    Life saving lol also apparently it’s a 15 mm socket instead of 14

    Thanks, this video was helpful. I found that on my '98 Dodge 1500, the tensioner requires a 15 mm tool, not a 14 mm. Perhaps that is something they changed between 96 and 98.

    Thanks for the effort. You did the best you could with what you had available. Unfortunately I couldn't see enough inside to determine exactly how to install it. I think I would be able to get it off, but without more visual on how to wrap it back on, I don't think I can do it. Off to the mechanic I go. 😔

      There is a routing sticker on bar in front of the radiator to show you exactly how to route the belt.

    What size motor is this?? I took my belt off to change my water pump and once i put everything back together my tensioner won't go over far enough to reinstall my belt and i don't have no diameter sticker on the front of the truck to tell me how it goes

    O.K. So how do you do it with the damn fan in there ? Do you work it around the fan and then between the fan and the radiator ? Would be really damn nice to see that part.

      I would have to agree with you not very informative with the fan off. I tried to put it around the fan it didn't work so I went from the passenger side doubled the belt together and stuck it between the crankshaft pulley and idler pulley. Then looped it around the crankshaft pulley and then around the on the idler on top of crankshaft pulley. Then on power steering and then the rest of the pulleys on top It took me a couple minutes doing it this way.

    How do you know when the serpentine belt is going bad?

    • @michaelonesty
      @michaelonesty Год назад

      It will look like old rubber, kind of a white tint to it. Along with a bunch of cracks throughout the belt grooves, similar to a dry rot tire.

    Let me save people a headache I thought I was putting the belt on wrong and was always loose but the direction was right. I have a 1999 318 but I put the 2000-2002 crank pulley which is smaller got to get a belt slightly smaller for the crank if you swapping the pulley

    Would of have been better with a quick note on how to determine if your tensioner is bad, because I’m turning mine righty tight and the tensioner won’t move . Now if I turn it left the tensioner gets loose. But not in a way it’s easy to move belt on to alternator. It’s going g to be a fuckmother.
