How is everyone feeling about Redfall and the State of Xbox?
Fine, honestly. The founder of Arkane left in 2017. This has more to do with that than anything else. Starfield, Hell Blade 2, Avowed, Fable will all be far more telling. Halo Infinite was bad because they tried jumping on the live service bandwagon.
Redfall could be a lot better for sure but I am enjoying it. I honestly think that Matt and Phil have got to have more hands on with Bethesda/Zenimax studios. I personally say drop ABK, take care of what you have and buy some IPs or smaller Developers.
I think it's Bethesda and Arkane but phil should have look in to it and played it to see if it need more time to delay it

I really do like Xbox, but damit bring us some quality already. Yes Game Pass is very nice, but most Games are mediocre. I rather have 4 quality Games in 1 year then garbage every month.
I was so disappointed with the game I deleted it after maybe an hour. I might download it again after a few patches, but I'm just pissed.

think if they took that 70 billion and invested into all the studios they have now. their future would be bright. in reality, they are lazy and just want to buy it instead of naturally cultivating it.
I really think they should have cancelled Redfall the moment they acquired Zenimax. Take the 100m hit but preserve your reputation. This will probably loae them a lot more than just 100m. Reputation is everything.

Imo....with the activision deal being blocked by the UK and with this messy release of redfall...i cant help but feel like this may be a sign for microsoft to pull back and just invest that 68 billion into the studios they already have ....birng in some more talent...upgrade all the equipment... acquire a couple of IPs...and take a page out of sony's textbook and pump out some hard hititng exclusives....
Phil and his cheerleaders were more concerned about game pass, than high quality games. Clearly Phil doesn't know how to deliver a Triple A title. Maybe new leadership is needed.
Making mistakes is ok, but if there’s one thing that worries me, it’s not learning from mistakes. I hate to say it, but things are looking very bad.
Phil Spencer needs to take some blame at this point. We praised him for a few years there, but he’s not delivering on most of his promises. I’m sick of giving him a pass.

We're at the stage where Xbox has dropped the bar so low, that they think Redfall is acceptable as a AAA for $70.
This means there's a possibility of this happening again (however small). MS has learned nothing in 5 years... Extremely concerning, because this should NEVER have happened in the first place.
Sony & Nintendo have Zelda & FF16 coming up as exclusives.
Why would anyone want Xbox exclusives at this stage if Redfall is now the standard :/

What you get when you emphasize social issues versus just making good games. I’m not specifically targeting arcane or Bethesda I’m targeting Microsoft, Xbox and Phil spencer they care more about these “multiplayer, accessible to anyone” type games versus mature hardcore games. Facts I'm so tired of xbox preaching about " accessibility" because they can't make any good games. Sony games are woke, but they're still pristine AAA quality bangers. I mean my god horizon forbidden West looks leaps and bounds better than anything xbox is capable of doing.

This is about the dumbest comment I’ve read all day. The entire industry has a renewed focus on making games more accessible, even RE4 remake has pretty good accessibility options. The state of Xbox has nothing to do with social issues or accessibility. Psychonauts 2 is filled with stories and themes about social issues and that game is great. Forza has amazing accessibility options and that game is consistently good. The problem with Xbox is their poor product management, communication and marketing.

How much money and time has Xbox spent on xcloud for example. How many games could have been made or extra funding to a game like redfall could have been made if theytook cloud budget and invested into quality games

Agreed. I think they knew this was never gonna be great and put everyone and everything on Starfield. They know if that game isn't great, Xbox is fucked.
Honestly it's kind of a lose lose situation if they delayed it further or released it now. The game has very serious design problems that probably couldn't be fixed unless they completely rebooted it. They could fix the bugs and framerate issues . But even then if they delayed it say for another year and it's still a bad game, at that point might be better to just release it and start on the next project sooner.
It didn't need to be delayed either... They didn't cancel it so get it out there and out of the way. It's not the first time a bad game released.

This is why I don't want MS to buy ABK. They should focus on the many talented studios that they already have. Imagine those billions are given to these studios. They can hire more talents, more tech etc.
Played Redfail on Gamepass and the 30fps was unbearable!
Phil needs mandate 60fps on all first party games. Every 30fps games is worthless to me.
From what I had heard over the years from a developer friend was when Microsoft visited studios to look at games it was like a business meeting. When Sony visits the people sent are talking like peers and asking questions about developing the ideas and going into detail because they understand game development. Microsoft was just seen as suits. I think Xbox really needs a higher up that oversees the studios that understands game development but they're in a weird spot that hiring internally might not work because the studios/publishers they buy are usually because they weren't run well enough to be self sufficient.
There's a reason that so many times we heard Phil be positive about a game he played early and have the game not turn out great compared to Sony looking at early God of War 2018 and borderline making them restart.
People like to say Phil is a gamer and that doesn't equate to understanding game development. I mention Phil not Booty because honestly Phil loves to be the mouth piece and do every interview imaginable so if he wants the praise and awards then just like a quarterback it's his fault when Xbox is losing.

