~
This was my first project too, it’s so easy!
Girl it's my first one too but i almost cried lol
This was my first project and I was able to finish within only around 3 hours! You are so talented and you explain things so well! ❤️
I am so glad you enjoyed! x
Just made this hat and it is SO CUTE! On the final row I skipped the final hdc and slip stitched into the first hdc of that row. It looks totally seamless
Amazing!! That is a great tip💓💓💓
OMG YES! I’ve been trying to do a crochet bucket hat FOREVER and every tutorial I’ve tried it just didn’t look right or too weird I’m so excited about this one!!! gonna start it today
How did it went ?
You literally saved me omfg!!!! Was looking at a tutorial for a strawberry hat, and I just wasn’t able to follow it :,(( instead I watched this for reference, and it’s so so so beginner friendly!! I’ve never crocheted before and I got it instantly. Thank you so much!
thank you so much for this tutorial i loved it!! mine turned out so goood!!!! I think it took me about 7 hours haha and I did it all with no breaks, my hands killing me rn but i've got a super pretty hat and im not even mad! :p have a nice day everyone
I was planning to crochet a hat for my mom and u uploaded this! Thank you!!After I've finished that, I would like to show u
I have never crocheted before, but i wanted to make a bucket hat for my friends birthday. I love this video, and you are really good at explaining. One hour in to the project and i love it already. Thank you so much for this!
I have been finding a clear video of how to crochet a bucket hat. And yours was the most clear, both in instructions and demonstrations. I swear. Thank you for this! ❤
A winter bucket hat 😍 unreal! Me and my whole family love your videos!
This was my first project, and this was an amazing tutorial. It was so simple and easy. My hands are killing me but I really enjoyed doing this.
Very clear pattern and tutorial. I used an off-white speckled yarn ... 1 skein Hobby Lobby 'I Love This Cotton' #4 but looks a bit thinner than in the tutorial. I made the sides 1 row longer and made the brim smaller (the 3 INC. rows plus 1 round HDC in ea. st). It came out real cute ... sort of like a flapper style. Since the yarn is thinner it is a nice light weight for summer. Thanks for sharing this!
Oh my god, I did it and it turned out so cute! The hat only took me like 3 days to finish, but your tutorials are so easy to follow. Anyway, I would highly recommend anyone that wants to crochet the hat to just do it, it was super easy :).
YAY! i literally LOVE your tutorials so much i’m so happy you posted this!!!!!!
i did it!! my first ever crochet item! im so happy with how it turned out, especially because i used acrylic wool that needed a 4mm hook instead of a 5mm hook, so unfortunately it took like 3x the time, but if anyone reading this is doing the same as i did, it still works! you just need to pay attention to her measurements- DONT FORGET TO MEASURE YOUR HEAD!
like for the brim (after the row of front loop crochets) i did 8 rows of hdc and just kept increasing by 2 more than the last row i had done so 12, 14, 16, and 18
then after that i did 3 normal rows like how emma did for her hat, and it turned out to be exactly 3 inches! (for the brim)
I only have 12 mm hook. What should I do?
@@ayumiliyon749 if your wool is suitable for 12 mm hooks then you can easily do the same as emma but you'll have to cut the number of rows and stitches down a lot
@@tamsindave thank you I will try it
Bought my first crochet hooks the other day and this is the first RUclips tutorial I have actually been able to follow. Thank you!!!
this was a great tutorial and super easy to follow so thank you! also if anyone’s confused how to keep increasing the brim if you want it longer- she ended at 10 hdc 1 increase, so then just add two- 12 hdc, 14 hdc, so on
You’re the only crochet tutorials I watch because you explain in such an easy to understand way!
Thank you so much. You are the first person I've seen who explains what an increase is and actually shows it.
Finally someone explains how TO do the steps! Thank you
Your videos are one of the best things that happen the whole week
💓💓💓
I have just made a beanie, while watching tv. I made it up as i went along (I wouldnt want anyone to check it over lol) I'm now starting this, and its so easy to follow, thank you for your time x
This is one of the best crochet tutorials I’ve ever seen! I’m so happy with my hat. Subscribing and binging your videos now🤩
I was going to make some bucket hats for my friends and you uploaded this!!! Yayyy
I spent 2 days crocheting this hat, my fingers are killing me but it's worth it!!! thank you for the amazing tutorial 💓
You are so welcome im so glad you enjoyed! 💓
Ahhhh! This is my first hat I made and it turned out great! Your instructions are so clear and I love this video!!!
I've been wanting to make a crochet bucket hat for a while, but usually I'm too lazy to follow instructions, but this was simple enough and very clear. I had to re-do the bottom part a few times to make it to my liking, but very happy with the outcome. A nice one day project!
OMG i was looking for a bucket hat tutorial this is perfect
thank you so much for the clear instructions and detailed explanations. It's my first ever crochet project and i'm on the final rounds already!!! I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!
🥳💓💓💓
Such a great tutorial Emma!! So easy to follow and created such a cute hat. I finished it in one afternoon (with breaks). I will definitely be making more!
I am a brand new beginner to crochet and this tutorial was so easy to follow. I have made two hats using it lol. The best part is that it's super customizable to what size hat you want/what gauge of yarn or hook you have/ what you want your hat to look like.
what type of yarn did you use
This was my first try at crocheting, it turned out great! Thank you
This was the 2nd crochet project I've attempted and this tutorial was so good! I can't believe I actually made this hat and it looks good! Very beginner friendly so thank you for making this 🥺❤
This easily the best video for crocheting a bucket hat that I’ve found. How you teach is extremely easy to understand even for me who’s a beginner.
THE best tutorial I’ve seen, I keep coming back to it everytime I wanna make a new bucket hat 🙌🏾
Your an angel on earth. Just what I needed.
YES this is what ive been waiting for
You make your tutorials so easy to follow. I'm so thankful because I'm still learning. Thank you!!
OMG thanks for this tutorial, I’m a beginner like REALLY I started crochet 3 days ago and I’m successfully following this tutorial till the hat will be finished and with you, I feel like it’s easier and I’m learning sooo quick
i’ve been struggling to finish this hat off looking even! it always looks as if one side of the brim has an extra row and looks uneven compared to the other side (even though i use my stitch marker!) is there anything you would recommend to help with this?
That 2 dislikes from that people who cannot crochet
Love you emma ❤ 💗
Sadly, now there's 85 dislikes. I don't know why its fun for some people to dislike. *smh
Your videos and explaining are so helpful!! I’ve started and finished 3 projects in the past 4 days just from following your tutorials! Thank you!!
That is amazing thank you so much!! I love to hear that 💓💓💓
I have changed your tutorial a little to suit my yarn and head size but my panama is soooo gorgeous!! I love it and thank you so much for filming this video!
THANK U SO MUCH I WAS WAITING FOR U TO UPLOAD THIS TUTORIAL
I'm into crochet these days and I found your channel your explanation is so simple and I love your way of presentation 🥰keep going ❤️

