Teslacam Stories is a series of Tesla owners real experiences told by the Tesla Dashcam and Sentry Mode videos. All incidents are recorded from Tesla vehicles and submitted to this channel by other Tesla enthusiast. I contact each person who send me their videos to talk with them and learn more about their story and to follow up what happened after what we see on their video. Voice over and captions are added to describe what happened, and why. I believe that this additional information regarding the incident gives the videos a newsworthy value.
From the footage and additional information, a viewer can learn the consequences of bad driving and can educate his/her self with better driving safety. This process also gives the videos a great educational value. It is my desire to add my own unique and creative value in a transformative way to ensure you enjoy and learn from the videos being presented.

Wondering how could software distinguish this scenario from the one where thieves load it onto a tow-truck from a parking loot. Perhaps there should be a button for automated parking where it doesn't sound the alarm (but stil records video & flashes "Tesla laser") if the system is activated for the first 2-4 minutes after leaving the car.

Right, if you're picking up gum or a mint, you usually place it in the same spot every time and can pick it up without looking away. 🙂
You're piloting a 2 tonne vehicle on public highways -- doesn't matter what your excuse is, don't be distracted. Even on autopilot.

That automated parking garage in Denmark is awesome!
There needs to be more automated parking garages...a lot of people don't know how to drive in garages, plus it takes away the time to find a spot in a crowded garage.

Mike here from clip #14 9:25. Thanks for all the love! My Tesla was recently totaled when it hydroplaned off the side of a mountain. Luckily all 4 people including my 4-month puppy walked away unharmed. Tesla is known for having some of the best car safety around and I was blessed that day to have another opportunity at life. Please be safe and appreciate your loved ones as any minute can be your last.

You have to remember though to drive more cautious in poor weather conditions. Hydroplaning only happens when you hiy water going too fast. Be safe and cautious

3:10 Do people not understand that you DO NOT overtake when there is a solid line on the ground? Man, how did those idiots even pass the driving test?
Plus, they should not have overtaken anyway: look first for incoming / oncoming traffic! This could have ended badly for the driver or the driver behind the Tesla even more. Makes my blood boil. Happened to me on a mountain road once. But not in a Tesla. Could have died that day.
People don’t listen to lines. Don’t be ridiculous. Besides, some people freak out over ALL solid lines then don’t know what to do when they get to a turn. “Oh no you went over a solid line. You’re going to prison with no parole.”
@@IntelliPocalypse In other countries, like Germany and Switzerland, you pay a hefty fine for going over a solid lines. In driving school, they tell you it's like a wall. You can't even theoretically go over a solid line to pass a cyclist safely. You have to wait for non solid lines. I do it anyway and hope every time that there's no cops around.
@@novaflare1552 Driving seems to be a lot stricter there. Here in the US, all you need to get a license is a brain and two hands it seems. That's why we joke about getting your license from a cereal box. Also, I love it when people say you're not allowed to cut across a parking lot or pull through a space. Here in the US, parking lots are private property, and it is up to the establishment whether or not you get a ticket for things like that. You don't even have to stop at stop signs on private property. If someone hits you in a parking lot, police just shrug and tell you good luck because it's private property. Now, excessive speeding in a parking lot will get you in trouble or reckless driving or parking in a handicap space/fire zone

It is also illegal to have the Teslacam recording because auf data protection regulations.
@@stehgrad ÖAMTC sees this differently. If you record your drive to capture the scenic view, then this is allowed. You can also provide dashcam footage to prove your own innocense. In all cases all PPI including faces and license plates of 3rd parties need to be made unreadable. You can even provide Dashcam footage to others for entertainment value. In this case all PPI needs to be made unreadable.

You're not allowed to overtake on the right in any EU country as far as I know (even where there are more than 2 lanes), however when traffic is this heavy it is quite common for the right lane (or one of the right lanes) to be moving faster than the left lane because the left lane is being hogged by a bunch of drivers who think they'll be able to go faster on the left lane...
It's not supposed to happen and it is technically a breach of the highway code but in my experience it happens a fair bit and can even be unavoidable unless you basically create a mini traffic jam for those behind you so as to not go faster than the left lane (I live in Luxembourg and our roads are more than insufficient for all the road traffic we have during weekdays with all the cross-border workers, so highways are often overloaded).

Indeed, it seems that people just turn autopilot on and then don't give a fuck about watching the road.
I normally don't enjoy watching car crash videos (though I do watch them when I am bored), but the way you present the videos and the voice-over makes these videos entertaining (the stories...not the pain and suffering)...and make me want to get a Tesla considering how many accidents they prevent/make less severe.
In the video with Ali, he's to blame for not observing the turn signal of the semi when it was trying to change lanes. There's a big difference between a vehicle drifting to your lane, and a big rig giving you a signal and you ignoring it.
Please remember that vehicles entering your lane must not force you to change speed or direction. Otherwise they should not change lane! Of course Ali could let the truck in out od kindness, but he should not be forced nor expected to do so.
The trucks can't see. You shouldn't hang out in their blind spots especially when they are signaling

@@loonatic90 Trucks have blind spots far larger than a car. It's common courtesy for large vehicles. Vice-versa, a semi must provide right of way for merging vehicles into his lane. Either change lanes safely or slow down to merge appropriately with oncoming mergin traffic.
In the video any person who noticed the driver would have provided courtesy (unless your a dick of course). That is to say that you are not in his blind spot either. If he can't see you how is he going to know??