I can’t in good faith keep investing in the platform. Sold my Xbox to get a ps5 and will wait until they show consistency before I’d start back in the ecosystem again. I think the fact 18 months of no AAA exclusives and this is what we get is really sad.
If you watch the Phil Spencer interview, you'll se the plan to have an exclusive every 3 months is finally coming to fruition. Well have a lot of news during the showcase
Pretty sad, ive seen on microsoft official channel xbox fans begging them to delay this game after the 30fps announcement, myself being one of them. Microsoft has nobody to blame but themselves for this. Even the fans didnt want the game to be released in the state it was coming out in

@@atlien1988 the issue here is a lot of people believe the preview / review process is an honest independent open affair when in fact it’s part of marketing for the games. Early review copies. Flying out to play the game etc. all that is game companies trying to convince to get good articles written and word of mouth. It’s difficult to be impartial when you’re being buttered up so nice.
Well i won't put all blame on Microsoft. They been working on this game since 2018 if I'm not wrong and at that point they weren't owned by Microsoft. So was their plan at 2018 to drop a game that is buggy?

When you think about it, it's kind of worse than you think. This game got approved in its current state first by the higher ups at Arkane, then it got approved by the higher ups at Bethesda softworks, then zenimax looked at it and approved it, and finally it got passed off to xbox and they approved it. 4 major studio "board of director" groups APPROVED this game in its current state before it got to us!
Maybe they thought it being free on Game Pass would soften the complaints??

KingThrash pitched the theory that this game was 'let out' to cover up for the fiscal year.
This is exactly what happens when you make zero effort to integrate an acquired studio. This hands off approach is just laziness.

Yep, I'm losing faith in Microsoft, I'm neutral and at some had every console and gaming pcs but currently have a switch and series x with gamepass as I don't need both ps5 and a xbox but I'm seriously considering selling my series x and getting a ps5. Since the series x/s been out there have been no quality games, just disappointment and delays

Is it really final though? It’s not. It’s just the launch version of the game. The stupid thing about games releasing these days is they all launch with issues… all of them and then they’re patched after launch.
Redfall will get patched. Jedi Survivor launched with issues as well. It’s not an Xbox thing… but rather an entire industry issue. Game companies should be allowed the time finish and polish them without rushing them out the door.

I like Redfall, nice coop shooter. 🤷 Lots of nice details if you look closely (story sequences include coop players, compass directions constantly swapping in "other world" etc). Why does everyone hate it?
It’s mainly because the state of the game… this game looks like a 360 game. And it plays like it as well. Of course it’s going to be some gamers who enjoy it. So if your enjoying it, don’t even worry about it.

Who wants the pressure of working at an Xbox first party studio when your work is scrutinised to the extent arkane is with Redfall.
The extra scrutiny is just part of the job being a dev under a first party publisher. There is zero doubt that this game is busted and it should get the smoke 💨
I disagree about how people shouldn’t say Starfield has to be perfect, it kinda does. After all the L’s Xbox has been taking lately, if their most anticipated game ends up launching as a disaster, that’s gonna set back their reputation by A LOT. Personally speaking, Starfield is the only Xbox game atm I’m excited about, if that flops than there’s gonna be nothing for me to look forward to for this platform.

I’m a very long term Xbox ‘fan’ - OG Xbox onwards, I’ve loved the ride. But I’ve had enough of this crap, I’ve cancelled my gamepass sub - it still has six months to run but I don’t think I’m going to go back. I sold my PS5 3 short weeks ago, but my faith in the Xbox brand has totally stalled - not just because of Redfall, its the straw that broke the camel’s back. I’ve just sent a order to Amazon for a new PS5. I LOATHE the Sony brand, and their anti-consumer culture. But at least the first party games on PS5 work and deliver consistently. I’m so pissed.

What I don't get: is that HOW are these giant companies putting so much $$$ into "Buying dev companies" YET compared to the 360 era. We are basically getting NO GAME'S. So where is the investment $ going to? Take 343 for example: they put so much $ Into them and they have not produced any quality game's.. yet they've invested so much $$$ and for what? I just don't get how it's "confusing or hard to understand that just making games is the most important thing. They can be arcade style, you name it. Not every game needs to be like Skyrim or Farcry. People just want things to play. Focus on that!"

