They've completely changed the aiming system this update as well; there is basically no carry over in terms of skill. Feels like im having to learn how to aim again lmao
i think the biggest thing with it is that slightly moving the mouse now messes with the range if they revert it to the old way where mouse wheel was the only way to mess with range i think it could still work plus having the range reverted back to meters not km would really help with getting more precise shots and having the range of the target next to your gun range again would be alot better... idk though i dont think i care enough anymore lol
Yes, the new aiming system has rebalanced the entire existing playerbase. Those of us that had grown accustomed to the older system are now left in confusion as our ranging adjustments are less linear, and the aiming assistance leads us in the wrong direction. It will take another hundred matches to get it nailed down again.
I've been playing naval for about two years now, and became very accustomed to the aiming system. With the Direct Hit update, I have completely relearn the aiming system all over again. Frustrating to say the least.

@@etl4967 when your in a cruiser with no fire protection and no repair, while only having HE, when you vs ships that you literally cannot damage and one random bullet sets you on fire and your basically dead, oh the vehicle repair cost is about 15k sl so your bleeding money like its going out of fashion

completely unrelated but WOW, seeing the difference between a 2004 game and a 2018 game... transonic vapor cone, wingmen commands (is that what the yes/no/atk etc is?), arguably more fluid flight animation (even if still on rails)... the only thing AC7 has above this is *graphics*. just wow
Yes/No are random questions asked throughout the missions- Some actually decide what mission you'll play next, specifically for missions 11, 12, and 16. In the bottom left, there are squad commands; Down is "Cover", left is "Disperse", up is "Attack", and right toggles on their special weapons. You can also choose every squadmate's plane, along with having multiple versions of each plane in trade for selectable weapons. For instance, an F/A-18C gets LASM's, and by getting kills in it, you unlock the F/A-18E with XMAA. By playing the E variant you unlock the EA-18G with ECMP. It's a really cool system and gives Ace Combat 5 tons of variety, and it's a shame it didn't come back in various games.
yeah I stopped playing naval after my first 5.3 match after getting ROFLstomped by dreads also I’m not gonna quit WT until I get to play Italian Seaplanes, i really love all of them and just don’t see them anywhere else
Your channel really got me in to navel combat and i think the devs need to speak to the world of war ships guys because there maps are fun to play and the aiming dosent feel wonky at all and they could lern some stuff from them also the low br ships are fun af

I haven't played since the event started and couldn't be happier. Checking the update out i see they cater to lobotomized players, making it easier and easier for nublets to press button and receive bacon. Wish i could donate my 200 milion convertible rp. Playerbase reached the point where they can't even win a simple tank or air assault. I'm done with this garbage too.
Hello, just like to say that I’ve recently started watching your content within the last 2 weeks. The information has been quite helpful and I’ve been able to improve my game play in naval. At the moment I’m just about to unlock the Atlanta tier
I almost feel torn between adding a like or dislike here. On one hand, I do enjoy reviewing your existing content, on the other, I hate to see one of the good creators give up on the game. With all that being said, it is hard to argue with the reasoning behind it all. Life is too short and too hard to make a game, or a RUclips commitment add pressure to it.

Its a bummer to hear man, you are one of the few Warthunder content creators whos opinion I respect still. But I completely understand your reasoning, I think you mentioned in a previous video how naval is radically changed every patch and its again happened. I sometimes feel like Gaijin knows there is a problem with naval but has no idea how to fix it or listen to player feedback. So instead they throw out random and radical changes in the hopes something will stick and make it good.

