Podcast Beyond Episode 382: Why We Love The Order's Length

- The new era of Podcast Beyond begins now. We talk about why we're excited that The Order errs on the short side, how hopeful we are about the Assassin's Creed movie, and offer up our idea for a gritty Gex reboot.
Beyond! Go get'em, guys!
Hey guys. This was a decent episode for there first. IGN's review of The Order is up on thursday morning. When is Kinda Funnys none-review up?
What do greg and Colin think of the new beyond?
Beyond!
Wow. It's really weird seeing a beyond podcast without greg and collin. Kinda sad actually.
BEYONCE !!
The issue is people don't feel that for $60 you should be paying for an experience that can be finished in 6 hours. I for one will not be getting this game until it is at the minimum $40. No one is saying it is a bad game due to it being short, many just simply think it is an overpriced experience.
If you think it is worth $60 then you should buy it. I find it funny that people label people who think this isn't valuable for them at this price haters or overreacting. I just think people are voicing their concerns.
If The Order wasn't an exclusive I'm sure not as many people would defend this game...Just saying.
Agreed. But I will keep whining to people buying these overpriced games.Unfortunately this and the early access and preorders and the dlcs etc etc, the more they buy em the more they destroy the market for the rest of us.For example if this game sells a lot at this price, their next game will be even shorter , wth would they make a longer game when they can have good sales on a short one?We vote we are wallets..
Agreed we have to stop pre ordering these games because as long as we keep doing it these games are going to be broken and half assed and they gone be like its cool we can patch it oh this game was too short oh don't worry get this season pass we got tons of stuff coming.
The fact is, games are incredibly expensive to make and even at 60 bucks it's incredibly difficult for games to make their money back. So when a game actually has the balls to release singleplayer only with a short campaign, I've got to give it props for that.
So many games add multiplayer for no reason, make their games way longer then they need to be simply to add "Value" when in reality all they are doing is making a worse game because of it.
***** And thats whats wrong with the industry today...you give them props for overcharging for a game and they think they can keep getting away with it you probably buy all the day one dlc and season passes to dont you !!!
Alastar Showers No YOU are what's wrong with the games industry today, you are the reason why Alien Isolation was padded to hell, you are the reason why every linear game feels like it has an extra 8 hours slapped on simply to shut people like you up.
If you don't like the price, don't buy it, wait till it goes on sale, adding extra gameplay takes away valuable development time that they could have been used to make a better fucking game instead of slapping on extras that nobody gives a shit about.
I'm sick of people who think that more content ALWAYS means better game, that's completely wrong.
Anything less than 10hours is just unacceptable.
True, your 1hour Stanley Parable run is much more memorable than an ordinary Game's 60hr run but then they don't cost 60$ either.
I love how they don't have Multplayer crap or anything but because of this same factor it is absolutely necessary to make this a long Campaign. *It's all about Price-to-Fun Ratio.*
Stanly parable wasn't made by a team of 60+ people
You're everything that's wrong with the gaming industry. Did you even listen to this podcast? Think about it like this. A movie which is usually 1:30 hour long is sold for $10-15, so, an 8+ hour campaign for $60 is incredibly good value for money. It's not all about price to fun ratio. That's such a foolish thing to say.
Stanley parable has really great replay value, and came out dirt cheap. Also is not a AAA title like the order. it is a full release of a MOD.
Jordan Tsouramanis Grinding in video games doesn't make up for cinematic movie experience, games are much more decompressed than movies.
There is way more depth in games than there is in movies. Just as you can rewatch a movie over and over again, so can you replay a game. People think games are a one off experience, one play and then it's back in for trade. Realistically, you should replay a game at least 2-3 times over a couple of years before you trade it in again. People that complain about the price tags of games are those that don't appreciate them. If you play the game once and never play it again, then you deserve to think you've wasted $60. Play the game once, enjoy it, then leave it for a few months, then you'll want to play it again. So don't tell me games are decompressed, that's also foolish. I'm trying to explain to you people the merits of media. Movies show content between 1:30 to 3 hours (sometimes) and are sold in retail between $10-20. Games on the other hand can show content between 1 and 70+ hours of content, of which the price can sometimes be relative. But AAA games have always had a $60 price tag, why oh why are you people complaining now?! Especially for a next gen game! Let us not forget that. Even if this was a third party game, it would still be sold for $60. Get off your cheap high horse and either wait for the game to be in sale, borrow it from a friend or suck up your self righteous ass and buy the game for however much they're selling it for.