I just renewed my Xbox GPU for 2 years and this is what I get lol. Redfall is an absolute mess and an embarrassment. Here's hoping that we even get Starfield this year let alone it be completely done or half baked like Redfall. I'm so glad I got a PS5 last month. Now I can catch up on good games.

Xbox has been my main gaming choice forever, and I've used my PS5 and Switch for exclusives. Ju got a Steam Deck and loving it. Moving forward, if there is a game that plays well on PC, and Especially when it plays on the Steam Deck, I'll be getting it there. And I'll be splitting the rest of my game purchases between PS5, Switch, and XSX, with PS5 being my main choice for consoles.
Xbox just can't hold a candle to switch and Ps5. Just got to say the Switch is a Grim reminder that power isn't everything, the switch just kept getting an Avalanche of fantastic games, which is why I always sided with Nintendo despite some of their blunders.

I was so anxious to change my PS for a series X because some of my favorite franchises are now with Microsoft... but after some bad news I think I'll wait a little bit more. Probably the Activision/Blizzard deal should be reconsider after all because if they can't handle what they already have... Imagine with more big studios?

Phil Spencer is on X-Cast tomorrow, sounds like it's going to be the biggest CopeCast of Xbox's history... we've all been sold a bag of false goods, just felt like we've been lied to and scammed and told to just wait and wait and wait as the L's keep piling up. Just glad I moved to PC, there's no reason to own an Xbox anymore.

I want new leadership at Xbox. Phil is a nice guy, but I fear him being so nice and just focusing on services, is why Xbox has been the way it's been for years now. The Series S/X has just been a continuation of the Xbox One, almost worse because the Xbox One had more exclusive games by this point in its lifecycle... 😕
And that's sad because by the time xbox one came out Microsoft had pretty much threw in the towel when it came to gaming they sold off all but 4 studios

It’s because how Microsoft went about it. They delayed redfall a whole year to bring us the best quality possible is what they said and yet they gave us this garbage. Imagine they released it on the original date. And to mention the fact that they didn’t let anyone review it until a couple days before released and didn’t lift the embargo until the game came out…they knew the game sucked and yet they still wanted to maximize their profits while selling the game at $70 and $100!!! Wtf!!! This is so bad.

Xbox released halo completely broken and now this game and there aren’t any really good exclusives anymore on Xbox. I’m thinking of ditching game pass and selling my series X and moving directly to PlayStation pc I’ve had enough of the false promises from Microsoft they have failed the Activision deal, which I was excited about. I do have a PS5. I’m thinking of just fully migrating to that and selling all my games. Xbox is shit at the moment.
Since Xbox Series X came out.. xbox has failed the gamers. We had no games in 2022 and now 4 months into 2023 looks the same!

As a former Xbox360 drone, the fall of this brand is tragic. We are seeing it live. Granted I always had both consoles, but I was heavy on the 360, but sheesh. At this point they need to blow it up and start over. I wanna reason to get my Xbox series s back but it’s no point at this point.. what a downfall after redfall.
I've decided o sell my Xbox, I don't think they'll ever turn things around.

Playing RedFall I can see how it could of been good. Why can't I stealth kill? Why can't I drive any of the vehicles litter about? Why can't I smash and jump through the majority of the windows in all these empty buildings? Is there a dodge? I don't seem to have a dodge. Would be super useful if when a Vampire is throwing claws I could dive/dodge to the side. It feels like a promising early build, not a final release.
Yo know this is a little thing but it bothers me that u cant remove games from your achivement list or hide them i have played a few games that have achivments i just cant get

I'm actually enjoying Redfall. But to be fair. I don't really play multi player games anymore. So I'm playing in single player on pc with a 4090. It's different. I guess that's what I like about it. And don't get me wrong it still has its downfalls. But it's fun to me!😊
As long as you having fun. Damn 4090 a man I can dream. I still have a 2080ti it's doing great for in 1440p low 70ish frame in most big titles but, I also have 128gb of ram which I think helps with unreal engine games.
Absolutely enjoy the game if you want but don’t be out here saying it’s different 😂😂, it’s boring and bland like every other looter shooter style game and follows the exact same tropes.
It’s differences being how pathetically garbage it is compared to games in the same genre or any other game in general.
Thankfully I don't care about fps and first party games much, but all this situation made me think that maybe after this gen I could ditch consoles at all, go pc only. It's not a great look as a whole for xbox, and we're all tired now
I think it's a great game. Yeah a bit buggy but nothing crazy. The video escalated really quick. I will continue playing the games I want to play, without caring what youtubers or others say.
