- We visit the gorgeous town of Garni, Armenia and film a part of the village you may not have ever seen before.
Situated directly above the Symphony of Stones: en.wikipedia.o...
lies the property of Carl Ulbricht, an UK/German expat who owns the Garni Craft Centre there: / garnicrafts
The property is right on the edge of the Garni Gorge and the view is absolutely stunning.
Carl tells us about his background, why he chose to live in Armenia and why he bought the property in Garni and made a craft centre there.
Before taking a tour of the Garni Craft Centre, Mrs Mitch, Sushma and I take a walk around the village and show the idyllic little streets, houses and an amazing "hidden church" Surb Astvatsatsin (which I think is really called, "Mashtots Hayrapet Church"). Then we continue on down to the Symphony of Stones and met one of our subscribers, Ranjit from India, who took a couple of photos..thanks Ranjit🙏
Then we return to the Garni Craft Centre where Carl shows and tells us all about the products he and other local weavers produce, using natural dyes.
If you would like to visit the Garni Craft Centre, please contact Carl as it's by appointment only:
Mobile: +374 94 664348
Email: carlulbricht@yahoo.com
To purchase any of the products from the Garni Craft Centre please go to this Buy Armenian link:

Carl also speaks fluent Armenian and works as a civil lawyer in Yerevan...so if anyone needs advice on property or other civil matters etc; please use the same contacts as above.

This video is very kind, very interesting, very useful and very inspiring. Mr and Mrs Mitch we missed you. Thank you Carl for your personality and dedication.
@anahitpetrosyan1749...such kind words...thank you🙏
Karl is a fascinating man and Garni is a fascinating village. If I remember, it’s only 38km from Yerevan. Thank you for an excellent video Mitch!
@johnarmstrong3140...thanks so much John. Yes, Carl is a real gentleman and we love Garni very much...not far from Yerevan too!❤🙏
Armenian Village Life is adorable!
This is such a hidden gem I’ve found. The scenery there looks heavenly, and the people are so fascinating. Who would’ve thought others would come out to armenia and learn the language fluently and enjoying a long life there.
@opufy...yes, it's a wonderful place... even amidst the tragedy of our brothers and sisters from Artsakh having to flee from their ancient homeland...🙏
Hello from California , amazing episode like always , thanks for all this beautiful videos
@aidaovasapyan9951...thanks so much Aida jan🙏
What a fascinating life adventure has Karl had. Another hit video Mitch. Keep on keepin on.
Thanks for the information about Carl. My impression is that Carl is an unusual person who came from London, he tries to share his experience to rural residents of Armenia. This is a rather bold and romantic act, which is still quite rare for expats in Armenia. Good luck and health to you and your loved ones, Carl.)))
@sergeyarutyunyan5281...Thanks Sergey, even though this response is 9 months in the making! I think you're absolutely right about Carl...he's certainly an exceptional human being, having done what he's done here in Armenia. Immersing himself in the culture and language of an Armenia and then marrying someone from here as quite amazing! He puts me to shame, because I cannot speak Armenian, albeit for a few important phrases.
I really enjoyed your video. Thanks to all of you.
Armenia village life is so nice and simple
@prakashbandekar4927...yes it is!
Thankyou again for yet another wonderful journey in the Motherland. Garni is a beautiful location and love the weaving of the Craft Centre
@peterdavidian4359...thanks Pete🙏

Really enjoying seeing the country through these videos, thanks Mitch and Mrs Mitch!
What an amazing mixture of spectacular landscape, history and human ingenuity past and present in this video! Add to that the warmth of the people you convey to us in this take of Armenian rural life! Kudos!

