I've always thought that this was the quintessential Bond film; if I wanted to introduce someone to the series, I'd start with this one. If I ever opened a Drive-In theatre, this is the first film I'd show.
That shot of all the B-52s on their way to nuke Russia always got to me. I love how they went to the trouble of casting William Sylvester (one of the few American actors in England at the time) only to just stick him in the background at the Pentagon with no lines. He got to preside over a somewhat more successful mission to space the following year in 2001.
great fight scene, highly simplistic exploder-button ending. Reminds me of the Easy button from Staples commercials. And where is the camera filming all of this? lol
And the instantaneous explosion after the pushing of the button, too- like it doesn't take any time at all for a signal to travel. And I always wondered if there was an omitted scene in which someone noted that Bird One was painted to look like it was launched from Russia; it's never even mentioned in the film, so why did they bother?
You can feel the disappointment as they discuss along after Bird 1's self-desctructed... 😂 Like "god, we may have died but at least all this Soviet-American stuff above our shoulders would been finally over by now..."
+lewisner yes lol one the most stupid mistakes in the film. Still, awesome scene and awesome music. 1:26 gives one a thrilling idea what it really would have been like if WW3 between the USA and the Soviet Union had broken out.
The plot is good and used twice (''The Spy Who Loved Me''), but doesn't pay attention to the details. In previous scene Blofeld must say that he's got a spy satellite (as vee eks say in his comment here). They also had to refers that they have repaired the damage on the radar, which happened in the last rocket launch. This would justify why they didn't saw Bond and Kissy in the crater, and they saw Tanaka's men.
Blows up capture vehicle less than 100 feet behind the US spacecraft, which is then shredded by shrapnel. As far as anyone can tell, the USSR just launched an attack on an American spacecraft. World War III starts immediately.
Crazy to think, the footage of the planes getting airborne for WWIII features a B-52 from over 50 years ago. Here in 2019 if God forbid, WWIII really did kick off, the B-52 will likely start it or play a crucial role in the start of it today. And, that same plane in the footage, although upgraded over the years may still be flying missions and may be the plane that could start such a war.
What's crazy is how easy it is to con the masses, the mass herds of sheep, or as the Freemasons call us, "The Profane". The Elite control the world through world freemasonry, all international tensions are fake, at the top of the pyramid of power all nations are controlled by the same criminal network. Even the ideology of the supposed enemy of the time, communism, was conjured by the Elite, disseminated and portrayed as being authored by Karl Marx, a Masonic frontman who showed his true allegiance and identify to his "Brothers" in his hidden hand photo. Even communist China is theirs. First mighty China was weakened by the Masonic Triad (all organised crime networks are Masonic), when they distributed Opium for the Masonic Sassoon family and the Masonic British Empire, later the Triad families took over through communism, such as Yale in China Mao, the criminal portraying itself as the saviour of the people as usual. They created the East vs West "Threat" in their controlled media, the occult Yin vs Yang, blue vs red being the colours of Yin and Yang, like all their staged conflicts, terrifying the sheep. The purpose ultimately will be to portray life as impossible without their sick planned New World Order. From movies to video games the misanthropic message is the same, after all propaganda has to be consistent to work, that "MAN" is warlike and will destroy himself when in reality the puppet master controls both sides of all staged conflicts, a problem for their final "solution"
Well he did that in No Time To Die. Payed dearly for it too. Don’t make up nonsensical reasons to dislike him, he’s probably my least favourite Bond, but I don’t use reasoning like that.
This will be the very score that I'll listen when if ever the Doomsday will come thanks to Mr. Putin and NATO. Anyway, great detail attenction for the U.S.A. Gemini capsule during these days, just before the Saturn V in full scale had to be launched for the very first Apollo manned orbital flight around the Moon.
The plot is good and used twice (''The Spy Who Loved Me''), but they didn't pay attention to details. Bond say ''bon appétit'' (1.00) but doesn't know that the pool has piranha. On the scene before that when Blofeld killed Osato, he must say to Βοnd... I would throw you in the piranha pool, but I need you to escape...The reference to the piranha pool would justify Βοnd's ''bon appétit'', and why Blofeld doesn't kill him.
007 Brought to original and remake 2005 by the same writer who tossed Augustus Gloop into a river of chocolate with those monstrous Piranha fish. 🐟 0:52-0:57
Most certainly he was talking to the chiefs of the branches of the US military. As it can be seen, the Air Force was mobilized for a possible attack against the Soviet Union.
And after Hans gets eaten then Odd Job appears we only thought he died in Goldfinger now Bond has to fight him all over again and kill him for sure this time before he averts Armageddon.
B-52 bombers and B-47 bombers massing in such numbers as to darken the skies. Heavy duty massive thermonuclear payloads in the megatons range about to be transported to and released on the Soviet Union, truly wiping that nation off the map with all the redundant overkill thermonuclear weapons capacity back then. Look at all those bombers. Poor Moscow (besides hundreds and hundreds of other Soviet targets). Even today, Moscow still must be the most heavily targeted city in the world for thermonuclear attack. Targeted heavily by USA, Great Britain, France, Israel, and yes, even China, still. After secretly accurately ranging and targeting all major American cities for nuclear destruction, North Korea may eventually target Moscow too (as well as Beijing) for additional nuclear blackmail options when they feel confident enough to demand that the world remove all sanctions and provide for their every needs, to avoid destruction.
There won`t be a nuclear war. At least not on the current global economic configuration. All zones depend one to another. Obviously the world has changed since WW2. More likely a nuclear war would start from a Terminator-based scenery.
Bond literally saved the world from Nuclear Armageddon in this one. In the 60s Cold War was real the best save from a 007 ever.
I've always thought that this was the quintessential Bond film; if I wanted to introduce someone to the series, I'd start with this one. If I ever opened a Drive-In theatre, this is the first film I'd show.
My favorite 007 fight, actor and movie = You Only Live Twice is my favorite 007 movie
"Code is imminent". I use that line all the time in work. I have a stupid job.
The code word could actually be the word "imminent" or he's saying the code word will be transmitted in less than a minute.
Love John Barry’s unbeatable soundtrack, adds an epic sound to the final fight and Bond’s destruction of the spacecraft.
Great scene ending for a brilliant film-Sean Connery is James Bond!
That shot of all the B-52s on their way to nuke Russia always got to me.

The B-52s flying to Russia is chilling. Reminds me of a movie called Failsafe, by Sidney Lumet. Very disturbing.
SAC clip of B-52s during '62 Cuban Missile Crisis - keeping around 70-90 airborne 24/7 was a maximum effort and very very expensive.

The radar guy at 1:17 is the sub captain in "The Spy Who Loved Me".
Plot similarities too. Swallowing up spaceships, swallowing up nuclear submarines. Starting WWIII.
And same director: Lewis Gilbert.
Shane Rimmer.
@@nazur72 The same basic plot is repeated in Tomorrow Never Dies, too. And the plot of Goldfinger is repeated in "A View To a Kill."

Paul Riet Yeah my dad took me to see this as a kid and it blew my mind. The music in this scene is great too, simple but memorable.
It's not really a mistake. They left "holes" in these films on purpose.
Details, details, it's a Bond flick.

Classic James Bond and Shane Rimmer scenes.

@@TheKenPrescott Audiences didn't care and still don't care it's called Dramatic Tension and it works.
well, it wouldn't make an explosion sound either, and the Americans wouldn't see it "blow up," it would just vanish off the screen