I made one yesterday and then another one today. Very well made tutorial! Now that I get the basics of it I'm looking forward to doing some extra designs.
Thank you for this tutorial! I’ve made two so far but added some scallops to the edge of the brim. So cute

I love this pattern! It is so cute thank you for this!

My one challenge is when you say “hole in the middle” there’s no many holes & I think I keep getting the wrong one. 😭
i think the hole isn’t really in the middle. i just put my hook under the slip knot that was used to connect to the start of the chain. hope this helps!
the hole is created by pulling on the chains after you've connected the first chain - it creates sort of a doughnut shape with a large space in the centre. The hook goes through that same space 8 times to create the first row :)
You can try to learn the magic circle it works a lot better for me.
I have trouble with that too, what helps me is doing more than four chains in the beginning. For this I did 8 and there's a bigger whole in the middle at the top of the hat but it doesn't bother me, personally. Doing more chains just makes the hole more obvious once you connect the end of the chain to the beginning. I hope this helps!
You can try with the magic circle. It would be the same as hear but instead of starting with the slip not (I think that is how is call) you start with the magic circle. You can search for a tutorial on RUclips, but pretty much you do the same shape as if you would do for a slip not, but instead of closing it you going to hold it and pull the hook through the hole, and then just yarn over, pull the loop trough the hole once again and chain one. Then you just chain the four she is asking and close a little bit but leaving a little bit visible, and the little part visible would be where you insert you hook
Thanks Emma your instructions are very simple to follow, I made a toddler version using Tube Yarn with a size 4 hook and just adjusted the rows to suit the smaller size, after my first attempt was way too big. 😊
I made 4 bucket hat from this tutorial and i already sold the 2 of them. Thank you for sharing this 😊 Keep spreading the yarn ❤ God Bless and stay safe ❤
Amazing!! And thank you so much, you too💓
absolutely adorable!!! I can't wait to try this, thank you emma

tysm for this tutorial! i learned to crochet from you and now i have made a ton of protects!! do you think that you could make a video on making a sleep mask?
Definetely! x
I’m in the middle of the doing this. The first time I got up to row 7 and then I realised I flopped because it was already curving inwards and it’s supposed to be flat. I’m not on row three for my second attempt. I also kept loosing count😭 but this is the best tutorial I’ve came across I’m just useless at this
Don’t worry at all! Bucket hats are honestly so hard, and I still always lose count as well🤣🤣 Maybe try loosening your tension or using a bigger hook its starting to curve! Maybe add in an increase or two extra to see if that makes it lie flatter! 💓
Mine is curving up as well but I’m still going to try to complete it cz i don’t think there is much difference
