In my opinion, if this mall closes, it should be demolished for at least an indoor skatepark, at least a few retail stores, at least a few restaurants, and a Car Wash with a site layout very similar to the Brightworks Car Wash in Fort Worth, Texas but a lot bigger with at least three more indoor hand wash bays for not only cars and trucks but also classic cars, semis, buses, cargo vans, motorcycles, motorhomes, and boats, at least two touchless in-bay wash systems, an on-site oil change center, an on-site auto repair shop, an on-site auto body center, an on-site auto glass center, an on-site convenience store, and an on-site gas station.

Rajas is a good restaurant!

I missed sears

I grew up in Wellington. Didn't go often to this mall, especially since I had such a terrible memory of a lady who worked at a tutoring place there who said I'd never do anything with my life. Well guess what Linda, I'm a Medical Doctor now!

Did stranger things close it down? What happened?

Remembered getting an N64 at this store. That also being my first video game system. Good times

Wow, I’m from Florida and I thought that the only things between Panama City and Pensacola were moccasins, rattlesnakes, and a few people who might fit right into the movie “Deliverance”. The last place I’d expect to find a mall.

Remember buying a mattress here back in early 2018. I used to love coming here and checking out the vacuum cleaners and tools.

Used to go to that mall back in the 70s and early 80s and hang out at the Goldmine arcade which became Tilt. Also like going to the record shops that were there at the time. Musicland and Record Town. That part of the mall that Sears closed down in was the newest part that they built back in the mid 80s.

I’m gonna miss that Sears. I go to that mall all the time.

Been to this Market Basket many times. I live in Orange. I just admire the vintage architecture and the 80’s style neon lights. There’s a Market Basket in Beaumont that has lights similar to it.

I can't believe part of the mall is going to be torn down. I hope they reconsider saving it and not build another apartment there! Please contact that Mall and demand they save it now! I have been there two days ago and it seems to pick up more people than before. Not alot, but it seems to thrive.

We didn't put a "The" in front of the name. It was just "Gwinnett Place Mall." 🤓 I remember when it opened, and I went there often until I left Atlanta in the mid-'90s. It was very modern and well-maintained then. Now (Dec 2023) I'm reading that the space will be repurposed, but I don't know if details have been made public.

As a person who was born in 2005 and still now being obsessed with the 90’s & 00’s this place genuinely looks so interesting to me. Just the whole vibe is something i find so lonely, yet so calming. I wished i lived nearby, heck even in the same country so i could visit this place. Probably by the time i can even decide to go to the US this place will probably already be gone but i hope i can go there one day

I just got visions of store managers having their yearly meeting by region (let's say Midwest/Great Lakes) in the ballroom of the Dearborn Hyatt with this blasting as they walk in to listen to 2 1/2 hours of business jargon and Powerpoint 4.0 presentations. Burgundy colored carpeting, mahogany wall paneling, brass chandeliers and dreadful buffet food oh my!

That was a fun mall not too long ago. I got awesome clothes and some snacks from there! Even got gifts for people there. I loved it.

I remembered buying USA made Craftsman tools from THAT particular Sears in Houston, 16 years ago. Now, its sad to see no more Sears' USA made Craftsman tools and the store going down.

I remember everytime me and my fam would get ice cream we would just sit near the water that went up and down and went on the train that went around the mall I miss it 😢

In the days of analog broadcasting, I was able to pick up KNTV channel 11 in San Jose on my clock radio. I would use it as an alarm, and always about the same time during the morning news broadcast, there would be a Fry's commercial.

My childhood resonated with this mall. I used to go weekly with my parents to buy pokemon cards, games, and we’d always made it a thing to visit the small animal pet store. It’s so sad to see it the way it is today. Hopefully one day new life is breathed into it, and it is repurposed for something else. The area is ever growing, and the opportunity is definitely there.

Wow, so strange to see. I worked at the Gap for a few years in the mid-late 90’s. It was so busy all the time. But at Christmastime it was absolutely nites. Every single storefront was open, people everywhere. I sometime forget that was nearly 30 years ago. Sad.

We were just there (August 2023). My wife and I were driving around Wellington and happened upon this place. We decided to explore it. I think we saw no more that one or two other people inside. It is a very odd place, with all the colorful, even garish, statuary. There are “sayings” placed like banners above the entrance and inside as well that proclaim this place to be dedicated to our children; indeed many of the statues are of children playing. It has to be said that the place is spotlessly clean and seemingly well-maintained. I don’t know how the owners can afford to keep the lights and air conditioning on. We walked past the Raja Indian restaurant and checked out their menu. We went back a week later for dinner. What a nice surprise that was. The Indian cuisine was outstanding, the best we’ve had in Palm Beach County. We’ll be back for that, if not for the mall otherwise.

I was there several times, now that location is a Sprouts farmers market and At Home store.

I think I went to this mall as a kid in the mid to late 80's. I used to tell my parents I wanted to go to the mall with the "purple lights" . We lived in Ft Walton beach so I am assuming this is the mall we used to go to. I remember there were purple neon lights at the top of the columns that formed a ring, I think in the food court. I saw one sign with a purple / pink light at the food court I wonder if purple has been the theme here for a while. I didn't see any neon lights on the columns in the video but that was over 30 + years ago.

I live in the texoma area and I went here a couple months ago and it has gotten much worse Burlington is open that is pretty much it the rest of the mall is sitting and rotting but there planing to renovate it in the future but it’s sad to see it in this condition because this is where I spent a lot of my childhood
