I dont know about other countries, but here in Brazil a lot of smaller teams have their own brands and stores in order to maximize profit. In my city both of the teams follow this example and they gained a lot of money because of it, the stores also sell the tickets for the match with a discount so that they can gain even more
As much as I love your stuff, I don’t think it’s fair to compare football to things like Disney and apple, just because they’re entirely for-profit. With the data provided from the video it seems understandable why florentino perez even was one of the initiators for the super league and why he spoke about declining revenue.
Football has always been a sport for the working class. It was never meant to be a source of revenue, its true purpose was to bring a sense of joy to the the general mass so that they could simply forget all their worries and enjoy the life for what it is even i it is for a moment. Technically, you can simply play the game just by buying a football. Most of the people in Asia and Africa still play with barefoot because these people can't afford to buy boots. God, this voice is so calming and satisfying. Is there any chance you could send me a personalized audio saying good morning? I'd listen to it every day of the week! 😄
i usually love the content of this channel, but i think the comparison against tech companies wasnt the best to determine how big is futbol , or at least not the main comparative.... maybe having a more in depth analisys against other sports in terms of reach, revenue and income per "fan" but also in terms of players averga salary vs "stars", etc.... i dont know if you have already but will be interesting to compare it whit NBA, MLB and Tennis that was briefly mentioned at the begining....
That's already been done and you can look it up. This video sees football as an entertainment business and compares it with Disney primarily. The Apple thing was just a brief mention to compare scales and and they said it themselves in the video that comparing sport to tech makes no sense because of the innovation advantage tech has.
Vertical integration is taking place in cricket. Teams in the IPL are producing their own documentaries on the same vein as Amazon's "All or Nothing". They have all the inside access and release it on their website or apps. They are also making mobile games themselves (albeit of a very inferior quality).
As a cricket fan, I only think of The Test as a legit contender with a similar format to All or Nothing. All others, I think, are not there. Correct with the games!
The sport may not be that big money wise but its sociological & cultural influence is top 5 when looking at all industries. The sport practically has a massive psychological grip on the minds of 25-50% of the world which is insane when you think about it.
Best thing to do is to create a dedicated streaming service for each league, and divide the shares/profits generated amongst the teams the way the broadcasting rights are divided right now. That way the teams have increased revenue and there's a singular service required. They can even make it into a twitch like service, with each team having their own "channel" with additional content like interviews or team bloopers available to subscribers and even more for paying members like RUclips. They can even have something like a superchat to raise money for charity. Best way to maximise rewards, and allows teams to have a fair chance to increase revenue and greater fan interactions.
Ronaldo and messi combined instagram followers being more than the whole nfl, nba, mlb and nhl athletes instagram followers combined is crazy. Still american media put lebron at 2 in terms of popularity ahead of messi. I simply can't stop laughing.
Football might generate less revenue, but I don't think the CEO of Disney being like "no Coca" would cause Coca Cola to lose 4B in market value, the way Ronaldo did. That's just an example of what football could do.
You deserve all the praise people give you in the comment sectiobn. As somebody who's interested in sports and finance, this channel is everything I need. Been watching since the beggining and you never disappoint. Thank you.
American sports market is inflated. Even some MLS team worth more than top European teams. Probably because many Americans support teams based on winning rather than local affiliation. Dallas has huge fanbase all over the country, so merch sales are high. Also Its a closed league, revenues are steady, no fear of relegation. If you are bottom teams, you can get higher draft pick and take top athlete to create buzz. Salary cap make sure all teams have a set spending budget, so no surprise financial decision (compare to football).
I've always compared football revenues to Hollywood revenues, considering the influence of football, we are far from reaching the commercial potential.