The actual developers said that it could take you between 8-12 hours to complete on normal. The thing is it depends on the individuals style of play, I play all my games like RPG's where I'm trying to find everything possible in the game, all the collectibles, trying to get all the trophies, etc. So therefore it would take me longer to complete the game than someone that just wants to get to the next objective as soon as possible. For a game like Dark Souls 2, there are speed runs that can complete the game in 2 hours or less. Nobody is saying that it's a bad game, it really is up to the individual and what they like.
dark souls speed run has absolutely nothing to do with this game, only people who have beat the game and know the game up and down could do it or they can fight all optional bo.sses.... the order on the other hand you can't do that. Its a 5-10 hr game and that's it. its like saying if dark souls only had the 6-7 speed run b.osses and game was over after that. It would be just as bad. TRUST ME
6:30 The game would *NOT* be better if it were shorter. It would have been better if it did not become *BORING AND REPETITIVE AT SOME POINT*
You don't fix that by just making it shorter!
Do you also go to the theater and when you come out you say _"this move would have been better if it were 45minutes long instead of 90"_ ?
Like, are you serious?
If I buy a *SINGLEPLAYER ONLY GAME* then I *DEMAND* that simply completing the story takes at least *10 HOURS*
And that must be without completing all the assignments and side quests!
If the game was really good so that it has replay potential, *THEN* I will look into all the sidequests and achivements.
But do not try and tell me that when I complete the game without completeing the assigments and the sidequest that I am _"speedrunning"_
Thats an insult to everyone who actually does speedrunning.
Preach
I actually have come out of a movie thinking that it should have been shorter, so bad example there.
CJEJTHEDJ
It is not a bad example because you are good with paying the same amount of money even tho the runtime of the movie is just the half?
Because that is the issue with the games that are SP focused.
Games that have an SP I can complete in 4 hours are fine, *as long as I they cost about 30$*
If a company tries to sell me a SP only game for 60$ that I can complete in just 4 hours without "speedrunning", then I feel robbed.
CJEJTHEDJ then it was a shit movie
You pay the same for a 64 minute movie as you do for a 180 minute movie. Some movies DO overstay their welcome and I have no issue paying the same for less movie, if it removes an overlong finale, return of the king for example.
You guys really knocked it out of the park. This was amazing. Max and Marty, keep up the good work! I'll be sticking with you guys for sure, as well as keeping up with The GOG Show (AND The Comedy Button).
People who are taking sides... Why can't you like both?
BEYOND!
60$ for 5 hours seems ridiculous to me I know some people have disposable income but, I think most would consider that not a very good length especially if a lot of that is cut scenes. These guys really don't get it because they aren't your average consumer and work in the industry. Also was I the only one that found Max kind of annoying their is just something about him that get's on my nerves. He acts like he knows a lot about the industry but, he seems ignorant about a lot of things.
I agree, $60 for 5-9 hours of fun is ridiculous.
I don't care how good the game is.
Imagine if Skyrim had only 5-9 hours of content...
***** Great Idea.
Not dissing the game or anything.
For 5-9 hours of content I would dish out maybe $25 tops.
Max has been in the industry for years and is very knowledgeable. The Order is close to 9 hours. That's not huge but its far from the 5 hours you put out there. Who buys a game just to go from A to B. That's idiotic. You buy a game to play through it and experience everything.
norm welthagen For a single player 3rd person cover based shooter with no extra game modes yeah 5 hours is short. I am going by the leak because that is all we have to go by not sure where you got 9 hours from. I am sure their are collectibles in this game to pad it out but, I think once you are done with the story their will probably be very little to do because it seems so linear.
