G'day! Wow! It reminds you of "Stop, Look, and Listen"... Literally, to stop before crossing a street or railroad, looking and listening to make sure no cars or trains are coming. Lol! Cheers! :-)
Nice catch on the old Penn Central engine, considering PC went out of business in 1976. Sure looks like a hard life notice the one-eye headlight and the numbers left of it look hand painted. I can imagine that kid had just enough time to jump out from under it but not enough to drag the bike out. That is a very close call. Wonder what story he's going to tell when he gets home?
@@surfliner456 I don't disagree. New technology has made the industry safer. That began way back with the advent of air brakes I never said we are hauling 'less tonnage'. In 2023 we hauled about the same ton miles as 2000. Rail has been fairly consistent in the past 20 plus years (1, 522 in 2022 vs 1,465 in 2000). But if you go back to 1990 you can see the increase from a 1,033 year). In this period of time we have far more 110 ton cars which makes up part of the difference.

Wow. I know I see crazy people doing crazy things on railroad crossings. I have a video of two kids on bikes running the gates when they were down about 15 seconds or so.The trains on this crossing run about 30 or so mph. Nice on the Penn Central. That heritage unit needs cleaned or repainted.
