LYRICS: I used to be the king But they took everything They even stole my crown I’m gonna track you down Watch your back my friend I’m about to kickstart a cycle Of never ending revenge And this time it’s primal, it’s tribal All our drawbridges are up Is this a wind up? I used to be a charmer But now there’s holes in my armour, fuck! I can’t walk away, I can’t walk away I got all this pride, all this shame, all this anger to obey “Well if it’s revenge you seek, Then be sure to dig two graves” Why? One for my enemy And fucking one for you, preferably I just want to be adored And I’ll die by my own sword, thanks I trust no one, as I prowl under the amber streetlamps All our drawbridges are up Is this a wind up? I grab my sword and swing But I go and pull my hamstring, fuck!
One day, I'll figure out how you guys manage to sound completely unique and amazing on every single album, but while you're listening to it you're still thinking "of course this is Shikari"
Honestly so good. I kinda went off of them and it was disappointing for me cause I like some of their older stuff and they were one of the bands I listened to while forming my wider tastes in metal and alternative rock styles. This contrast of poppy vibes wish shouty vocals rubs me the right way. Plus something about the pop-ness combines with alt kind of sounds and melody. I really like this new stuff
Mate, i don't know where you are hearing old shikari, other than him going "rawr" occasionally and there being wub wub's. There is far more that defined old shikari than that. Your entitled to like this, it's your opinion and tbf it's not a bad choon but don't sit there and pretend this is in anyway similar to their old stuff because it's not. Shikari turned into a BMTH wannbe arena rock band and it's dead. The vocals are about aggressive as a comatose 90 year old lady. It's deader than my gran is. Old Enter Shikari is dead, British Metalcore is dead bar a few old guard because the ones that are still around pulled the exact same shit that ES and BMTH have. Got popular enough to launch into mainstream success and leave their roots behind. But i'm not going to be happy unless i get to see Take to the Skies performed as a full set so fuck me i guess
The only band that succeeds to impress me with their originality and depth in their lyrics and their instrumental, it's objectively so unbelievably interesting Edit : nothing in my life made me happier than hearing this song, , never stop guys!
I love it! sounds like the song that would play during the travel/finding yourself montage of a netflix adaptation of a young adult novel. And honestly thats the vibe i need rn!
So glad you guys exist. You're one of the few bands that remind me to listen from the start to the finish of an album, not just shuffle. Long live Shikari
“Well if it’s revenge you seek, Then be sure to dig two graves” Why? One for my enemy And fucking one for you, preferably felt that reminds me of take to the skies love you guys
The absolute perfect blend of your wide array of music. Dirty, grimey verses, pop centric (instrumentally similar to The Spark) chorus with shouted vocals, and a banger ending more in vein with Common Dreads
What I like about this band is al the genres they portraied while still being true to their nature. I've met fans over the years all loving a diffrent album, but sticking to the band cause they still appreciate the quality. nice job boys.
You guys have literally never put out a bad song and I am so keen to see you live again. Good thing i pre ordered the new album to get early access to those tickets. See you in Bristol boys
Well if it’s revenge you seek, Then be sure to dig two graves” Why? One for my enemy And fucking one for you, preferably these lyrics right here got me so good! congrats for one more time!
Ok I'm impressed with the flash flood of colour vibes I just want it to be slightly more heavier let's wait and see if they put a banger on there 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

U guys are amazing. This new song is a masterpiece
💙🔻
You missed BLAH. But I still love it and you
Please don’t release any more songs though. I’m a weak man and I want to listen to the whole album in full for the first time as intended
@@9313James Agreed, it's always disappointing when you finally get the album and realise you've heard half of it already
I found a £20 note on the way to work this morning, and this song drop is still the best thing that's happened to me today.
One day, I'll figure out how you guys manage to sound completely unique and amazing on every single album, but while you're listening to it you're still thinking "of course this is Shikari"
Meanwhile...

@@CaptainMonteg That's insanely clever
Very interesting blend of old and recent shikari creating something brand new on this album

Jack Allan yeah not many bands could combine these pop melodies and aggressive vocals in a way which works so well
Jack Allan holy shit same here! Legit the exact same thing for me too
@@Jack93885 I agree. Although I still have a very hard time getting into the earlier material.

