@@_axyss fair enough everyone is entitled to their opinion of course, I quite like this song I'm just surprised anyone would call it the most beautiful composition ever, over a classical piece or just anything older. I wouldn't even really describe it as beautiful, it's pretty cool though. I'd probably chose a Leonard Cohen song or some 60s soul song as the most beautiful composition ever. For me, Adieu is by far the most beautiful thing Enter Shikari ever did.

I just haven’t been able to get into their stuff properly since I think the third album? I absolutely loved TTTS, was a huge part of my teenage years, and Common Dreads. One problem I have with a lot of the newer stuff is the lyrics. They are always like super direct and obvious, like I really liked the mysterious weird lyrics in the earlier stuff. Not that I could do better, all my lyrics are super cringey, but for whatever reason I really don’t vibe with stuff like ‘outrage! I think I’m going on a rampage!’ Or whatever. Maybe it’s just cos I associate the early stuff with good times idk
@@WAZOOMA I kinda agree. Subtlety isn’t exactly their strong suit when it comes to lyrics. Bands like SOAD are about as direct in their message, but somehow manage to come off as less preachy and pretentious. But the thing with Shikari is that when they hit, they REALLY hit. And when they don’t, the music is still catchy enough to carry them.
@@Sealedaway Yeah definitely. my feeling is that Rou has a natural talent for writing cool weird lyrics, like the ones on TTS, the Zone etc. but when he started to try to get more pointed with his message the lyrics became a bit 'let wing sixth former poetry' level if you know what I mean

I like the visuals but I feel as though the camera movements are too slow to really match the energy of the song

In my head, the video I had imagined was more of a storytelling, high energy feel. This just kills it a bit.
I personally miss music videos such as Last Garrison, you can never go wrong with a high energy video like that
I feel that it does actually fit, more on a metaphorical level though.

I listened to this song when it first came out in may but am only really just now taking into account how excellent it is.
This feels more like a tech demo than a music video. Every shot lasts at least 10 seconds. I like the bit where the band hologram played on the rooftops, but it came way too late and was over too quickly. That should've been the consistent concept, instead the whole thing just felt like an impressive but unremarkable cyberpunk world. Great song though

100%. The music video doesnt convey the emotion of the track at all and just slowely moves around. Swap the track for some slow synth-heavy ambient and i think it will work really well, but it doesnt really mesh well with the song they chose for it.
To be fair though, this was filmed in lockdown!
Rhiannon Elliott Well yes, but I don’t think there was anything wrong with the concept. The cinematography’s the issue, and that’s mostly down to directing choices.
I mean, if you take Slipshod/Price on your Head animated videos, or the Undercover Agents pixel video, they may not be technically as amazing as this but they’re so compelling because they’re vibrant, variant and suit the music perfectly. This kinda feels divorced from the song and uninspired

I legit hope we get a music video for every song on the album. Every track was killer. Loved the vibe of the video, the slow, post-apocalyptic cyberpunk vibe made the song feel larger than life

Love how the video plays with the expectations. Shikari never short of a surprise. The gloomy mood is well matched with the slow speed of the shots. Great analogy in the sense that things might get dark in future, but we still have the chance to slow things down, maybe try something new as a society. Well done.

Love the visuals here just wish the editing was tighter and there was more of an underlying narrative - I liked the idea that this empty world actually had people coming together at the end to watch the ES neon monoliths...

If Polygon had played more with the lights according to the rhythm of the music and had used more of his hologram recourse, it would have been more harmonious, the song is good and the animation too. I'm just saying they had the resources to do something more creative and Shikari had already given them a good song. even so I already gave it play several times and a fabulous I like it
It looks to me like they already had that dystopian city made as a showcase and then they was like „yeah let’s make a music video out of it“ so they just added in some holograms but kept the rest as it was...
