For villain songs, may I recommend Hellfire from Hunchback of Notre Dame? Or even any song from that movie, they’re all great.

What's great about this song is that originally, these were the scratch lyrics -- placeholder lines just meant to be there temporarily so they could figure out the cadence of the music and so forth for the "real" song, which is why they're so goofy. They ended up falling in love with the lyrics and never replaced them.

Howard Ashman was a brilliant lyricist, and he created the New Disney template for the 1990s and 2000s.
Gaston is set up here as a blowhard, but he is developed through his dialogue with Belle as a real misogynist who becomes actively dangerous when rejected. It’s a great character arc for him, something Disney villains don’t usually get-they’re usually just one-note evil from the first minute on screen.

      Yeah
      Gaston Is A Complex Character
He Started Off Mean But Nothing Evil Yet But As The Movie Progress , He Became This Psychopath Jerk Who Would Kill The Beast Because He Saw The Beast As An Obstacle Of His Way To Marrying Belle

It would have been interesting to see that belt around the neck used as foreshadowing for an alternative version of Gaston's fate (hanging) instead of his falling from a castle wall.

If you’re worried about Gaston being a twist villain like Hans, he’s not at all. I don’t know if you heard the reprise of this song, but it definitely shows the darker nature of his character. You should definitely see the movie if you haven’t by now!

Gaston is most definitely the villain and Beauty and the Beast. The villains can be fun, it's very easy for them to chew up the scenery in the scene. They tend to have pretty good villain songs too.

  • @ChibiChula

Great reaction! I believe Beauty and the Beast is the only Disney film to earn two academy awards, with good reason! All the music from it was great (both the movie version and the official version of the titular song are awesome), the story actually has a developed villain (which was very unusual in those days for movies intended for children) and the animation itself was amazing for that era. Mostly, this film gets props for having and intelligent female lead that wasn't just falling for a good looking guy. Honestly, other than The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast is my favorite animated Disney film even to this date.
Now, recommendations for Disney music, that would take me forever, so I'm just going to mention the first ones that pop into my head. Anything from The Lion King is a must. Seriously, ALL of it. There's a reason that one got turned into a Broadway Musical. The original Aladdin movie has a few of my favorites "Never Had A Friend Like Me" and "A Whole New World." Oh, from 101 Dalmatians, "Cruella DeVille" is hilarious. Tarzan has "Strangers Like Me" and "You'll Be In My Heart" that are my favorites, though the others are good in that movie too. Hercules has a lot of great songs too, "Zero to Hero" would probably be one you'll have fun with but my favorites are "I Won't Say (I'm In Love)" and "Go the Distance." Also, while I was never a huge fan of Pocahontas, the songs "Colors of the Wind" and "If I Never Knew You" are great, though I prefer the official version of the second to the movie version. ...I could keep going for ages but I'll leave you with just one more, from a film that isn't animated. "I Put a Spell on You" from Hocus Pocus. Okay, that's more than enough for now, though I'm more than willing to list more if you need, lol.

3 good Disney villain songs are 'Be Prepared' from "The Lion King", 'Friends on the Other Side' from "The Princess and the Frog", and 'Mother Knows Best' from "Tangled". 'We Don't Talk About Bruno'' from "Encanto" is also pretty good. It's not sung by a villain. It's a song meant to set-up Bruno as the villain.

Gaston is my favorite Disney villain. To the point that I see him more as an anti-hero. He has lots of virtuous traits hidden behind his arrogance; he just went after Belle too hard and sadly it cost him everything. But his song sets him up as a pretty interesting guy to be around. Which is probably why everyone likes him, especially his little buddy Lefou.

  • @august1837

If you want a flat out evil, but still insanely enjoyable villain song, check out be prepared from the lion king. My second favorite villain song of all time. And while on the topic of the lion king, circle of life is hands down one of the best movie openning of all time. And from Aladdin, check out friend like me or prince Ali. From Hercules, go the distance or I won’t say I’m in love. From beuty and the beast, belle, be our guest, or beuty and the beast. From Mulan, you should definitely check out make a man out of you. From Pocahontas, colors of the wind, which is probably my favorite Disney song lyric wise. From hunchback of Notre dam, out there or god help the out casts.
Ok, that was a lot. I’m just a huge 90s Disney nerd

