To be fair. I always kainda imagined that when he has no wand in hand, he jusst slips a dragon out of his sleeve and uses it as a close quater flamethrower.
He suffered when he got word that one brother was attacked by a werewolf, one had his ear severed off, another was murdered, one thought he was above his own family so much that he cut ties with them, something was always happening to Ron (a number of times he almost died), Ginny was possessed (plus, had Harry and Ron not intervened would’ve died in the chamber of secrets), an attempt on his dads life was made… This is just a warm up. Something was always going on with his family where they weren’t safe. I’m pretty sure he was always in a state of panic with fear with the constant thought of “is my family ok?” Poor dude probably had white hair and aged quite a bit due to constant severe stress over his family’s well being before the age of 25. He suffered in ways that was unmentioned.
Sometimes when bad things happen to you it is often worse for your very close family members, I suffer from chronic pain disorders and I hide most of my physical pain because it hurts the people I love far more than it hurts me

The Weaslys are shown early on to keep in good contact with everyone, so Charlie ends up constantly hearing bad news (or almost worse, having his family hold back) for years while his siblings are repeatedly maimed, his baby brother goes missing, a different brother dies, and another brother disowns them all. All the while he can do nothing because he's out of the country preventing the dragon apocalypse the whole time.

Because he was the only one who was smart enough to look at that whole situation and go "I may choose to work with dragons, but even I'm not crazy or stupid enough to get involved with any of *that."*

He was one of the oldest and seeing his little siblings suffer so much is definitely painful. Also he works with dragons 🐉 I don’t think dementors or death eaters would have such a huge impact on him-

Charlie was an absolute unit in the books. Man's was a curse breaker for Gringgots, a Dragon Tamer, and the person who brought the reinforcements that turned the tide at the Battle of Hogwarts. Sadly Rowling had to nerf the Order of the Phoenix by making him abroad most of the time.

Charlie didn’t have life lasting relationship, or even a girlfriend that’s important enough to be showed!