***** Its already been proven that the guy that uploaded that playthrough did a speedrun. He did no exploring, no extras. Just went from 1 point to the next. I'll get the game on Friday and play it over the weekend. You have my word, that if it is as short as that, I will let you know. But personally, I don't trust the internet!
this is very strange without Greg and Colin but still pretty great, I also always enjoy Marty's attire
A new era has begun. I wish Podcast Beyond a great future and I will continue to tune in every week. BEYOND!
I can't wait for BEYOND tomorrow .. honestly .. can we all just no focus on the title and the fact that many of us don't agree with their opinion but with the fact that they did a really good job after our beloved Greg and Colin left .. I actually really enjoyed this episode.
lol so few comments about the episode itself, thank you for being one of the few !
I agree, good episode, have a great one.
Give max a chance. I think this cast is about right. I definitely want Marty and Brian there.
One thing video game developers don't understand is that value is supremely important to game consumer, when I buy a game I want to know that I'm going to get feel like this was worth what I paid for it. The Order is just hitting all the wrongs on the checklist, zero-little replability, less than 6 hours of gameplay, No online companion, oh and my pet-peeve retailer specific dlc. My standard for gameplay hours is at least 12.
Meanwhile gamespot probably wasnt paid up and has a nice discussion on why short games for 60euros SUCK.
They were reluctant but realized that this stuff needs to be talked about!.
Gamespot suck ass.
Jared's weight loss is remarkable, good going mate
I think you guys did a great job with the podcast, it suprised me how good it ended up being. I'll be watching every week, keep up the good work!
Didn't much care for Jared at first but he's starting to grow on me. Beyond!!!
Why are people angry at a 5-8 hour game? I personally have a backlog of about 85 games now spanning back to the late 80's! I'm relieved when it's a shorter game with amazing production values.
I never got mad back in the NES day when I would be a game in under an hour.
Hell, you can beat Super Mario Bros. In under 6 minutes and I wouldn't want it any other way!
If you guys are fine with throwing away $60 for 5 hours worth of gameplay thats fine, and if you're too busy to play games that are longer than 5 hours then maybe you should rethink your career choice.
The problem is not just the length of games, its the price/replayability, does it have MP or other components beyond the SP side.
A SP game with no MP or anything else and charges full price for less than 10 hours is just unacceptable today, if you want a short game there are plenty of indie games out there.
Get a job ...7 hours for a single player game isn't that bad . So it's 59 bucks on psn that ain't nothing !
Danny Arenas No thanks, I'll pay $40 for a great game like Tales of Hearts R and easily spend 5 times that amount of time. This isn't about "getting a job" this is about wasting your hard earned money and allowing developers and publishers to screw over the consumer.
Not sure what career choice has to do with anything. It's called having a social life, personal endeavors, spouse, etc. those take up time too bud. But I guess we don't all have that in our lives . Me personally I'm buying the Order.
-Phoenix
Ryan Phoenix When your career is to do with games and playing games, not having the time to play them is pretty detriment to that career.
Ryan Phoenix Again, why is having a game with a lot of content a problem then? If it's a good game and you're spending your hard earned money on it, then wouldn't you want it to last you awhile? That way you don't feel the need to spend even more money on yet another game. Take a JRPG on Vita like P4G or Tales of Hearts R or Ys: Memories of Celceta, for example. Maybe you can't spend a lot of time on it in one sitting, but you can easily play a little at a time. It's not going to take you forever to beat it, especially if you can carry it with you. That's the way to wisely spend your money, just FYI.
I never felt the length of Alien Isolation. It was perfect
I agree. I loved every minute of Alien Isolation.
Make you think again how it was Greg and Colin who actually built this podcast up.
Kinda missing the old days
Good luck to the new team!
GOOD LUCK GUYS, I BELIEVE IN YOU!
BEYOND!!!!!
Also, I don't mind The Order's length as long as I find it a fun experience. I use like 20 bucks every time I go see a movie so.... 3 movies =1 cool game, I'm in. But people should buy it when they feel it is appropriate for them to buy it (ie a lower price).
Thanks for the laughs guys! Looking forward to next weeks episode :) BEYOND!
Max rocks. Miss Greg and Colin. The show will be just fine.