  • @kiryn5977

Some of my very favorite Disney songs that might be fun to react to:
"I'll Make a Man Out of You" [Mulan] (This song WILL get stuck in your head, and I'd apologize for that, but it's fantastic, so I'm sure you won't mind it being stuck there XP)
"Reflection" [Mulan] (one of the very best character ballads/"I Want" songs)
"The Bells of Notre Dame" [The Hunchback of Notre Dame] (one of the best openings to a Disney movie ever)
"Circle of Life" [The Lion King] (the other best opening to a Disney movie ever)
"I See the Light" [Tangled] (one of the best duets in their catalogue)
literally any song from Moana, they're all fantastic, but a lot of them build up off of each other, so start with "How Far I'll Go"
There's also the great classic songs:
from Beauty and the Beast: "Belle"/"Belle Reprise", "Be Our Guest", "Beauty and the Beast"
Aladdin: "One Jump Ahead"/"One Jump Ahead Reprise", "A Whole New World", "Friend Like Me"
The Little Mermaid: "Part of Your World"/"Part of Your World Reprise", "Poor Unfortunate Souls", "Under the Sea", "Kiss the Girl"
The Lion King: "I Just Can't Wait to be King", "Be Prepared", "Hakuna Matata" "Can You Feel the Love Tonight"
The Hunchback of Notre Dame: "Out There", "God Help the Outcasts", "Heaven's Light"
Pocahontas: "Colors of the Wind", "Just Around the Riverbend"
There's also some other songs from more modern Disney movies, but they're still all great:
The Princess and the Frog: "Almost There", "Friends on the Other Side"
Tangled: "When Will My Life Begin"/"Reprise", "Mother Knows Best"/"Reprise"
Moana: (if you want a listening order, then here you go) "How Far I'll Go", "We Know the Way", "How Far I'll Go Reprise", "I Am Moana: Song of the Ancestors", "Know Who You Are"; "You're Welcome" and "Shiny" can be listened to whenever

Honestly, my favourite piece of music from all of Disney comes from this movie, but it's not actually a song. It's the main theme, and it hits a spectacular crescendo in the scene of the Beast's transformation. It is also the scene of legendary animator James Baxter's most iconic works of animation of all time. It was more than a labour of love to him - it was the deepest moment of spiritual significance in his career. He felt it was his life's calling to anime this scene specifically, and he poured his heart and soul and tears into it. The result we have is the legendary artist's greatest masterpiece.

I like Gaston as a villain quite a lot. It is hard to even call him evil. He is a man with a enormous ego, and the whole village just kneel to him as a done thing that he dont even has to ask. Everyone just does. Except Belle, so is quite logical that for that she is the one Gaston really want. And is so natural he becoming angrier and angrier with Belle rejection. He literally do not understand why he is being rejected. Why would he? His song is quite funny, but when you thing about it, it is sad. Just when Gaston was accepting defeat for once, just when he has to face rejection and live with it, the whole town come to him and say "nah, you are fucking awesome. You are not to blame", and Gaston do not evolve as a character after the experience, but stay the same, or worst, more convinced than ever that he is right, leaving the problem unresolved, what makes him angrier and more frustrated, to a point of becoming "a beast" at the end.

Yes Beauty and the Beast was from 1991. I still think you'd like the musical number Do What You Gotta Do from Disney's Descendants 3, and then from Classic Disney Animation I absolutely love many of the songs from Aladdin. A Whole New World, Friend Like Me & Prince Ali are some of the best remembered from that one, and then 'When You Wish Upon a Star' from Pinocchio & 'A Dream is a Wish' from Cinderella are both classics.

Gaston is 100% the villain. This song in contrast with the opening number especially establishes that. The town thinks Belle is weird because she’s independent and loves to read and they shower Gaston in praise for being a traditionally masculine brute. And his fragile ego won’t allow him to take no for an answer which any woman will tell you is basically the most frightening type of man there is. The fact the number is so light hearted almost makes it more insidious because he can be as toxic as he wants and as long as he’s playing his part he’ll be met with adoration.

Another good Disney villain number that also sings the praises of the bad guy is "The World's Greatest Criminal Mind" from 1986, The Great Mouse Detective. Vincent Price’s singing voice is delightfully charming and wicked, and unlike Gaston, there is no question who’s the villain in this magical number. I’m certain you’ll enjoy it too. ruclips.net/video/8UQg4zb9dsA/видео.html