Vote for Enter Shikari 2020: "Bangers Only"
Cool profile pic (:
test
It is as if Flash Flood of Colour and The Spark had a baby and it’s top set in every subject
Richard Hedgecock honestly reminds more of Common dreads than FFoC but still agreed!
The two albums I like best by shikari, no wonder I'm loving all the new releases!
Enter Shikari's goal for this album is to make it impossible to tell voice assistants to play them😂
The struggle is real lmao
I asked for the king off alexa and it said now playing The k i n g it spelt it out ahaha
😂👍🏼
Absolutely love this song. Never get bored of Shikari. They’re always evolving there sound and no two albums sound the same.
Hello, Havoc C
Needed a second play to actually hear it over my excitement.
A sick hook, breakbeats and some Common Dreads-soundy synths 😳 yes pls
@@mentaltelepathy24 let's hope so
The verses are giving my the streets vibes here. The sound they have has constantly evolved.
miverick86 reminds me a lot of when Rou covered everything is borrowed
Exactly what I thought, and I love the streets!
Alot of Rous verses on most of their albums have a Mike Skinner vibe.
I love the: BLAH
yikes
Is from "hotel" Transylvania
BLYAD
Sam Carter has entered the chat.
@@jamesb212 blegh!
Taking me back to Common Dreads 🙌🙌🙌praise be
Jack Miller exactly!!! And that was my favorite album by th too
Shikari have done it again after all these years they keep the sound fresh
Great track. Now to have it on repeat until the album releases. Thanks for all the great tunes over the years. Much love.
Brilliant
The double time drums with the trumpet in the chorus is MENTAL!!! This will be such a banger live I can see it now!
The only band that succeeds to impress me with their originality and depth in their lyrics and their instrumental, it's objectively so unbelievably interesting
Edit : nothing in my life made me happier than hearing this song, , never stop guys!
Really? You need to listen to more music then lol.
@@jasonlovesmusicreacting882 OK
I think they need to work on more complex rhymes, but the music side is definitely top notch!
Oo okaayy i’m digging this so much! - Sits on repeat until I know ever single word -
I love it! sounds like the song that would play during the travel/finding yourself montage of a netflix adaptation of a young adult novel. And honestly thats the vibe i need rn!
omggg that’s what i thought too!!
Same here! Also i think it'd work just fine as a song for a character introduction of such
So glad you guys exist. You're one of the few bands that remind me to listen from the start to the finish of an album, not just shuffle.
Long live Shikari
Damn...I am too hyped for this album.
Common Dreads is my favorite album of all time...this might take it tho.
Exactly how i feel
same vibes borskie. HYPEEEEEEEEEE TRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIN
This song absolutely slaps. Another great tune from probably the most consistently good band.
Guarantee the next song is a banger also.
Shikari can change as much as they want (or don't want) to but as long as the instruments are loud, the tunes are bangers
“Well if it’s revenge you seek,
Then be sure to dig two graves”
Why? One for my enemy
And fucking one for you, preferably
felt that reminds me of take to the skies love you guys
You guys went from a band I hated to my favourite band. What the fuck happened? I've never been happier!
Nice one fellas as always. One of the only bands I’ve always kept up with. Btw still waiting to hear “we can breath in space” live btw ( hint hint )
Whenever I read that my brain automatically goes 'theeey just don't want us to escaaa aapeee"
Here am I, still waiting
Perfect Mindsweep/Common Dreads vibes going on here! Cannot wait for the album to drop!!
you stink
Great comment
The absolute perfect blend of your wide array of music. Dirty, grimey verses, pop centric (instrumentally similar to The Spark) chorus with shouted vocals, and a banger ending more in vein with Common Dreads
Shikari's really putting out banger after banger rn aren't they?? First, Dreamer's Hotel, now the king??? This is fantastic!!
Second track I've found minutes after upload. And it's 11:11.
Rise up Cheerios gang ❤️
What I like about this band is al the genres they portraied while still being true to their nature. I've met fans over the years all loving a diffrent album, but sticking to the band cause they still appreciate the quality. nice job boys.
I've been with you guys since take to the skies :D
And you're one of the bands that are left that are still putting out bangers.

You can just tell at the end its linking to the next song on the album and its gonna be good
Im liking how the new CD is sounding so far. A mix of bouncy and heavy Shikari

A sequel to Fanfare for the Conscious Man????
Those chorus trumpets 👌

Every album gets forward. The most progressive metal/hardcore band in the UK

THE SOUND. I think i am in love!
Holy shit, banger after banger, keep em coming
We can always depend on the shikari boys to hit us with the unexpected.

This is a certified banger. Shikari are back!
So keen for the album. Great song lads

Chorus instrumentals remind me of Rou's cover of Everything is Borrowed by The Streets
Well I wasn’t ready for this
Wow!!! Such an amazing sound!!!🔥
They're still keeping that vibe alive

only one word - AWESOM
I'm so happy how this album is a blend of all shikari song styles loooveeee it!!!!!
Enter MY BEST LIFE! Long live Shikari Comrades!
As Rou stated that there are a few Easter Eggs in this album, the synth at 2:42 sounds like 'Sssnakepit'.
hype! love the rap part
Lyrically, it kind of feels like the spiritual successor to Today Won’t Go Down In History
2020's Fab Four! I LOVE the energy of this album!
Just one word: SICK!
EASILY the best track from the new album
This album is going to be so fucking good
