The "most important transaction in the history of the NY Mets" was in 1966, when they won the lottery for the right to sign Tom Seaver. Soto would have to maintain his value for the next 12 years or so to just match Seaver's career WAR. If I was a betting man, I'd bet against that.
Mets not only made a deal with Soto, they took themselves out of the Yankees shadow to become a new/ improved franchise for New York(I’m a dodgers fan)

Even if Mets don't win the series and Soto spends his last 6 contract years on a beach with Bobby Bonilla I still see this signing as a win. Money is a tool. Cohen just re-set NY sports power dynamics. Well why would he want to continue with the Yankees? They showed pretty clearly during the last series that they aren't a team - their a group of massively over paid superstars that tend to be good at one thing: hitting the ball. That's fine and all but if you can't field a ball .. it doesn't get the job done. Hence why they got absolutely destroyed by LA.
Talking about overpaid superstars when it's literally the Dodgers who have a roster that is literally stacked from top to bottom with over $1 billion in deffered money.. yeah the Yankees are just stacked with superstars with Gleyber Torres, Anthony Volpe, Jose Trevino, Austin Wells and Oswaldo Cabrera playing. That team is so terrifying 😱

Bringing up the ghost of Mets past, Jed Lowrie had the most potential but because the Mets refused to pay for a surgery he needed, his production was lousy.
I'm a dodgers fan, and I think I can speak for most dodger fans when I say we did NOT want Soto as a dodger. He's great as a player, but we already have a star-studded roster. That being said, I'm glad and happy for him that he's no longer a yankee. The mets seem like a better fit for him. He's out of a team that could potentially hold him back (I think he realized that himself when he lost this years' WS) but he's still in the state that he loves. Yes he had his best career season on the yankees, but that's because of how good he was AS A PLAYER. Being on the yankees had NOTHING to do with how good he was and Yankees fans can't seem to wrap their heads around that idea. When you're a baseball player, you look for prospects and a team you believe you can thrive in, not just a fat paycheck. I hope he does just as great, if not better than he did this year in 2025. I'm looking forward to his hustle.
Not a fan of either NY team but im extremely happy with this outcome! Yankees have always had the deck stacked in their favor and their fanbase always holds on to that past success like it’s really all that impressive. Here’s to a prolonged drought for them!
METS fans have Bernie Madoff to thank for this revival...If the Wilpons don't "invest" with Bernie, they wouldn't have been forced to sell the Team to Steve Cohen, already a minority owner, 6 months after the epic Madoff Ponzi was made public
As a native New Yorker/Yankees fan primarily, him signing with the Mets isn't all that bad tbh because at the end of the day, it's still NY. It coulda been worse..he coulda signed with Boston lmao 🤷🏾😂 with that being said,I'll be rooting for them next year along with the Yankees 💯
As a lifelong die hard yankee fan who got to see the powerhouse dynasty teams, all I can do is agree that they haven't been what they used to be for over a decade now. Their decline began w/ the A-Rod trade imo because the importance of building a team that understands baseball was forsaken for signing big money draw players. When they got Soto I was happy because I thought he would've been a great piece to build around as Judge declines and I would say losing Soto is a blessing in disguise if there were any indication that the Yankees front office learns from their mistakes because it's now an opportunity to return to how Gene Michael built the 90s and early 00s dynasty teams w/ fundamentals, high situational baseball IQ and strong pitching w/ depth. Congrats to the Mets, but good luck with that contract. Only time will tell if y'all really stuck it to big bro ;) P.S. Judge lost us Soto in the 5th
Got to be honest, I'm a Braves fan so I'm more than a little bit heartbroken that this guy is going to be in our division against us. That's said if we lose to the Phillies in the NLDS again y'all better beat the shit out of them in the NLCS. I hope a healthy Spencer Strider is enough to actually win some games against this team.
Could be a blessing in disguise for the Yanks. Stanton and Soto couldn’t carry us in the postseason forever, no excuse to not add more and more with the money they were willing to spend on Soto.
I’ve been a Mets fan since I was 5 years old, in 1983; you obviously haven’t been a fan as long. If the Mets signed Soto; it means his talent will drastically decline; he will get injured, or he will play well, but the Mets will still find a way to completely f*ck everything up and NOT win (a pennant, the NCLS, the World Series, etc.). That’s what being a Mets fan means. Accepting that you will get 1 World Series win in your lifetime, if you’re lucky. I got ‘86, and it was AWESOME. Now, if they had gotten Ohtani in the last offseason, THEN I MIGHT HAVE agreed that their curse was broken (until Ohtani threw a 2-seamer and shattered the top half of his arm in a spiral fracture, or some other nuclear-level disaster took place). The Mets are like the Jets of baseball.
No he hasn't. I've lived here my entire life and Yankee hate was strong day one but now after that joke of a press conference, it's clear nothing will ever change with the Mets.
I've always liked the Mets better than the Yankees. Steve Cohen has been great. I'd have preferred shohei ohtani over Soto for the money but as far as showing up the Yankees I support that.
Happy for Soto, and will be rooting for him to do well on the Mets. Watching his at bats all of 2024 was a treat and it honestly doesn’t get old. He deserved to choose where he wanted to go That said, the spiteful Yankee fan in me hopes the Mets never win the WS with him under contract lol. That would hurt. I’ve watched the Yankees make countless big signings since the 2000s and they rarely work out, so it’s never a guarantee of success

