I lived in sherman for all my life and have seen this mall in many states. I have really only shopped at Burlington the last few years, so I haven't seen the inside since a Halloween trick or treat thing in 2018. I went with a friend group(reluctantly)to help keep track of the children in the group in the crowd. Its probably the most packed this place had been in a decade and other Halloweens.
I have lots of memories of this mall from the mid 90s on. Haven't seen it in a healthy state since 2008 or so. It would get a little better than getting a lot worse till it is where it is now.

I much preferred the mall than the town center. I hate going to the town center.

Last saw it healthy in 2008, or before 2008?
It starting getting bad in 2008, or after 2008?

I miss this mall I've done allot of shopping here. I remember when every store was full the movie theater was at full swing and lots of restaurants filled the food court. Children would run and play and seniors would do their daily walking inside there mall they was called " The Mall Walkers". At Christmas time it was so beautiful . I do hope that there new owners will fix it back up and open the mall and revive every store I miss Midway Mall

It is awesome to see your take on this mall. This is probably the best dead mall to visit in Texas right now. Me and Retail Mix USA visited this mall this past spring. Bath and Body Works was closed along with the Dillards mall entrance. The 2 barricades were no longer in place so you could freely walk the mall without worries. I took well over 200 photos of the mall for my blog and tried out the mall candy too, lol. The mall was recently sold in an auction so we will find out what plans are in store for the building. As you can see in parts of the video, the carpet was pulled up as the beginning of a renovation that never happened. Awesome video, glad you noticed the old Foot Locker and Waldenbooks stores.

I live in North Texas and am in Sherman all the time, and this mall being dead is nothing new but it's continued operation is a baffler. I remember going there in like 2005 or 2006 after a sizeable win at Choctaw to blow some money and being amazed at how empty it was. Burlington Coat Factory and I think a jewelry repair shop. Went back again in 2013 and it was the same. Just keeping the lights on has to cost more than they are taking in from rent, plus they've got property taxes, insurance, etc. It's not just dead, it's LONG dead. That Sherman Town Center at 75 & 82 has all the shopping anyone could ever need to do, why Midway Mall hasn't been demolished and redeveloped (possibly into a toxic waste dump or chemical / nuclear weapons test grounds) is beyond me.

In my opinion, if this mall closes, it should be demolished for at least an indoor skatepark, at least a few retail stores, at least a few restaurants, and a Car Wash with a site layout very similar to the Brightworks Car Wash in Fort Worth, Texas but a lot bigger with on-site auto repair centers, on-site gas stations, convenience stores, and at least ten more indoor hand wash bays for many different types of cars, trucks, buses, boats, and RVs.

I spent so much time here growing up. We live in NC but we would spend summers in Texas with my grandparents. On hot summer days this was the place to be. Catch a movie then eat at the food court. It was full of life and crowded. I remember they would play dominos in the food court and you could hear them all over the mall. So sad to see it in this shape.

11:39 this used to be CGX, a video game store kind of like GameStop, but had more retro stuff
Also, I could have sworn Victoria’s Secret was still open out there. Like GNC, they’ll probably move to town center
“Come see the many sides of Sears” was a flashback I was not at all prepared for lol
I can smell that Waldenbooks haha. Garfield and Calvin & Hobbes all day
It’s been much longer than I thought since I’d last been in the food court (when there were still places open). I love how the greenery is starting to take over, kind of like a good future Sonic CD level

GNC isn't part of the Town Center. It's located across the highway. Victoria's Secret closed down about 2-3 years ago. With the drop in sales, they've closed down over 50 stores just within the last year. I can't see them trying to open back up in this area. There just isn't enough desire for that type of store to support them here. They had one in one of Allen's strip malls, but due to lack of sales they also closed. They do have an outlet Victoria's Secret still in Allen, though. It's in the outlet mall. Victoria's Secret just isn't the brand it use to be. Kinda like Frederick's of Hollywood. People are realizing they can get equal/similar items elsewhere for lots less.

14:02 The mall failed because the rent was too high, and everything was moving to Town Center.

All of this mall videos made me a little nostalgic for my very own mall that closed when I was like five here in Chicago it was called the brickyard mall. I wish you had been around back then so I could have video of the mall because I vaguely remember it😂

I visited there this past Friday and almost all of the mall was blocked by a divider. From the Burlington to the main square part is pretty much the only thing you can access now. They blocked off all the rest of the mall because they want to lease that part to 75%, renovate it, and then reopen it to the public. As far as I no they have no plans to renovate it until it's 75% leased, so I'm fairly certain the other 3/4ths of the mall is sitting entirely untouched. I don't think they'll ever get enough tenets unfortunately, I don't think there's much hope for this mall.

Such a boring little town, and the only mall they have is DEAD! Way to add insult to injury. Sherman can't have good things. Hellish town.
