I use the large orange pegs in sand and snow. I agree the delta pegs are bulky. Mine came in a delta bag. I’ve found this video because I’m looking at TITAN ground anchors purely because they stack well for travel storage.
The Deltas designed for frame tents, marquees and the like so are somewhat over-engineered for small shelters. You can save some weight by drilling them out to a sensible degree. They don't cost much, so it's not expensive to experiment. Their holding power is unmatched. Just a couple on the key structural guys can be a game-changer on soft ground.
The y pegs you like have a little notch to hold the guyline. What is to stop the guyline slipping off the peg if gets loose such as the leeside during a gust or wet guylines? With regard to hard ground pegs, had some hilleberg ones which I would hammer in with a rubber mallet. Eventually the heads came off a few of them
Martin I am sitting here laughing because one rainy Sunday I set out to photograph eagles with my my new lightweight foldup blind. It was cheap and light and had one of those spring in tension frames. I popped it open and realized the wind was pretty strong so I opened the pack of 4 pegs(also cheap lol) and pegged it. I set up my tripod and chair and mounted the camera. I swear I could hear the eagles laughing when a gust of wind blew the blind right off me pulling the pegs right out of the ground. I had the choice to save the camera and tripod or the blind and you know how that went 🤣
Brilliant mate just the video was after I lost a hilleberg V peg and was looking to replace them but realised the ability pegs are expensive and not that great thanks again
Ah this was exactly what I needed! Really great explanation of pegs (can’t believe either that my life has turned into Googling pegs 🤣 That’s lockdown for you). I’m looking to get different pegs as I still have the basic ones that came with my tent so you’ve helped me a LOT. Thank you 😊👍
Very useful video for me thank you, I didn't know that about the V-shaped ones and to carry a mix of nail and star-shaped I call them... I knew about deltas and glad they are of use too... Nice one!!
Surely there's nothing sad about talking about pegs, after all it could be a life saver. Joking aside that was great video and really helpful. Peace Andy H
1.50 am Saturday morning.....RUclips, peg video anyone? Me.....sure, why not😁
Hahaha bless you

Hahaha yes I think I can still hear the eagles laughing at you 🤣
Never thought I'd enjoy a guide to tent pegs, but I did - thanks Martin
Hahaha well glad some
People enjoyed it anyway!

Martin have you seen the nee Titan Anchor peg aluminium 3/4 of an ounce similar to the delta peg ... but with more teeth? Ideal for wet boggy ground
i have, i might get some to try out!

Thanks buddy, hope you are well!
Good video. I have the delta ground anchors and when the wind picks up it’s the only peg for me. I’ve found I can stack them in 4 sets of 4.
Got 8 of them , they take up alot of space.
The 16 year old version of me is rolling his eyes about gas canisters 😂 👍🏻
Hahaha yes indeed 😆
Meths stove windshields. Man, I just can't get enough of them. What would my 16 year old me have said?
