Thanks for coming out to the IE and giving all these young men the spotlight they deserve. I wonder what they would think now, how their chains have grown, some of them known world-wide!
I've been trekking out to the IE more these last 3 years than in my entire life. I absolutely love it out there, so many great people and historic places. I know that most of them got a chance to see their chains grow, but I'm sure none of them ever expected them to be as big as they've become.
The Naugles chain was revived four or five years ago at two locations in Orange County, Stanton and Huntington Beach. I was at the Stanton one a few years back when one of the owners was there fine-tuning the place. He told me a little background on it. The menu is somewhat different than what it was, but you can get a cheese burrito again. That's what it is, a flour tortilla filled with cheese. I used to get that regularly at the Naugles on Orangethorpe/Esperanza in Yorba Linda when I lived nearby many years ago. One day I went by there and all the signs said Del Taco. They said they would be offering the cheese burrito for a while but would eventually discontinue it. That happened a few months later. I like Del Taco and I go there semi-regularly, but they've gotten so expensive now like so many other places. I seldom go without coupons.
What up Michael!! What’s your go-to order at Baker’s? I’ve only done the twin-kitchen meal and a taco burger, but I’m trying to branch out and try some new things.
I had no idea all these fast food chains came out of San Bernardino County. You know the Loma Linda thing, I wish more places did that, they don't need to go into all this plant-based chemical bs. You can get Loma Linda vegetarian food products at any Stater Brothers. I think that's also a supermarket chain that started in the inland empire....
I've heard San Bernardino called the "Silicon Valley" of fast food because of all the chains that originated there. Yes, the Loma Linda thing should be more mainstream, sometimes even I want to eat something other than beef or chicken. Yes, you're absolutely correct, Stater Bros. started out in the IE!
Six degrees of Neal Baker, indeed! This video was very informative and unknown to me. I used to frequent all those restaurants as a kid, and my first real job was with Baker's in Bloomington. Thanks for the fantastic video and trip down memory lane.

Bakers brings back such great memories.
It really is a beloved chain!
Another amazing episode! I gotta try Baker's next time I'm down there.
Thank you!!! Yes, you should definitely check it out!!! I think it’s pretty solid

I never got a chance to try the original Naugles, but I’m glad it’s been revived. I definitely need to go check it out and try the cheese burrito!
@@californiography The Stanton location is closer if you're coming from the IE. On Beach Boulevard between Chapman and Lampson.
@@panatypical I’m 20 mins north of Stanton, definitely going to check it out this weekend!
What up Foo? I lived in the IE for a few years, and I had Bakers burgers and tacos. Pretty decent grub.

This is amazing 🤩 it’s all connected
Thanks brotha! Not only were they all connected, they also remained friends. Bell and Baker used to go golfing with the McDonald's brothers.
What I wouldn’t give to be in that circle of great minds

Yes, so many came from the IE. Staters started in Yucaipa and now headquartered in San Bernardino.

I need to dig into the history of Stater Bros. I'm sure there's a great story there
@@californiography Will be waiting for that video!

You're very welcome! it's incredible how many of the fast food chains we know today can trace their origin or influence to San Bernardino!
It's Neil Baker
Can you at least spell his name correctly?? I loved Neil Baker.
The picture in his year book, the Baker’s website, his obituary, and his gravestone have the spelling of his name as “Neal.”