Came here for colin and Greg, staying here for the conversation and community!! BEYOND! Max and Marty are going to be great!! In 6-12 months, Max and Marty are going to have killer chemistry!
Even though its a little strange not seeing Greg and Colin at the helm of Beyond, Max and Marty seem to understand what it means to the community to produce the podcast. I believe that eventually the great content that we've grown accustomed to will come, as long as that passion for the community and games in general are the heart of everything they talk about.
Good luck with the podcast guys, we're all looking forward to it.
BEYOND.
An long as you guys talk playstation ill tune in. You guys will never be able to take colin and Greg's place and the show will never be the same, but you guys might make something that new and good soo best of luck.
Great first episode guys. Keep up the great work.
The thing is, if its short its short, as long as its good im fine with that. But it seems like there's more cutscenes than actual gameplay. If its 5-6 hours of mostly gameplay with some cutscenes, fine, but it looks like its mostly cutscenes with minor gameplay.
The Deadliest Warrior games are basically the spiritual successor to Bushido Blade, fights can end in seconds or last minutes. Awesome couple of games that any fan of Bushido Blade needs to play.
F... awesome choices, 4 guys I love doing a podcast and I still get to watch Greg and Colin in their chanel, I'm so freaking happy. Thank you guys so much.
I like to believe that Marty is always a little bit drunk.
BEYOND !
This is just damage control from fanboys in this video. There is a difference between being a fan and a fanboy corporate slave. No PS fan should be happy that they can platinum this game in one day. Thank God Bloodborne is of a higher standard. You'd think these so called 'pros' would at least have the integrity to call this out but no they just suck it up because they don't wanna upset Sony. It's ridiculous. I hope no other exclusive or game on any platform this year is as wasteful as this.
could you freaking wait till the fucking game is out before shouting freaking damage control....GEEZ.fucking gaming generetion :/
Tomy Roe meh...didn watch that video.dont really thrust ign for that.
Tomy Roe LOOOL
I don't know man, easy platinum's get me excited.
Tomy Roe Are you seriously equating game length with quality? Some of the best games ever made are short, look at Doom, not a second wasted, every second of that game is perfectly designed.
I'm a Fallout fan, I love huge game worlds with long game lengths but not every game needs to be like that. This shallow minded bullshit needs to end now.
I think 40 dollars would be a perfect price for The Order.
Love the new show, guys. It can only get better!
I love max way more than I should...
Great job, You guys have great chemistry together. Beyond!!
S'go-ville!! Knockin it out the park!
The torch is in safe hands.
Beyond.
People shouldn't be complaining about how long and how much replay value the Order has because there has been several AAA games that not only were single player only, but they also had about the same amount of replay value and run time as the Order. Uncharted Drake's Fortune is a great example not only was it single player only, but it's also about a nine hour game. So why does It matter now how long the Order is?
I completely agree with Mr. Scoville on the game length "issue". I want a game that I can potentially finish over a weekend or two when I have time off from work (and the girlfriend). This is supposed to be a filmic experience as he, and the developers, have stated on numerous occasions. This personally excites me, because I adore films and whenever I can get my hands on a game that draws me in like a film does in terms of story, I'm happy.
I don't mind The Order being 5-10 hours long with no replayability or MP but I have no intention of paying $60 for that short of an experience, once it costs about $30 I'll buy it in a heartbeat.
Nice job guys! don't listen to haters
Having no multiplayer. It being 6-8 hours long might be an issue to justify it being £50. If you don't want to spend £50 on it when it comes out. It's pretty simple. Just wait! Give it like 4-5months till the price drops, buy it used, or borrow it from a mate.
Agree.
There's loads of people playing the game already, they said and I quote "The game is awesome/ worth getting, and the atmosphere is beautiful.
It's more than 5 hours, realistically you're looking at 8-10 hours, possibly longer if you take your time, play on hard difficulty, and go for all the collectibles. The Order: 1886 is not a great game, but that isn't because of the length, it's for other reasons.
Anyway, I really enjoyed this episode and I think Max and Marty make very good hosts of Beyond! Jared and Brian are always great too.
