There's something about the world maps created by 3D graphics in its earliest days. Half-life, CS, Hitman, Max Payne... When I used fly mode to freely explore the maps, I always felt the tranquility and calmness of these isolated spaces put my mind at ease.
Miss the good ol golden days, now the Hitman games look and play really well. However the soundtrack is lacking and I’d say the narrative just isn’t as good.

All Hitman games have a fantastic soundtrack, but I still like Codename 47's the most. All the songs were so fucking atmospheric. Hong Kong, the jungle, Rotterdam harbor... great stuff all of 'em.

I imagine he'd have fit in just fine had he worked on these newer games.
The airy-like choir is probably the Fairlight CMI's "Arr1" or "Arasian Morn" from the Roland JV or XV series. There is a ton of stuff related to your question on the internet on what equipment was used on what soundtracks from the 90s.

I played this by the time hitman 2016 was out. One of the first things I noticed was the soundtrack and how good it is. Despite the clunkiness and inferior controls as opposed to the future games, i still enjoyed the ambience it had to offer.