Uninstalled WT some months ago, after watching WT videos every month to get a understanding how WT is going there is no suprise that you now also quit WT, there are so many CCs and long term players wich have enaugh.
they changed the BR... brooklyn is 6.0 porter is 5.0 battleships are 6.3+-6.7.. haven't done too many matches but... liking it with out a batleship. turned off the aim system and went back to kentucky windage because its faster onUS boats. new update doesnt seem like a new damage model...but some odd mega hits have happened... 2x1000lbs have randomly sunk a wyoming in test... only did it once so not sure but attack from back to front. also this change seems recent3-4 days?? as i dint notice it the last few weeks. maybe i didnt notice
Totally understandable decision, when looking at the horrible state of high BR Naval battles. Not only are the BB's ruining cruiser gameplay, but the BB's among each other aren't balanced at. The Hyuga and the Russian ones are just one-shotting the others, while the others still suffer from the grotesque repair costs. At BR 4.3 or 4.7 I still enjoy Naval RB, though. And I fear your right when it comes to Gaijin's announcement to raise the BR range for Naval. Since we haven't heard anything since then, it will be most likely connected to the next major patch - which will bring the BR raise along with even more overpowered BB's. Maybe at least some of the current BB's are taken to 6.3 then and all BB's will be sucked into the new top BR matches. This might extend the playable BR range to 5.0 or even 5.3 then.
I feel ya man, 😫 this new update sucks Even as an arcade player the new aiming is atrocious and is especially games with the fucking lead on enemy ships with a bright green circle, looks horrible I really hope they change it back, I also don’t need to see a ducking countdown for the reload on my canons that takes up a big part at the bottom of the screen... it was fine before

Honestly I feel the same. Update Direct Shit only made naval worse, the Fire director system gives completely inaccurate lead indicators unless their sailing parallel to you and it’s honestly just another thing to break when you don’t have tool set to repair them. Don’t even get me started on the repair costs. I’m sick of having to spend 20k SL because I got clubbed by a dreadnought in my Cleveland.
It will be better for you and everyone else in the long run. You may have withdrawal syndrome for 2-3 days till you fill the gap but after 1-2 months you'll feel so liberated by not going to "the second job". It's better to go grind something else that doesn't bring that turmoil to your wellbeing.
I've already had the game uninstalled for around 3 months, the withdrawal syndrome hit the hardest when I let a 4-year daily login expire. But, after that, nothing was drawing me back.
I wanted so badly to love this mode, but every match makes me want to literally cry. I can't pay or play enough to grind past 5.0 ships, and 9 out of 10 games feels like I'm outmatched. I don't feel like I'm a crappy player, I can consistently land shots, I can dodge shots, I can flank. Damage is calculated so weirdly. I can land 10 salvos on a destroyer in a Krasny, be lucky to start a fire, only to sunk in one. But it means so little, and it rewards so little. Even if I have a good game and the team loses, I may as well have not played. I'm trying to stay an active player to keep it alive and not be left behind, but it's not fun for me, and the new aiming system made things way worse for me.
Damn everyone has to follow what they enjoy :D I also had an discussion mid match with someone who complained about a Single Heavy Cruiser and how hard it is to kill and i said im basicly the same ship with smaller canons but then they went on explaining that heavy cruiser have more armor which is not true at least for the japanese and at least for the one the opponent played because i know it was basicly the same ship as mine xD
the problem with naval is that they cant really reasonably make their BRs make sense. like, if we get the tirpitz or at 8.7 or smn, that thing would be facing cold war aircraft.
it's sad that gaijin always messing up with naval gameplay, first the damage model (that german premium minesweeper is very hard to damage after damage model update), then the aiming system, and i already have a bad feeling about the new mechanics well, thanks for the tips so far mate, we will never forget you ( '-')7