Wouldn't it have made much more sense in calling American Football as Soccer...that way you have two distinct games in Football and Soccer. As of now, no-one calls it Soccer and laughs when they call the game of "throwball" as football 😂
Actually, the term "Soccer" for Football did really originate in England before Football was even a thing internationally. I think, the Oxford or Cambridge Univeristy "Football" Club called it Soccer - Because "Football" refered to something more like Rugby. Which is btw also the reason why "American Football" (=Eggball) is called Football there, because Eggball actually originated from a similar Sport in England - What is nowadays called Rugby. Yet, in most Languages Soccer/Football is translated with something similar to "Foot" + "Ball", while Eggball isn't even really played with the Foot which makes it nonsensical to even call it Football. It doesn't even really have a "Ball" in it - I mean, that weird thing is weirdly shaped and if you ask people how they would describe a Ball, they wouldn't describe an Eggball, would they?
@@DaroriDerEinzige correct "The word soccer comes from an abbreviation for Association (from Association Football, the 'official' name for the game) plus the addition of the suffix -er. This suffix (originally Rugby School slang, and then adopted by Oxford University), was appended to 'shortened' nouns, in order to form jocular words." Rugby: "mid 19th century: named after Rugby School (see Rugby), where the game was first played"
Is it necessary for football to continue to increase it's revenue so fast and think "wow each fan only spend $10 per year vs £28 for FB" Whilst I appreciate the insight and presentation of this channel. The tone of this video and the continued capitalist/profit maximisation lens put on football worries me. Football clubs need to viable businesses of course, but all this is leading to is the continued extraction of money from the masses to give to the top. In the same way Disney parks are no longer affordable for the masses. Football will go even further in the same direction in the next 10 years with ever higher ticket prices, merchandise and TV subscriptions. When does it end? The average PL player earned £13k a week in 2000, this is now £60k. +462%. Average UK salaries have gone up +66% in the same time, And it's those people who pay their salaries through the increase in match tickets, merchandise, TV packages and buying products of their commercial partners. We can't continue to allow everything o be put through the lens of companies with billions of dollars in revenue needing to grow more and more each year when the people who supply a majority of their income, get less and less in relation.
@@robert2690 no, I'm saying that inequality is getting out of hand and has accelerated at a ridiculous pace since the 80's.. Footballers should earn a lot of money no doubt and football clubs can earn millions in revenue. But continuing to focus on maximising revenue in this way led to the super league and nothing suggests they won't try it again in the future if we don't challenge this way of thinking.
Also it is not fair due to the simple fact that being a football fan does not implies that you will follow the european major leagues. The sport is so huge that every city in most countries has more than 2 clubs and people from that cities would probably watch a third division match of their club rather than a high level premier league match. Some people would never watch a "major european league" match but will follow their own clubs all around the local leagues. It is not like american football, for example. If you want to watch american football I'm sure 99% of people would pick an NFL match. If you want to make this comparison even close to fair, you should add all the leagues in the world and their revenues. Because although it is a global market it does not mean every customer would pick the same product. Disney and Apple combined will never ever have the same number of products the football as a whole can produce and this companies would discontinue a product that is not profitable, so again, there are so many points why this comparison is unfair.
Football Represents Labor Freedom and Work Culture Freedom of a Country. Thats why Labor Protected Countries are Great in Football. Football is a Serious Profession not Entertainment. Football is to Make Living. not Drama or Entertainment. Footballers are highly Protected by Labor and Employee Laws.
I actually think something cool would be to compare f1 to futbol, because I think f1 is only getting bigger and has I believe better long term potential then futbol as the f1 wave is only starting vs futbol that has quite some time (just my thoughts)

