the darker more serious tone of Dalton was a fresh take after the light humored run of Roger Moore. i think we all would have liked to see one or two more turs from him.

@Trey Stephens Dalton’s third was already in pre-production and the script was ready in 1990, and Scotland, Tokyo, and Hong Kong were the locations, but thanks to a convicted fraudster named Giancarlo Paretti trying to sell the broadcasting rights to the Bond series at a cut rate price, the lawsuit between MGM and Danjaq happened, and it got scrapped.

Played by ex-US Air Force Anthony Zerbe: one of those actors who viewers 'point out' in many features, yet they're unable to name him - The Dead Zone (opposite fellow 007 villain, Christopher Walken), Rooster Cogburn (John Wayne is lead actor), True Crime (Clint Eastwood acted and directed) Papillion (Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman are co stars) ironically Rami Malek was in a remake of the latter movie - forming a connection with Licence To Kill and No Time To Die with two major characters in their respective movies.

The thing is - had Bond movies stuck to the novels in terms of Bond's attitude and what he really was - a womanizing assassin - then they would have been all dark movies and not PG ratings as in the UK. This should have been released in many ways after OHMSS and taking revenge for the killing of his wife. What we got was the pathetic Diamonds Are Forever. Big salary check for Sean Connery in what was his worst film as Bond.