I've always wanted to live here. Can't wait to check out your video.
@Kitty-ig4yh...yes, Garni is a magical place❤️
Veri nice
❤❤❤
I really like the direction your channel is going. You're doing amazing work interviewing interesting people of Armenia. Plus the nature is spectacular! To live so close to all that beauty is unheard of here in the USA. I hope Armenia doesn't become developed enough where growth destroys nature.
@Kitty-ig4yh...thanks so much for your encouraging words. Now that Mrs Mitch has retired, we plan to visit the regions/villages much more and interview the amazing people who live there🙏
Some great commentary and sights - well done.
@GreatCityAttractions...thank you🙏
Great❤️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@angelina-ve1hd...thanks Angel🙏❤
Hiii mitch i am from india 🇮🇳 and i am planning to come to Armenian for work.
If you need any help than let me know.
Dear miss and mister Mitch you are amazing couple last of positive energy we enjoy all your videos , please I want to know about you more details how you meet and do you have any children ? How you choose to live in Armenia,
@aidaovasapyan9951... Thanks for your question, but it's probably best answered via email...Please go to our channel page (click on our photo) then select 'About' then 'Business email. You'll see my email there. Please use a normal computer or laptop as Smartphones won't reveal the email🙏

According to legend, Hayq (Armenia) is a descendant of Prophet Noah who is the ancestor of all Armenians. Greetings from Indonesia
Hello im Indian 🇮🇳
Armenia is a country with immense potential, but I have encountered several issues while living here. To illustrate, I purchased a scooter for work purposes, and upon attempting to register it, I was informed that my Indian driver's license was not acceptable. Instead, an Armenian license was required. As a result, I applied for an international license, which was granted, but I was subsequently informed that only an Armenian license would suffice. I am unsure if the validity of an international license is recognized in Armenia, and I continue to experience similar challenges on a daily basis.
@spokenenglishchannel6972...yes, sadly this is a common problem and it seems like there's an easy solution. Unfortunately, no one seems to be taking the initiative to fix the system...let's hope it changes soon, because other expats tell me it's a real deterrent to staying here long term
@@ArmenianLifewithMitch Thank you for taking the time to provide me with your insightful response. Your contribution is greatly appreciated, and I value your perspective on the matter.
Great videos Mitch. Awesome and thank you ! Armenia is a mysterious country to me as there is not much expat info about that beautiful country. What is the best mode of Travel in Armenia? Is it public transport or do we need cars? I have also wondered how do you exchange dollars over there. Do we have to go to banks or are there forex shops around the city where we can get good rates?
@darp007...If you're coming for a visit, you definitely do not need a car of your own. You can hire a driver who will take you anywhere...you need to do your research though, so don't just take the first driver. Public transport in Yerevan is dirt cheap and so are taxis. If you plan on having a good look around Armenia you can join a Facebook group called Secret Yerevan and ask about good reliable drivers and what you want to do.
Yes, there are many places you can go to exchange money...the best is probably SAS Supermarket chain...they're everywhere.
All the best
hello , I have visited Garni for min. 6 times, but not the 4 last years(covid) ,but didn't know about Carl's Craft Center . Is there a guidepost for it near the entrance of Garni temple, so that tourists not just pass over without knowing ?
@anyweb4871...no, there are no guidepost and it's only open by appointment at this stage, as Carl doesn't live in Gyumri
@@ArmenianLifewithMitch // Gyumri ? But the pictures of the garden/surroundings next the deep gorge, and house of Craft center are from GARNI , aren't they ? And he lives in Garni , does he ?
Armenia please don't lose your charm by becoming westernized. It's not great out here and the future of globalization looks dystopian. I wish I was brought up in Armenia, preferably in a village. There's nothing better than a simple, organic, humble life in nature. Karl is fascinating and I'd wish to be friends with him. I'd love to learn to do embroidery work and I'm glad this type of folk art is still alive and well.
@Kitty-ig4yh...Amen to that🙏
karl how long did it take you to learn armenian
@cuteandfunny9154...not sure if Carl will see this, so I'll ask him. I think basic Armenian he learnt very quickly, but not sure how long it took him to become fluent
Plz job work plzz help me 🙏
If you are currently outside of Armenia, pls don't come here looking for work...there are reports of too many problems🙏
