I was just browsing because I myself am a singer and I stumbled across you guys. You guys gave me chills. I'll be sure to consistently stay tuned. Very awesome, keep it up.
I love how at the end the voices clamber over each other, as if trying to be heard. Much like flames. I admit it took nearly half the song for me to get into this version of it, the fact that it was all female voices doing the woah's kinda sounded wrong. The lower male tones would have rounded it out better. Just like a few lower female voices on some of the chorus's could have given a bit more oomph. But over all I really loved it.
When the women go "woah-o-o-o" in between the lines they sound bad. Maybe woah is just an unflattering sound, but they also sound a bit forced like their parts should have been higher.
The woah was distracting for me. Should have just stomp clapped or had your deep voices say "boom" for the bass drum. The chords you guys strike in the chorus are magical. And when you break down into essentially a church choir the "whoa" makes more sense.
Came across this as I am researching spaced pair location recordings, as I will be conducting one myself soon for a four piece acapella group. I'll not have access to STC-1's but Neumenn km183's am hoping they can compare!
+Andrew Scorgie Just seen your message Andrew - have you done your recordings yet? Let us know if you want to try an STC-1S pair. Charlie's technique of adding a single STC-1 with an Omni capsule at the back of the church is a great idea too!
+Sontronics oh lol not a worry! I did the church recording a week later, ended up with a spaced pair plus an xy center (was my very first location recording as part of my course!). Would love to try the mics! I do have one more to do with a 70 member choir but this is happening tomorrow evening!
+Andrew Scorgie Ooh, that's cutting it fine. Where are you and what college/uni are you studying at? We could see what we could do! Email me (I'm Lisa - contacts page on our Sontronics website)
I was really excited when I first stumbled upon this but even with just three years of middle school choir (oh wooow how impressive, I must be an expert!) there are so many little things that stick out to me that are just...bad
Yes, would have been absolutely great without so much of the “woah’s” and also, the solo guy at the end just ruined it (“my peace has always depended on all the ashes in my wake”).
I know this is 2 years late, but it helps with keeping time and making sure everyone stays together. If they tried to do the original rhythm, you'd have everyone doing THEIR interpretation of how it should be timed, etc. You can see even in this, with the straightened rhythm, you get people taking their own time and singing when they think they should.
Chills. With over ear headphones. CHILLS.
+5
Chills as soon as this started. Breathtaking.

This is amazing!!!! Gave me serious chills. Clear/sharp voices and the stomping feet make the song so so strong. Great job!

2:20 = Goosebumps !
Oh... my... gosh... that is amazing. I hope the producers of The Walking Dead find this and use it at the end of an episode. Great work 10/10 :)
+Ecripter1 you predicted it :)
+Neervanah ik :D so amazing
Awesome!
I'd think it would sound better if they replaced "Woah-o-o-o" with something else.
My only qualm is the fact they aren't quite together at times on the part in question.
Me Too
Perfeitooooooooo!

should've cut the "woah". Without it, you can make it sound more... haunting.
I politely disagree
I found it annoying too

Hozier actually sampled the murmur at the beginning of his song from a movie soundtrack, but I can't remember which. Does anyone know?

The abundance of "Woah-o-o-o" is really annoying
Woah o o o
What was that
It was strait shit in my ear
Don't you ever tame your demon's! !
I was really excited when I first stumbled upon this but even with just three years of middle school choir (oh wooow how impressive, I must be an expert!) there are so many little things that stick out to me that are just...bad
I couldn't make out a single word that was being sung; maybe they need to put the lyrics on screen.
damn this is creepy but good

What's the deal with choral arrangements over-annunciating pop music and making all the rhythms eighth notes even if they weren't to begin with?

bye
The Walking Dead He'll Yeah Forever
need a russian male choir for this. real bass is missing very much
the "woah" is so annoying
Boooooooooooo
it had its moments but headphones exposes a lot of sins though, offbeat claps, not starting the woah at the same time, and pitch problems
there voices are good the whoaing mad it sound like 100 bad sections and there not all at once lots of the time the same line repeats twice :l
This is basically the only good cover of the song on yt
Tooo much
no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
High pitch wo o o wo ruined it :(
walking dead
Amazing
