- After showing you my one synth only technique, I'd like to go deeper and walk through my full sound design process creating a dark synthwave track for my next album.
I will use Octatrack to sequence the Roland Boutique Sh01a and then some of my favorite effects:
- Fairfield Circuitry Shallow Water
-Strymon DIG
-Death By Audio Rooms
-OTO Boum
Gonna be a very distorted and ominous journey ;)
00:00 - Introduction
05:16 - Bass sound design and first track
11:41 - Adding more tracks
18:14 - Consideration on how I approach sound design and recording

Very informative and inspiring. Love your sound and appreciate the insights
you are getting some fantastic sounds here! thank you for making this very useful video sharing some of your techniques and ways of creating! liked and subscribed. cheers!
Wow…first class sound design bro. Very subtil and deep. All what I like. Him from France.
Very deep and progressive electronic music like this one are never played in club or in techno or electronic parties. This is very sad. It used to be, during afters in private parties in the 90’s but today never.
Glad you like it!
I really love your focus on the creative process. That’s what it’s all about.
Enjoying all of your videos. Thank you!

Great video! Thanks for the insight. Love your stuff:)

Nice appreciate your effort..lovin the content
Thanks for sharing your process. This is so inspiring and helpful to see. I’d love to see the next stage of the process... how you work with the individual tracks you’ve recorded to arrange, mix and edit in the DAW. Keep up the great work!! 🙌
I’d be interested in that too!!!
@@OoraMusic i am interested in this also
That was a really great 26 minutes, instant subscribe. Really enjoyed how you used the octatrack to control the SH01a's voices. Very clever. That oto is very cool indeed. love the sound.
Thanks for the sub!
I am learning so much from your videos! Thank you!
very happy to hear that!
Amazing video! Thank you.
This was worth watching just for your hint to your Spotify channel. Love your work, keep it going!
Awesome, thank you!
Sounds ridiculously good. The DIG really does a lot here.
agreed!
When I look and hear to other SH-01A synthesis demo video on youtube and come back to this one its like beeing blind, and after recovering beeing able to watch the ocean again. Hi from France 🇫🇷
thanks!!!
Very well explained and deep immersive sound!
Glad you liked it!
Really inspiring video!
Awesome video man...stacked some pedals after watching this and got some great sounds. The Boum is a beast and def is one of my favs too. I always used it 100% wet but after mixing it in with the original and using the filter I love the dark sound it can create. That was a great tip. Cheers.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome, awesome stuffs!
thanks!
Ahhhmazing!!!!
Thanks John!
Superb 👌
Amazing sound you have.
thanks!
excellent video!
Amazing
Thanks
awesome 👏🏻
Nice try, Allesandro Cortini, I know it's you!
Thank you for sharing your process. It's always inspiring to see what you get from the ONE synth, when I'm buying a new one to add another track :P
Nice! Your process is very different from mine, but watching people do things differently is a great way to learn. Also -- I just previewed the album on iTunes. Very cool, very chill.
Thanks Elsinore!
Loving this so much. I want your album on vinyl!
Thanks! this came out in cassette, with I can do vinyl, but all the plants are backordered and my label is still waiting for the other album that came out in august..
@@OoraMusic Thank you for your reply! That seems to be a universal issue right now. i ordered a record from Rough Trade and five months after planned the release date, they are still waiting! Someone could make a great living opening another vinyl pressing plant :)
Sick video
Glad you enjoyed
Dude this sounds great..keep on spreading the gospel
Like those cycles nice fx ...
Glad you like them!
Thanks for the appreciation!
I use NI Maschine as my setup brain, but I've been bumping into a few limitations that really get under my skin. You're slowly winning me over with the Octatrack, but I'm also drawn to the Deluge because it's cheaper and has built-in sound engines. You mentioned Deluge used to be your brain. I'm hoping you can break down why you swapped it up one day.
Hey, they're both great! I''m gonna say if you're finding Maschine limiting, then OT is the way to go. The Deluge's portability and quicker sequencing are really nice, but the OT will take you to much more interesting places.
Thanks for this! 👌
This is a tune!!
:)
Great!!
thanks!
dayummmmm
This is my kinda sound 🔊❤️
:)
wow, just awesome! inspired me a lot, glad I subscribed. Do I see correctly that you converted the stereo signal from the SH-01a to mono for the shallow water pedal, and then from the dig to the room its stereo cables again? didn't know this was possible!
Yes, correct. im using a tsr to ts cable from sh to shallow., then i go mono into dig and stereo out to rooms!
🔥
Does the octrack have midi effects? Sounds like at one point you dial in some delay with it?
Can you do similar track controls with a digitakt ?
Wow sei bravissimo
grazie!
have you ever tried a Sherman Filterbank 2? Not sure what to get, that or the Otto Baum. Cool vid.
nope, would love to
BRAVO!!!!!!.....one More Sub for You. ❤
thanks!!
19:45 in is a perfect sound for me, that hypnotic acid sound. Very Richie Hawtin or some Boston 168 sound's. I'm going to buy this exact set up, but I don't have your ability. Do you teach on your patreon? My plan is to invest in my studio and then figure out where to get lesson's.
Hello Dave! yes I do one on ones both with Patreon subscription or just with an hourly fee. Soon I will launch a 3 month coaching course !
@@OoraMusic Excellent, so I'll finish my studio and then join your patreon 🙂
Thank you
Sorry if this is obvious -- when you add the second track, it seems to be also configured to use MIDI channel 1. And so on with track 3. At first I thought this was sure to cause some problem, because the notes would be stepping on each other. But, is it working because the SH-01A has 4-note polyphony? It works as long as you don't try to play more than 4 notes simultaneously? Thanks for this video -- the different length sequences were sounding really great.
yes, having 4 note of polyphony i can use it as 4 separate tracks. It has some limits of course, but that leads to happy accidents
This sounds great. Did you release the track? What's it called?

Facceli anche in italiano 🙏🏻😁
you sold me the octatrack
Proud of that!
Great textures. GAS for pedals is rising...
Sorry!! :)
you certainly don't need the 'Strega' from 'make noise'
but id. definitely like to try it :)
@@OoraMusic yes I would love to see this and hear your thoughts on it :-)
god damn it ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀. this just shows me how terrible i am haha! cant even see it in the slightest
just a matter of practicing and i believe that each one has something to say!
