"Get Back" is my favorite Beatles song and John Lennon's solo is my #1 favorite guitar solo. You don't often hear John play lead and I love the simplicity and energy he puts into it. He also sounds like he's a lot of having fun playing this song. Great lesson. I've always wanted to learn how he played it and how to play it. Thank you for this.
The detail you put into this lesson is remarkable! Favourite Beatles song? Really? I remember laughing my head off when somebody asked me that question 50+ years ago. But, just for you, I'll pick one. I absolutely love Abbey Road's side-two medley - from 'Sun King' to 'The End' (with or without 'Her Majesty'). I've always listened to the entire medley, rather than picking out any one snippet of it. But, as said, just for you I will pick 'The End' as my all-time favourite piece of Beatles music. That's because this the one and only Beatles song (as far as I know) where Harrison, Lennon, and McCartney all play lead guitar lines. It's just so unique for that reason. And each of the three of them does a really good job of it. By the way, "Her Majesty's 'a pretty nice girl", and so too are you, Ayla. Thanks for all you do!
Here is something that people always suspected, but the Documentary shows it very briefly. And that is, John is playing on a rare occasions a six string Fender Bass. And it is suspected he is also playing Bass with that Gender on George Harrison's song While My Guitar Gently Weeps. But what I found interesting after all these years is this. The time the Documentary is being filmed, roughly six weeks, The Beatles write two complete albums. Simply amazing.
I love this girl I saw her for the first time on tiktok like a year ago replaying a Dan electro or something now she’s making visits for Guitareo what a career jump!
Unless anyone was under a rock they all should know who you are. I watched you mature from a young kid guitar player to now a professional guitarist sharing your knowledge of guitar with us. Nice to see how you appreciate the Beatles. I got my first guitar after seeing the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. I never got to your level of skill. I think that's what intrigued me about seeing your videos when they show up in my related videos. The amount of skill you showed at the guitar at such a young age. Well this one you did on the rooftop session is great. If my memory serves correctly I believe this was their last time playing together....a farewell of sorts. Growing up with the Beatles was.....Amazing! Just like your guitar playing! Thank you!
Always loved the Beatles.. my mother was almost a hippie so as I was growing up the Beatles was always a staple song inside out home. To the point that I picked up the guitar and started to teach myself to play and I learned to play Beatle songs. Very detailed way of explaining the chords and progression of the song.
Get Back is in A mixolydian, which is the fifth of D scale. John plays in A major pentatonic and D major pentatonic based on the chord playing. He finished in A minor pentatonic.
I am a John Lennon FANATIC! I actually was watching you to see if you "messed up" his style and was so pleasantly surprised at your talent and ability to actually sound like my hero! Good on you!!! 💜💜💜 Love you Lennon 4ever! 💜✝️💜
Yes, I associated John Lenon with rhythm guitar playing, and it is nice to see him play the lead guitar in "Get Back." He was a talented musician, i.e., guitar solo and rhythm player, songwriter, and piano player.
Ok, congratulations, you have fully taken the feel of this song and the beautiful guitar solo, not only, but also the way to play it. Not for everyone, John & co. thank you!
I almost forgot. tho R&R and Blues is my thing, 'Penny Lane' is lb. for lb. my favorite BEATLES song .then it's right back to 'Everybody's got something to hide 'cept for me and my monkey'.
This is the best of the Get Back Lennon lessons out there. You really got the whole sound, just right to my ear. Those bends in the last solo part seem to go up to the major third, where in the original it sounds somewhere between the major and minor, a bit more bluesy. Great job!
What a great song!! Your passion and love of the Beatles especially John Lennon really comes through. What they did in such a short time was unprecedented before and since!
This was a great breakdown lesson. You are the best! I have watched the documentary, the best thing about it for me was seeing their creative process, them jamming to cover songs and "the finale" the rooftop concert which is my favorite concert of all time. Speaking of rooftop concerts, yesterday I watched a documentary "Fly Jefferson Airplane" and was surprised the band also did a rooftop concert. A year before the Beatles! Lasted only 7 minutes though before police showed up. :)
You are absolutely right. I can’t pick one favorite Beatles song. But I could gladly give you five, in no favorite order. A day in the life, Come together, Dear Prudence, I want you (she’s so heavy), The long one (Abbey road potpourri). Great tutorial. Thanks.
There was a version of the rooftop recording of Get Back on RUclips a while back - (I think it may have been deleted) - and the reason John is tapping the strings on his guitar is that the standby switch of his amp - (a Fender Twin Reverb) wasn't on, so he was getting no sound. George leans over and flicks the switch on the back of John's amp and then John starts playing the chords. Great lesson!
On the roof when it happened Mal Evans switched off both George and Johns amp because of the whining police threats. But he did the intro the same throughout the film. I happen tp have the Rock Band isolated tracks of the roof concert and the guitars were very much out of tune from the cold weather. That is if you listen to them separate but together its not an issue.
@@Quetzalcoatl83 In the documentary there are several times where John is using the percussive thumping, as they are playing around / writing. I think it was a stylistic choice.
