Just wanted to say thank you for making this video. I was given one for Christmas and used this video as a visual aid and was invaluable. If it helps, I’d have paid money to have a slowed down version. Thank you again.
Thanks for the kind words. Ahh, yes, always tricky with these build videos, if one should do them as instructions or for a fast "build experience". At the time of editing this video series, I already had a "slowed down version" of the Grasshopper II build going on, so in order not to bore the die-hard-Tamiya-fans/subscribers who had build many of these themselves, I had to speed this one up. Check out my Grasshopper II build. Although they (the Hornet and Grasshopper II) only share the bumper and gear box, the build and design is very, very similar.
It really is! Wish I could get one, before the run is sold out.... but with my friend's situation, I don't see that happening anytime soon.... But yours looks stunning! Murph
Gav G Thanks Gav! Yeah they really made a beautiful kit! I like the Hornets with the blue helmet and it seems to fit this one too I think! Thanks for the comment and for watching.
Ha ha, yeah, If I forget the sun glasses I', looking forward getting blinded when it reflects the sun :-) I agree. It really suits the Hornet. Not too bling bling, but together with the black wheels, it really looks good and smooth. Thanks for watching, my friend!
Wow the metallic black shell looks so nice! Awesome Job painting the driver, looks amazing. Excellent work on the decals. Good background music too! moonlight sonata. One of my favourites. Awesome video! 👍
Yeah they really stepped up and made a beautiful body here. I am no master at painting or applying decals compared to some of the real masters out there, but for my talent and time, I'm happy :-) Yeah, like that piece of music here. Another great classical piece for a real classic car :-) Thank you very much for the support and feedback, Harkeness! Looking forward following your channel too.
Ahh, those can be wiped away again. Thought you meant the fingerprints would start a chemical proces, he he (it actually does on certain metals). Go to a sword collector and touch his ancient non-stainless steel blades and you will certianly get a response from the owner :-) The metal-plating will probably crack easily (or easier than normal plastic paint) though, when running it, so that's a real bad feature and a real problem with these bodies.
Thanks! I'm no master painter, so all it requires is a little bit of patience. For this I think I just used the brush. I have started to use a tooth pick since I got that tip :-)
Hello Mo! Got some other build videos that includes trimming and painting and applying the decals (as you know this one came pre-cut and pre-plated), but no detailed instructional videos per se (yet). Normally it’s enough to follow the instructions though. Usually I just cut them with a lexan scissor, clean up the edges with sand paper/files, wash them thoroughly, dry with a micro fiber cloth, mask off if required, apply 3-6 (thin) coats with 30-60 minutes apart.
@@NordicRC thanks! I've seen where they paint before they cut and vice versa I was just trying to get any helpful tips to avoid potential problems. Also I've seen soap and water used for decals so I was wondering about pros and cons of that as well as if the Tamiya decal glue is worth using for a more permanent stay
Personally I do not use anything with the decals. Just apply them, but I'm careful not to place my fingers on the places where the decals go before I apply them. They stick fine as lomng as one is careful giving them a thorough "rubb" afterwards and apply them without aitr bubbles (though I suspect you already know this). I do much the same as my good friend from the UK, Mark Bryan, here: ruclips.net/video/nvkcJ5dF_OM/видео.html Hope it is useful. From him I also learned the trick with the cutton buds (instead of using finger nails to press them on which can potentially damage the stickers). If you find the video useful tell him I send you :-) Great channel he have.
Absolutely a nightmare to build !!! Fuming I bought this my son for Xmas, Thought I just had to put the wheels on or something like that. Need someone to build it does Anyone in Manchester build theses?? Very frustrating
I thought it was a very pleasant build, but I know, if one wasn’t prepared for a complete assembly kit I can imagine it would seem frustrating. It’s actually easy. If you got this version with the pre-cut/pre-plated body it will only take 2-4 hours. An afternoon. The standard version also comes as an XB model (factory assembled and painted, ready to run except for batteries and charger). I hope you find a solution.
Hot car. Just so insanely aesthetically pleasing and iconic.
Yeah, a real 1980s design and Icon 🥰
Great Job! One of the most iconic rc cars ever made
Thanks, bro. Definitely agree! Looking forward taking it out again this season.
Looks Fabulous!!!
Yeah! Such a classic and icon.

figata il metallico nero!
super cool black metallic
I think so too! Grazie! :-)
Very shiny, you will need sun glass to drive this on a sunny day :-). I think one of the best looking Black Metallic bodies they have done.

It's looking awesome! The metallic black is stunning, but don't touch it too often 😀 Great build 🤘
Thanks! It really does! Why not touch it too often? To prevent oxidation?
No, too many finger prints :)

I hope the body will stay awesome as long as possible.
Me too :-) But if it does not, it means I had some good runs with it :-)
Excellent build 👍👍
Thank you very much, Daniel! Just uploaded it’s first run some weeks ago. It is a fun runner!
Awesome looks great
I bet it is mate👍
whoooha, nice car/job
Thanks! Definitly a little beauty. Tamiya takes all the credit :-)
that's a nice one! =)
Thanks! I like it too :-)
thumbs up
Thanks!
Really impressed with the effort painting the driver figure, can I ask how you detailed eye features?
Thanks! I'm no master painter, so all it requires is a little bit of patience. For this I think I just used the brush. I have started to use a tooth pick since I got that tip :-)
Any tips for painting and trimming a polycarbonate body?

C quoi ce délire ????? J'aime tout les styles musicaux mais là ça va pas ( obliger de couper le son ). Bref, du grand N'IMPORTE QUOI.