Yeah. I have playing War Thunder since April 2014 and there are still some problems. Naval I think needs to have a complete over hall in BR. Personally I would lock the Air BR at like 6.3, and do something like World of Warships where you have Tier 1 Battleships, and then you have areas where Destroyers can battle, and Battleships can fight each other without the DDs having to fight BBs. Cause I think it is completely unfair that my Brooklyn has to fight a Battleship with no way to kill it
I do naval WT video on my YTB channel for french people, and every time i try to do video with original ship my game are doommed by BB, USS Moffett or kamikaze, and play naval is not fun, just pain.
When I stopped playing (back in January, when they turned on RB mixed battles) Naval was probably one of the worst game modes in WT; the worst being Helicopters. It doesn't surprise me that they've not bothered to make it playable as that's not Gaijins' aim, it's always been to create enough of a painful grind that the players give up and either buy into it or just leave. To Gaijin it's not something that they can fix, as it's company policy and pretty much has been that way since I started playing WT back in 2013 - they've just become greedier along the way. In my opinion the coffin appeared about the same time as the M1 Abrams, since they'd not bothered to update aircraft to the same "tech level" and at that point Naval only had DD's (I could be mistaken and it might've been PT's), even now Aircraft (not including Heli's) are still 30-40 years behind ground forces and Naval is at a guess even further behind. Balance is just as bad as it's always been and if I'm honest it's not even worth commenting on as there's nothing anyone can do about it. Have fun playing other games Flipped_StuG, there's plenty of great games out there and 99.9% of them aren't being made by Gaijin or Wargaming! )))
usually i would do the funny haha but well, of course i cant really in this case, war thunder has driven away the best war thunder naval youtuber out there, someone who wanted the game to truly become popular and be great, not just a little side mode that tankers or plane players make fun of, but instead, gaijin have ruined what would of been a amazing game, worst part is, i dont even think it was malicious in nature, i think it was full thrown incompetence on there part.
Am I the only one here who doesn't think the new naval aiming system is a PoS? Like yeah, having to constantly re-range to a target is annoying, especially in a slow-reloading ship, but it doesn't bother me as much as some people here proclaim.

@@williampuckette5425 i dont see how an hs 123 vs an spitfire with 8 machinegus and twice the speed is balanced (1.3 vs 2.3), thats why i say 0.5 instead of 1.0. It happens across all the BRs, just compare vehicles with a 1.0 gap and you will se that the difference is abismal
Yep, agreed. But, Gaijin gives out "free" things so rarely that people won't criticize it just because they got some DDs. It's like the free parts/FPE fiasco where they reduced the prices a little and suddenly the entire community went silent.
From what i seen people GE their top tier ships the most of them barely have 2-3 battles overall in naval and they go around with their battleships in custom lobbies.
I was hoping to move out of the USA and to the Netherlands. The lack of proper healthcare here, and the ability to live without having to buy a car there are my main reasons. Though, the chances of me actually moving are pretty unlikely, so I'll just have to make the best of things here.

BR decompression isn't enough to fix the terrible economy, aiming system, and damage models. It's too little too late. This isn't even that much compression, we could have had 6.7 by the time Mogami or Spee was added.

G'day FlippedStuG, It's unfortunate that you must quit but there are many that have quit the mode out of strife with Gaijin's bullock's an even I am playing little by little these days compared to how much I played pre 2.01 (okay maybe it's the fact I almost had the Peacock researched on the day 2.01 dropped an the next day they added 190k rp to it & has a higher repair then a corvette with an AK-630 on it's stern (Are you beeeeeep kidding me)). Still I'll miss your content most compared to others & I I'd would of tried to become a NF RUclipsr buuuuut the Bad Network connection error has been flashing 24/7 since February 2020 as such my content would be shit (seriously why isn't there an off switch for it?????, everything plays out perfectly yet that message beep/blink beep/blink beep/blink). Technically there's one dutch vessel in game K-2, K class Sloop captured on her slipway in 1940, But ohh how I dream of their TT's being added but no apparently to be a WT TT it must have tonks an or "many national aircraft designs"... Well I'll miss ya an hope one day you'll come back, or I'll join you in leaving out of anger throwing binoculars at gaijin staff like an Admiral.