I like short games because I can get through them quickly and have time to play more games on my backlog. That being said,I do not like paying a premium price for relatively short games. The order sounds like a great 20$ experience but not a 60$ game.
Felt to me like what The Comedy Button would be like if they segmented in video game news. Looking forward to more and seeing how Marty and Max make Beyond their own.
I'm liking Beyond! 2.0.
It will be a different show, but it's in good hands with Max, Marty, Brian & Jared. BEYOND!
I enjoy games that I can complete in one sitting. It feels like a more complete experience. Start - finish. Get home from work on the friday, put the game on, play it all night and through to saturday morning. Happy times. If the game requires more than a few sittings then there's a danger for me that I may leave it for a few days (if life gets in the way) and then the experience feels broken up. It's the same for films. It's better to finish a film in one sitting rather than watching 20 minutes here, 20 minutes there. I understand that it's not possible with games like Skyrim etc, but for these 'cinematic' games that we'll be seeing a lot more of, 5-10 hours is a nice length.
..that being said, really enjoyed hearing the new lineup. I'll make this a regular listen again.
Feel I need to balance out all the negativity. This episode was the best Beyond I've watched by miles; and I've seen alot. I like all four hosts and wasn't bored at all as you didn't stay on any one topic for two long. Some good humour in there as well. Keep up the good work.
Keep Beyond Alive Marty
I believe in you!!!
Playstation Nation!
This episode has exceeded my expectations. Well done guys! See you next week! :)
I understand the love for Bushido Blade, but by no means, in the huge catalog of PlayStation games, does it deserve a place in the top 50.
I'll only consider picking up The Order if it gets a good review score, but even so it would just be something to kill my time till Bloodborne is released.
If it takes me anything over 8 hours to complete, I'm fine with it.
Yes, now I have to podcasts to listen too, KindaFunny and Beyond!
Good Job Guys! Keep up the great work. It can only get better!
bushido blade brings back some great memories. amazing game and a great first choice for you new segment. BEYOND!
Great job guys
Podcast is in safe hands
Guys, you did a great job with Beyond so keep it up as they new gen of this wonderful podcast
The podcast was good, but it will never be as good without Colin, Greg and all their great segments.
It doesn't matter how busy you are, what matters is the message that you're sending to developers and publishers by supporting something like this. Not to mention if it's a good game then why would you want to beat it in one day? Why are you eager to spend more of your hard earned money on more games? Wouldn't you instead want a $60 game to last you awhile?
Considering I play games on harder difficulties and enjoy getting platinum trophies, I'd imagine I will get at least 10 hours out of The Order 1886. I don't think I'm willing to pay $60 for the experience, but then again I rarely buy any game at $60. I usually wait for games to be free on plus or on sale below $30. But as far as the length of games, I love shorter games. I think my 2 favorite game experiences over the past few years have been Journey and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. But to be honest, I would have never experienced those games if they had not been $15/free on PS+.
Hard to fill the shoes of Greg and Colin, but I thought you guys did great, given the pressure and it being your 1st episode! BEYOND!!!
"We Love The Order 1886 Length" when it comes out "8/10 too short"
So Playstation finally has its own Ryse: Son of Rome. Big deal.
It was a speedrun on easy to get the first full-run footage on RUclips. Do you have any idea how many games you can finish in around 5 hours if you blast through them? It's a lot. Pretty sure you could do it with the last dozen Call of Duty games (granted, they have multiplayer, but there are other examples).
Ryse was actually fun. It had a good and cinematic story and the arena mode was very fun.
The Order doesnt have any mp i dont think?
TheElviz86 Ryse was actually fun.....................said no one ever.
Maybe, but at least ryse has Co-op play.
JARED IS NOW MY FAVORITE!!! He mentioned 3D Dot Game Hero! That game was phenominal and IGN never mentions it ever. Is there a secret behind that??
I love the new show! Everyone felt totally comfortable with giving me the latest Playstation news.
The new segment is interesting, I can't wait to see what other games are nominated.
However, I think that the worst playstation name should still be a topic because it ends the show in a lighthearted ended and its sometimes hilarious. It also reminds Shu to let us change our names.