METS fans have Bernie Madoff to thank for this revival...If the Wilpons don't "invest" with Bernie, they wouldn't have been forced to sell the Team to Steve Cohen, already a minority owner, 6 months after the epic Madoff Ponzi was made public
You're damn right!! 😂
Worst than the wilpons was that J LO almost owned the Mets
@@jorgeconde5956 Especially if she's allegedly wrapped up in the Diddy fiasco
As a native New Yorker/Yankees fan primarily, him signing with the Mets isn't all that bad tbh because at the end of the day, it's still NY. It coulda been worse..he coulda signed with Boston lmao 🤷🏾😂 with that being said,I'll be rooting for them next year along with the Yankees 💯
Didn’t Walker Buehller go to the Red Sox?
Only time will tell if y'all really stuck it to big bro ;)
P.S. Judge lost us Soto in the 5th
Athlete salaries should be capped at $10M. Ridiculous
lol cope
@ cool supreme11272 🤭
Got to be honest, I'm a Braves fan so I'm more than a little bit heartbroken that this guy is going to be in our division against us. That's said if we lose to the Phillies in the NLDS again y'all better beat the shit out of them in the NLCS. I hope a healthy Spencer Strider is enough to actually win some games against this team.
Oh I’m glad he is with us and not on the Nationals in our division this time 😂😂😂
The ending has my soul
dammit juan boutta make NY a civil war lol
Let's see who makes it to late October.
this makes me patriotic to be a mets fan
Kingdom hearts music got my ears ringing
Juan got a dad bod in the offseason
Juan Soto is not going to stay with the Mets for 15 years he's going to opt out he just did it for the money
Best case for the Mets is still losing the NLCS to the Dodgers.
Now we need to get down to business and sign a new ace to keep the ball rolling LFGM!!
He does not deserve 765 million, massive overpay and doesn’t do nearly enough defensively
MLB deserves to continue fading into irrelevancy. Completely broken sport and it should continue being treated as such
No he hasn't. I've lived here my entire life and Yankee hate was strong day one but now after that joke of a press conference, it's clear nothing will ever change with the Mets.
WW3 STARTED💀⚾️
2025 subway WS bank on it
Mets still look like a 3rd place team.
I wish him the best . He should give Mike trout a call and see how that worked out for him
No Lindor no Soto, Lindor is still the man in queens
The excessive amount of salt coming from entitled Yankees fans makes this signing a success. Love it.
what’s with the riddler music😂
Not for 15 years .. Soto has an opt out 2029 which with his loyalty he will utilize
I've always liked the Mets better than the Yankees. Steve Cohen has been great. I'd have preferred shohei ohtani over Soto for the money but as far as showing up the Yankees I support that.
lol XY victory road theme fits well for the intro
Happy for Soto, and will be rooting for him to do well on the Mets. Watching his at bats all of 2024 was a treat and it honestly doesn’t get old. He deserved to choose where he wanted to go
That said, the spiteful Yankee fan in me hopes the Mets never win the WS with him under contract lol. That would hurt. I’ve watched the Yankees make countless big signings since the 2000s and they rarely work out, so it’s never a guarantee of success
This will mean nothing for most of the year. I could see if he went to Boston or Toronto.
Mets 2028 lineup
SS Francisco Lindor
RF Juan Soto
3B Mark Vientos
LF Brandon Nimmo
1B Pete Alonso
CF Luis Angel Acuna
DH Jesse Winker/Someone?
C Francisco Alvarez
2B Ronny Mauricio
KING OF NEW YORK
win something lol
Gertie Cole and Max Fried is going to be a nasty duo so dont cry too hard yankee fans
The Yankees need contact hitting
Is it true the Yankees didnt treat his family well?!?
fist 2 minutes in this video in mlb 9 innings i got Juan Soto 2022 lol
Paying someone 700+ million to hit a ball. Lol. Clown country.
No one cares about you
i am a met fan and if the mets did not get soto i would just move on - i am happy the mets got him - but it is just a game -
😂 wait til he comes back to the Bronx 😂
When
When
LGM 🧡 💙
Is this like the last time the Mets broke away from lol Mets? Or the time before? Or the time before?
The Mets will pay 10-20 million dollars for every WAA.
They must believe it’s worth it.
Cf. Albert Pujols in Anaheim QED
Lol wait till you experience Soto’s fielding…you won’t feel as inspired.
You had to remind me of Jed Lowrie? I don't think he ever got a base hit as a Met.
Roki Sasaki is a Dodger not a Met.
O/U 1.5 pitches before Soto gets thrown at in the Bronx
hey... michael cuddyer was pretty good for us
