- I've been trying to spear a white seabass for a long time. So when I finally got my first one, I had to get a gyotaku print for my wall.
Gyotaku is the ancient Japanese art of fish printing. You use soot to coat the fish and carefully use a special handmade paper or cloth to get the print.
I brought in @fishingforgyotaku to do the print for me. Dwight is a legit gyotaku artist and his family has an awesome business around it now.
If you ever have a chance to catch your fish of a lifetime, consider reaching out to him for a print.

Also, the quality of this video is amazing!
High-praise! Thank you!
Persistence and patience paid off good job bro
Thanks boss
Favorite video so far! Really captures a lot of the positive aspects of the spearfishing journey: tenacity, adventure, community, and deliciously creative meals! Such a beautiful piece of art 👏
Thank you for sharing! I’m inspired to go out and get a Big WSB!! 🤙🏼
This was an awesome video man. I learned many things…although I knew this one (you and lazy_seals_spears are bad assets!!!), even though I did ok in my first gyotaku, I have a ton to learn, and Kevin is your cousin!!! I started watching him before I even became a Spearo!!!!! How cool. Great videos must run in the family
Awesome fish thanks for sharing
Thanks!
Whoa what a fish! And the gyotaku print turned out so well!
Thanks 🙏
Welcome to Malaysia!!
One of my favorite places to visit!
related to Kevin? automatic sub lol. i just caught a 150 lbs BFT. thinking about getting a gyotaku print.
Do it!
What kind of paper does he use for the gyotaku prints. I'm trying to find some paper and don't know what kind is best to use. I've had some that was good, and but I can no longer get it.
He gets a special kind from Japan. I've tried thinner stuff from amazon. I'll try to ask him the next time I see him.
KMA.. bigger than any i've caught.. lol
You've caught way more at least :P
@@castandspear caught a limit once or twice back in the day.. pretty amazing fish for sure, that murk (merc too, lol) is all too real..
Well, you’re gonna have trouble with this one and continuing the proud angler tradition of exaggerating your catch.
😅