Uncharted games are typically ~8 hours long. Nobody beats those games up.
People just like to complain on the internet, which is understandable.
You are too understandable to human nature, therefore I hate you and everything related to your existence.
lol, jk.
FINALLY!!! We have Jared permanently! He and Marty are the man!
He isn't permanent sadly.
I enjoyed this new Beyond but it's definitely different which isn't really a bad thing. I like everyone who was in this episode but I think that just three people would be better. BEYOND!
what people seem to forget is that the game is $60 in America, here in Ireland the cheapest i can find is 66euro which is $75. im sure you guys would feel much worse if ye had our price, and i wouldnt feel as bad about it if it was $60/45euro here but thats not the case and i was really looking forward to the order as a new IP. now ill have to wait to borrow it off a friend.
It just hit me.....I really want you guys to make this a new kind of amazing!!
IGN Prices Table - Updated Feb 20th, 2015:
We'll support your game for a week: $3.000
We'll support your game for a week and defend it on RUclips: $5.000
We'll support your game as mentioned above and post an 'Okay' Review score (not valid for PS Vita games): $12.000
All of the above, and we tell our affiliate sites to do the same: 1/10th game sales profit.
Got a funny feeling The Last Guardian will be at E3 this year
For everyone complaining about The Order, don't buy it ;)
If you're not sure about the game then atleast wait 1 f*cking day so you have some solid info instead of re-posting the same thing over and over again, I've read that the game is everywhere from 3-12 hours from comments, that just shows how exaggerated this whole thing is. ONE guy beat the game fast, I haven't watched it cause I want to experience the game myself, but from what I've read he did a speedrun.
And basing a games worth in hours is so ridiculous, it's like they said in the podcast - If the game is short, the price should be lower and if the game is super long, then should'nt it be more expensive?
I play for the experience, not the hours. I've been excited for The Order for a long time and based on every single piece of gameplay, behind the scenes videos, articles and interviews - Thinking this game would be longer than max 15hours(hypothetically) is stupid. The Order is a concentrated linear, very narrative game that relies heavily on storytelling.
And bashing the game before any reviews or "trusted" info(people that respect embargos) is out there is stupid. Just don't buy the game then, it's not like Shuhei Yoshida is going to break into your home and cut off you dick if you don't buy The Order...
Hmmmm a lot better than I expected. You guys will do fine!!
I'm fine with a shorter length as long as the game is either cheaper or it is packed with additional content.
The Order does neither, and the game sales will reflect this. Just don't pretend you're surprised when it does..
I've been a hardcore PS fan since 95 but the last couple of months of the ps4 has made switch over to the PC master race and I've been loving it so far. I kept my ps4 to play esclusive games on the console but the only other game I'm looking forward to now is uncharted 4. I was super excited for the order 1886 now I think I'm just going to play these games from gamefly
Alright IGN here is my criticism; Overall the podcast was a good start and it was comedic. I would like in the future to get the news out there right away. That's why I listened to Beyond, they gave you the news of the week right upfront and they usually covered everything, even Obscure JRPG's. Other thing is I don't really care for the new segment since its not relevant to the NOW, I would more like to see you guys open up a poll for requested features on PS4 and have your discussion on the top 5 everything week be an ending segment. Just remember NEWS is the most important reason I watch and I don't want this to be an Maco PlayStation podcast more of a Micro per week.
Good luck guys, looking forward to what this podcast will become :)
why is everyone up in arms about this... i think its foolish to argue about this. Look... this game is not for everyone... no game on planet earth is for everyone... if you are the type to want a 50 hour RPG or a competitive multiplayer title with tons of downloadable content and replay-ability go and buy those games... if you are the college student who is always studying and has a job on the side and doesn't have as much time as everyne else and just wants a game he can be invested in for a weekend of a holiday, then buy the order. Its all about the experience you desire, and like it or not there is a market of consumers who want a game like this, very casual, simple mechanics easy to just jump into and enjoy.