This video is so bad lol
Awesome video. The economics behind what makes sports tick is amazing.
We think so too! 🙂
I really love a content about Economics Involvement Football, and thank god this Channel exist
Keep up the great work, hope many more of this soon
Plenty more to come! 🙌
Best Channel in youtube rn, not even close. Keep making great content
Thank you. We will! 🙂
Bale retired? Last time I checked he was still playing golf, so he s not retired yet.
Ah, of course! 😁
I'd love to see a video about how young atheletes like Osaka or Mbappe are beating the World Atheletes in terms of marketability and annuale revenue 🤔
he already made it for osaka
Yeah but like young atheletes in general, cus alot of brands pay them alot of money compared to other atheletes when they were at that age.
Football cannot be measured
We play with our heart
Not money
I bursted out laughing at 1:34 😂😂😂 beautiful
I love that ending in the beginning.😂😂
God, this voice is so calming and satisfying. Is there any chance you could send me a personalized audio saying good morning? I'd listen to it every day of the week! 😄
someone make the man an AI voice template and sell him to Apple
Great content as usual, athletic interest🤗
Thank you, Thomas!
Your channel is insane dude. Thank you thank you thank you
And thank you! 😄
i usually love the content of this channel, but i think the comparison against tech companies wasnt the best to determine how big is futbol , or at least not the main comparative.... maybe having a more in depth analisys against other sports in terms of reach, revenue and income per "fan" but also in terms of players averga salary vs "stars", etc.... i dont know if you have already but will be interesting to compare it whit NBA, MLB and Tennis that was briefly mentioned at the begining....
That's already been done and you can look it up. This video sees football as an entertainment business and compares it with Disney primarily. The Apple thing was just a brief mention to compare scales and and they said it themselves in the video that comparing sport to tech makes no sense because of the innovation advantage tech has.
Have never missed a video from this channel. Am your biggest fan. Great content
That's a great record to have! ❤️
Finally a video calling football football not soccer.
Interesting!
Now this sounds like a brilliant idea and a viable business model, unfortunately the big teams would be greasy and try to squeeze the rest
Well, football is a sport, not a business
WoW! Great video @AthleticInterest! Splendid! So well informed... Please continue making great content like this!
1:01 Retired players like David Beckham Ronaldinho and Gareth Bale.
Ain't nothing like a athletic video can't wait to watch this when I get home with a fresh cup of coffee.
It's designed to go with coffee! 😄 ☕️
Ronaldo and messi combined instagram followers being more than the whole nfl, nba, mlb and nhl athletes instagram followers combined is crazy. Still american media put lebron at 2 in terms of popularity ahead of messi. I simply can't stop laughing.
Great content as usual. Keep it up! This channel is only gonna grow even bigger!!
Thanks! We won't stop now 😄
Football might generate less revenue, but I don't think the CEO of Disney being like "no Coca" would cause Coca Cola to lose 4B in market value, the way Ronaldo did. That's just an example of what football could do.
faxss football amkes you an icon
You deserve all the praise people give you in the comment sectiobn. As somebody who's interested in sports and finance, this channel is everything I need. Been watching since the beggining and you never disappoint. Thank you.
Thank you!
Bale retired.....makes sense with the injury list 😂
Never change ur voice please, i love how ur storytelling thanks
Maybe you can make a content for "if football is the most popular sport in the world, why the richest sport team is Dallas Cowboys (NFL)?"
It's bcoz of USA. If Dallas is from another country then it didn't make revenue not even close .
I've always compared football revenues to Hollywood revenues, considering the influence of football, we are far from reaching the commercial potential.
Ngl this my new favourite page . Been coming on here and taking ideas for future references
Why can’t clubs make their own jerseys!? Is it that hard to set up a tiny factory 🏭 for them?
8:05 I got my answer.
best channel
ur way of presentation is the best
Wouldn't it have made much more sense in calling American Football as Soccer...that way you have two distinct games in Football and Soccer. As of now, no-one calls it Soccer and laughs when they call the game of "throwball" as football 😂
What about their Indians? Those arnt Indian either.
@@DaroriDerEinzige correct
"The word soccer comes from an abbreviation for Association (from Association Football, the 'official' name for the game) plus the addition of the suffix -er. This suffix (originally Rugby School slang, and then adopted by Oxford University), was appended to 'shortened' nouns, in order to form jocular words."
Rugby:
"mid 19th century: named after Rugby School (see Rugby), where the game was first played"
Each of your videos are very educational , each time when ı watch them i start to see new facts about sport
Simon Jordon (Talksport) said this many times for years that the Premiership should adopt a subscription service.
This channel is simply amazing! Funny! Creative! Informative! Always new!
Very kind! Thank you, Saaheb! 🤍
Can you do a video on how the super league would give more money to clubs?
Keep it up! Great content guys 💪🏻
Thanks, Pratik!
So what are you trying to say?
Everyone should be poor?
Just let the people pay for whatever the fuck they want.
Communist spotted.
Don't worry, 'passion' and 'togetherness' will run the sport.
Another stellar job! Can we get a video on international cricket next?
Why?
This Dude Always Comes Up With Something Interesting... Great Work Man...
Am I really spending 9 cents on Athletic Interest??? That's not enough !!!
It doesn't make any cents, does it? 😉
Your voice in the intro was super deep lmao
I've seen what you have done to Gareth Bale..🤣⛳

Make a vedio on IPL and how it changed cricket forever🙏

IPL destroyed the cricket forever.

Since when is Gareth Bale retired? 🤔
Since we decided to make a mean joke 😅
Football Represents Labor Freedom and Work Culture Freedom of a Country.
Thats why Labor Protected Countries are Great in Football.
Football is a Serious Profession not Entertainment.
Football is to Make Living. not Drama or Entertainment.
Footballers are highly Protected by Labor and Employee Laws.
I actually think something cool would be to compare f1 to futbol, because I think f1 is only getting bigger and has I believe better long term potential then futbol as the f1 wave is only starting vs futbol that has quite some time (just my thoughts)
*Another Top quality Video from Athletic Interest...what A blessing days...Bravo 👏👏👏👏👏👏*
Thanks, Emir!
imagine calling football soccer
💀
back at it again with A+++ editing quality
If Klopp, Tuchel, and Nagelsmann combined their knowledge into a youtube channel that would be Athletic Interest. The 🐐's of football youtube scene 👏 👏 👏

1:42 got me all "Wait What?"😂😂
Didn’t think I’d see a comparison between the team I support (York) and clubs like Bayern and Barcelona
Obvious comparison 😉