Its a bummer to hear man, you are one of the few Warthunder content creators whos opinion I respect still. But I completely understand your reasoning, I think you mentioned in a previous video how naval is radically changed every patch and its again happened. I sometimes feel like Gaijin knows there is a problem with naval but has no idea how to fix it or listen to player feedback. So instead they throw out random and radical changes in the hopes something will stick and make it good.

Uninstalled WT some months ago, after watching WT videos every month to get a understanding how WT is going there is no suprise that you now also quit WT, there are so many CCs and long term players wich have enaugh.
Sad that your quitting, But do what's best for you and we all support you.

they changed the BR... brooklyn is 6.0 porter is 5.0 battleships are 6.3+-6.7.. haven't done too many matches but... liking it with out a batleship. turned off the aim system and went back to kentucky windage because its faster onUS boats. new update doesnt seem like a new damage model...but some odd mega hits have happened... 2x1000lbs have randomly sunk a wyoming in test... only did it once so not sure but attack from back to front. also this change seems recent3-4 days?? as i dint notice it the last few weeks. maybe i didnt notice
Totally understandable decision, when looking at the horrible state of high BR Naval battles. Not only are the BB's ruining cruiser gameplay, but the BB's among each other aren't balanced at. The Hyuga and the Russian ones are just one-shotting the others, while the others still suffer from the grotesque repair costs. At BR 4.3 or 4.7 I still enjoy Naval RB, though.
And I fear your right when it comes to Gaijin's announcement to raise the BR range for Naval. Since we haven't heard anything since then, it will be most likely connected to the next major patch - which will bring the BR raise along with even more overpowered BB's. Maybe at least some of the current BB's are taken to 6.3 then and all BB's will be sucked into the new top BR matches. This might extend the playable BR range to 5.0 or even 5.3 then.

Even as an arcade player the new aiming is atrocious and is especially games with the fucking lead on enemy ships with a bright green circle, looks horrible

Honestly I feel the same. Update Direct Shit only made naval worse, the Fire director system gives completely inaccurate lead indicators unless their sailing parallel to you and it’s honestly just another thing to break when you don’t have tool set to repair them. Don’t even get me started on the repair costs. I’m sick of having to spend 20k SL because I got clubbed by a dreadnought in my Cleveland.
It will be better for you and everyone else in the long run. You may have withdrawal syndrome for 2-3 days till you fill the gap but after 1-2 months you'll feel so liberated by not going to "the second job". It's better to go grind something else that doesn't bring that turmoil to your wellbeing.
I've already had the game uninstalled for around 3 months, the withdrawal syndrome hit the hardest when I let a 4-year daily login expire. But, after that, nothing was drawing me back.

I wanted so badly to love this mode, but every match makes me want to literally cry. I can't pay or play enough to grind past 5.0 ships, and 9 out of 10 games feels like I'm outmatched. I don't feel like I'm a crappy player, I can consistently land shots, I can dodge shots, I can flank. Damage is calculated so weirdly. I can land 10 salvos on a destroyer in a Krasny, be lucky to start a fire, only to sunk in one. But it means so little, and it rewards so little. Even if I have a good game and the team loses, I may as well have not played. I'm trying to stay an active player to keep it alive and not be left behind, but it's not fun for me, and the new aiming system made things way worse for me.

I also had an discussion mid match with someone who complained about a Single Heavy Cruiser and how hard it is to kill and i said im basicly the same ship with smaller canons but then they went on explaining that heavy cruiser have more armor which is not true at least for the japanese and at least for the one the opponent played because i know it was basicly the same ship as mine xD
the problem with naval is that they cant really reasonably make their BRs make sense. like, if we get the tirpitz or at 8.7 or smn, that thing would be facing cold war aircraft.

it's sad that gaijin always messing up with naval gameplay, first the damage model (that german premium minesweeper is very hard to damage after damage model update), then the aiming system, and i already have a bad feeling about the new mechanics

Yeah. I have playing War Thunder since April 2014 and there are still some problems. Naval I think needs to have a complete over hall in BR. Personally I would lock the Air BR at like 6.3, and do something like World of Warships where you have Tier 1 Battleships, and then you have areas where Destroyers can battle, and Battleships can fight each other without the DDs having to fight BBs. Cause I think it is completely unfair that my Brooklyn has to fight a Battleship with no way to kill it

I do naval WT video on my YTB channel for french people, and every time i try to do video with original ship my game are doommed by BB, USS Moffett or kamikaze, and play naval is not fun, just pain.