When you’re in a traffic jam, turn your emergency flashers on. Especially if you’re last in line.
Cant stress this enough!
My procedure when spotting a slowdown condition ahead is to engage the emergency flashers as early as possible while monitoring vehicles following! The key is to look far ahead as possible for early detection. One superb feature of our 2018 Ioniq PHEV is traffic monitoring showing red/yellow due to slower speeds. Monitoring the map gives me extra time/distance prior to the slow speed segment. Thanks
This situation involving a curve or a hill crest is most unnerving. I slow down early and hang close to the center line to afford someone a place to go if needed to the right of me. Flashers are not a bad idea.

Spot on. The first one especially the truck was signalling for a while before it started to move.
He even sped up into the trucks blind spot as it is very difficult to see a vehicle in that area behind a truck

I'm not saying don't get a tesla, but the thing about teslas is tesla won't sell you parts, making repairs very very expensive, most having to be done through tesla themselves (who have a terrible track record for repairs and used cars), and the lithium ion batterys are terrible for the environment.

Insurance doesn’t cover “lost income”. Read your policies. For that kind of compensation, you’d have to go to court.

@6:05 The Volvo should have checked his blind spot. But I don't think he expected someone illegally overtaking on the right. (In Austria, it's illegal to overtake on the right side.)
People like you don't understand, that passing by an other vehicle in the right lane isn't illegal. Overtaking means that after he passed by the other vehicle, he returns into the lane he was before. Actually we don't know if he did or did not that after.

@@M_Andras I don't really know about Austria so you might be right. But here in Sweden it is not allowed on roads 70km/h or over to pass on the right. And that is only allowed if there is so much traffic in both lanes so you have to keep up to traffic not blocking every one else. Overtaking does not mean that you have to get back in the lane of the car you are overtaking. It just means to pass the car in the EU countries I know of (not Bulgaria and Hungary and other 3:rd world countries where you get your licence at the grocery store.)

But most likely it´s illegal to pass on the right in most of the western EU. But what I see here in Scandinavia is a lot of Eastern European registered vehicles breaking a lot of traffic rules, most likely they don´t even know that they are in the wrong. car probably didn't like being moved while parked. The system probably thought the car was being stolen or that something has bumped into it. I don't know if I would necessarily call that a bug tbh.

One pattern I see over and over again in dash cam videos is drivers busy being right and/or honking instead of being defensive and pro-active in avoiding accidents.

Just a little tip for everyone that runs into semi frequently, either pass as fast as you can or stay behind them, till you can safely get around, but NEVER drive next to one as the chances of them seeing you is not likely.

8:20 remember though you can still downshift instead of hitting the breaks. It is advisable you shift every 5-10 seconds to avoid lurch, but that is the best way to slow down with loss of traction or balance. Also remember that switching gears does not require the use of a break pedal (but will wear on your transmission).
Not in an EV you can't, though you can regen, which is better.

There's nothing wrong with using the brakes if you lose a wheel or tire. The key is NOT to do it initially, but to gently slow to a stop. The vehicle will likely pull to one side, but you can compensate for that- if you're gentle.

5:52 In Austria as well as in Germany, you aren't allowed to overtake from the right unless you are on an intown-road or there ist a pulled through Line. So in that Case the Tesla Driver would be at fault, because the Volvo doesn't have to expect a Car coming Up from the right.
Yes, but you should always look before merging. What if the tesla didn't overtake but drove next to the truck? The volvo would still need to look.
@@casper14301 But that's the point the tesla driver overtook the truck, that means, the volvo driver might even has looked and then merged, but the tesla came in. And even if the volvo driver didn't look, because it isn't an obvious case, in germany the tesla driver would get at least the bigger part of guilt, in front of the court, if not even the full. also, I haven't said that the volvo drivers maneuver was good but only based on facts, he would be at fault in germany and maybe austria as well.

Please go back to doing mixed videos. Fun people encounters, accidents, odd animal sightings, and other things. A mixed video makes it more interesting. It seems most of the autopilot clips are from when autopilot doesn't really do much which make it a sad video for us Tesla fans.
2:02 I know the truck isn’t in the right. When I see a semi put their turn signal, I make sure they go first. Let them go first/switch lane and you wouldn’t have to wait to get your car fixed.

No the insurance company will not compensate him for all his lost income... He should have asked for a rental car. What could he possibly do for a living where it MUST be his Tesla?
People like you who have no clue what you're talking about are a scourge to the internet.
You’re assuming a rental of any type is available at all right now. Look around. Rental companies dumped their cars last year and now there is a surge of demand for them. You either cannot find them or the rate is hundreds of dollars a day. And that’s for economy matchbox cars. Forget about anything remotely luxury level or even mid level. People are literally renting moving trucks in place of cars. So when you factor in the fact his car is likely to be in in the shop for weeks if not months, the insurance company is likely to say it’s cheaper and easier to compensate for income lost than find and pay for a rental car that long at the moment.
My guess would be that he is a Uber driver. That said, insurance indeed does pay for your lost income, but it is a seperate insurance policy from your car's one.

Folks, Rule of thumb is if the car didn't sound an audible alarm or display is visual warning, the car didn't react.