Now look i would never buy this game full price ever, but thats because i love games like league of legends and hearthstone where every night i can come in from work/school, play a match or two then head off to bed... for console gaming im an rpg fan, love me my dark souls and dragon's dogma. But i would never berate someone for preferring games like the order 1886and whatever. To each his own. And i dont get the dislike for this video.. these guys aren't saying they don't care if every game is sub 10 hours... they are just saying its ok for a cinematic experience like this one...
excited to see where the show goes from here, everyone should give max an honest chance instead of writing him off for whatever stupid reasons
Podcast beyond, the new generation. 6.5/10
All the best guys with the new Podcasts!
I really loved the new format, great chemistry. Petty needs to be a regular.
A very good show, i can't wait until next week.
I would rather play a 5 hour good game than a 25 hour bad one, that's how I would describe most games nowadays. Shamelessly padding their games because that apparently adds "Value." Make the game as long as it needs to be, no more, no less.
I'm sick of people complaining when a game is tightly constructed, but short. That's good design. Oh and I don't own a PS4 and have no interest in this game, I just fall on this side of the argument.
Bushido blade is fucking incredible, new segment is good.
First things first, Max is HILARIOUS!! Seriously, I was dying laughing every time he said anything. Great addition. But it seems like he's a little "OK that's enough we gotta move on" ish. They'll get they're own format down as well. Still loving it though BEYOND!!
Decent first show. I'm sure your others will get better with time. Just have to get the flow.
I agree.I'd rather have 4 good 30 hour games than one 120. Some of games seem to add collectibles and excessive side-quests to get the hour count up..
Also why wouldn't people wait for sales? Shadows of Modor looked great but I wasn't about to spend 60$ on it. And with the buggyness of it on the PS3 I'm glad I got it on sale for 20$.
I knew Max and Marty could do it! An awesome first episode guys. I'm glad you've scrapped the old memes/segments. I loved them but they are a Greg/Colin/Clements thing. The Kings are dead, long live the Kings!
$40 for AAA exclusives and massive games like Skyrim and Red Dead
$30 for Multiplats and annual releases like Assassins Creed and Call of Duty
$25 for Madden
That's how to do it. Try that at least with digital and sales will jump significantly.
I love people complaining about the length of the order when every uncharted took me a little over 7 hours to play and it's some of the best time I've put into a game and never thought wow I wish it was longer. Where as a game like bioshock infinite which I love but felt like it could have cut a few hours and would've been just as good if not better. Given I have yet to get my copy today of the order or seen the lets plays for it but I'm sure they felt this was all the time they needed to tell the story or at least the beginning of it and maybe do a sequel where they fix problems people have with the game.
Resident Evil, Viewtiful Joe, Metal Gear Solid, Megaman, Castlevania, Super Mario World, God of War, Metal Gear Rising, Mirror's Edge, Starfox, Metroid. Oh, that's just a few CLASSIC short games off the top of my head that would have been quite expensive at launch. Short games are nothing new and I don't get why people think that it is a recent trend set by developers.I'm not here to debate the whole cost to playtime ratio and what is acceptable. I'm just simply pointing out that some of the greatest games released for their systems happen to be very fucking short.
this is Awesome! max is one of my huge roll models, but the only thing is we need to try to stay on task! and make sure you guys don't beat off the path and talk about candy bars.
Great first episode guys, looking forward to the future
I'd much rather have a thousand short 4 hour games than another Assassins Creed
About halfway through I realized that this is exactly what i hoped for. You guys did great I think, while ya didnt stick to the news that much this time im ok with that. I think other Beyond fans dont care how long the video is (least I dont) I love zonig out listning to you guys talk as I hunt in monster hunter on play any of my handhelds/ or go for a walk for as long as your podcast goes. Thank you for not sticking to the formula cause thats not what beyond is to me at least.
Everyone is talking about how order 1886 is overpriced for a short experience blah blah
Has anyone noticed this episode of Beyond! was a total mess? I couldn't wait for it to end :(
I like you guys but please make it interesting, don't just fill it up because you have to. Like new dissidia is not even a playstation game, it's ok to mention it but you talked about arcade for like 15 to 20 minutes after that.
I don't know, I hope the podcast get better in time.
Thank you though
🙋

Damn, Bushido Blade, one of the best and truly unique fighting games I have ever played!