When I stopped playing (back in January, when they turned on RB mixed battles) Naval was probably one of the worst game modes in WT; the worst being Helicopters. It doesn't surprise me that they've not bothered to make it playable as that's not Gaijins' aim, it's always been to create enough of a painful grind that the players give up and either buy into it or just leave. To Gaijin it's not something that they can fix, as it's company policy and pretty much has been that way since I started playing WT back in 2013 - they've just become greedier along the way.
In my opinion the coffin appeared about the same time as the M1 Abrams, since they'd not bothered to update aircraft to the same "tech level" and at that point Naval only had DD's (I could be mistaken and it might've been PT's), even now Aircraft (not including Heli's) are still 30-40 years behind ground forces and Naval is at a guess even further behind. Balance is just as bad as it's always been and if I'm honest it's not even worth commenting on as there's nothing anyone can do about it.

usually i would do the funny haha but well, of course i cant really in this case, war thunder has driven away the best war thunder naval youtuber out there, someone who wanted the game to truly become popular and be great, not just a little side mode that tankers or plane players make fun of, but instead, gaijin have ruined what would of been a amazing game, worst part is, i dont even think it was malicious in nature, i think it was full thrown incompetence on there part.
Am I the only one here who doesn't think the new naval aiming system is a PoS? Like yeah, having to constantly re-range to a target is annoying, especially in a slow-reloading ship, but it doesn't bother me as much as some people here proclaim.

The compression of the BR is just an ilusion created by a bad matchmaking system that should be +/- 0.5 BR instead of +/- 1.0 BR
I think it depends on the br of the vehicles you have. At lower tiers I think 1.0 is fine
@@williampuckette5425 i dont see how an hs 123 vs an spitfire with 8 machinegus and twice the speed is balanced (1.3 vs 2.3), thats why i say 0.5 instead of 1.0.
It happens across all the BRs, just compare vehicles with a 1.0 gap and you will se that the difference is abismal

Yep, agreed. But, Gaijin gives out "free" things so rarely that people won't criticize it just because they got some DDs. It's like the free parts/FPE fiasco where they reduced the prices a little and suddenly the entire community went silent.
I take 6-12 month breaks from War Thunder all the time.

From what i seen people GE their top tier ships the most of them barely have 2-3 battles overall in naval and they go around with their battleships in custom lobbies.

I was hoping to move out of the USA and to the Netherlands. The lack of proper healthcare here, and the ability to live without having to buy a car there are my main reasons. Though, the chances of me actually moving are pretty unlikely, so I'll just have to make the best of things here.

BR decompression isn't enough to fix the terrible economy, aiming system, and damage models. It's too little too late. This isn't even that much compression, we could have had 6.7 by the time Mogami or Spee was added.

It's unfortunate that you must quit but there are many that have quit the mode out of strife with Gaijin's bullock's an even I am playing little by little these days compared to how much I played pre 2.01 (okay maybe it's the fact I almost had the Peacock researched on the day 2.01 dropped an the next day they added 190k rp to it & has a higher repair then a corvette with an AK-630 on it's stern (Are you beeeeeep kidding me)).
Still I'll miss your content most compared to others & I I'd would of tried to become a NF RUclipsr buuuuut the Bad Network connection error has been flashing 24/7 since February 2020 as such my content would be shit (seriously why isn't there an off switch for it?????, everything plays out perfectly yet that message beep/blink beep/blink beep/blink).
