In March 2005 I flew into Kuwait on the way to Iraq as a Department of Defense civilian in uniform. We flew out of Ft. Bliss , Texas to Prague and on to Kuwait. I volunteered to load the airplane so got my choice of first class seating right behind the flight deck. Being a United Airlines military charter full of soldiers the cockpit door was left open and about 2 am I was standing at the cockpit door watching out as were passed over Nova Scotia and out over the Atlantic. The Captain turned and asked if I would like to see the cockpit. I sat in the navigators seat and chatted with him for over an hour. He told me he loved the 747, and that it was the finest aircraft he ever flew. It was the most memorable flight of my life. I will never forget it.

You have to stand on the tarmac next to a 747 to get an idea of just how huge it is. And to imagine that it actually gets off the ground. A marvel of human achievement. Wow!!!

Sometime in the 90s when I first got my auto driving license I started driving on a regular basis to my local airport and watch through the fence at all the planes taxiing and one day one of the airport ramp supervisors walked to the fence and asked if i wanted to go on a short tour of the airport and of course I did not refused. I got to see a 747 up close. I could touch the front landing gear tire with my hands. It was chest high as I stood next to it. It was amazing. I didn't have a camera but I still have memories.

@@kenbongaards554when I was a kid we flew in a 747 Chicago to Heathrow every summer. Then another flight to Frankfurt, Germany and a third to Bremen,Germany. Three months later we did the whole thing in reverse. My mom was the only person in her family that ever left Germany. No one has ever even moved to another country in Europe. Fortunately in more recent times it's easier with only 1 layover. I still remember as a little kid running through airports being dragged by my mom to not miss the connecting flight. I also remember Heathrow being so crazy spread out and having to take shuttles.

I didn’t get a choice in the matter. You’re right the 787 has the best cabin environment of any airliner flying today. With its fresh scooped air pressurisation rather than an engine bleed system, and low cabin altitude enabled by its carbon fuselage, it makes a real difference to how you feel when you get off.
However from a pilots point of view I just find it underpowered and soulless compared to the mighty 747

This video is not about glamour, fun or other joyful moments of their life but all about knowledge, profession, humbleness. Moreover, they had a different personality and approaches to their job and maybe this was the reason why we had a chance to see "team spirit" in real life. Thank you, guys, for sharing with us!

Excellent video giving a snapshot from the flight deck. First time I have watched one of these. Have to compliment the crew on their skill, knowledge and professionalism. Just what you want when flying. The respect between captain and co pilot was clear to see and her enthusiasm and love for her job is beautiful and reassuring. She conducted a great landing in less than ideal weather. The day the pilot starts to treat it as run of the mill is the day it becomes dangerous. As this video was taken in 2017 I congratulate the captain on his retirement and hope he is having a well earned and enjoyable rest. Also hope the co pilot is now enjoying being a captain and passing on all of the experience she learned from the captain on this flight and many others. Great video

I could honestly shed a tear thinking about how the 747 has been wiped out like this. If it wasn’t for the fact that the 747 would be out of service by the time i’d finish flight school, i’d definitely want to be a pilot of it as a career path. So sad. The Captain here is retiring either this summer or has already retired as of last year, not sure, and as of now the 747 no longer flies this route/airline! instead it’s a 787 in its place :( Anyway, Great video!

Thank you for this exceptional and heartwarming production. For someone who grew up in aviation and is now also nearing the end of the run, this was a delight. For me the most special moments were when Captain Tezi shared what inspired his passion and love of aviation. It would an honor to hear more of his insights and adventures.

That was an excellent preflight explanation by the beautiful FO. She was very succinct and thorough in her explanations. She even gave examples of settings, and such, based upon different flight parameters. The captain seemed a bit disjointed when he spoke. That was a bit sketchy. I think it's just that he is translating his words into English, and it's certainly no reflection upon his skills. The landing was superb too! The FO greased it wonderfully!! Thanks for yet another great video!!

Been around the world much? The captain wasn't sketchy, he is just a man, not rewarded for being overly garrulous as women tend to be. Men, in the world, tend to be reserved in speech while women tend to be openly talking their thoughts. This reservation in speaking and action of a man saves lives, because they generally only speak and act when necessary, and when prudent. So, in a pilot, this is a positive quality. While its nice to have an entertaining young and new crew member, the lady speak alot, because that suits your fancy, and maybe excites you, real men reserve speech and action for appropriate action. Remember, their first priority is flying the aircraft. A distant LAST priority is entertaining you to your standard of entertainment. Even the video, as nice as it was, is a distraction for these two doing there jobs. The pilots are there for the proper safe operation of the aircraft, not to be eloquently smooth in order to please you. So "sketchy" is a bit on a insult, and shows you really don't understand the priority here. Notice when she is talking about how much the plane is great, she loves flying etc, she is not paying attention to the cockpit data and parameters, she is looking at the camera. In these moments, ANYTHING could happen. And if you have reviewed ANY aircraft investigations when planes go down, LACK OF ATTENTION is the root cause of nearly crashes. Maybe forgive the PIC for not being so concerned with his own thoughts about flying, and praise his "sketchiness" for paying attention to what is important, monitoring the aircraft systems. This guy is a veteran pilot, and knows it is his responsibility to monitor and think about everything important , because he is the PIC. She has been there maybe 3 years, he has been there 25 or 30 years. He has more on his mind and speaking to you is the last thing he considers important.

@orthopraxis235 - Thank you for your pernicious blather. I said NOTHING of the man's skills as a pilot; only that his thoughts seemed disjointed. It's my opinion, and is as valuable as yours. Deal with it.
