That's because I don't know music theory! LOL!!! I just know what sounds good...and then I gotta research how to describe it without looking stupid. :)
WOW!!! So simple but extremely effective, been sitting in my room with my CBG just walking up and down that ladder, it's like a form of meditation, Thank you so much for your videos, keep them coming.
Great video Shane. Great to see you back with a load of new lessons. To be honest, I had been playing less than I was, but these new vids are really inspiring me! I had been fooling around with this idea, but as I am a novice, I only knew the blues scale.... this is going to be a game changer! Thanks for all the lessons - keep up the good work!
I stumbled on this again. It is chill music. I will be in Warsaw, Missouri this weekend for the Ozark CBG Festival, BTW, A.J. should be there if the authorities have not voided the option. Lol
Awesome lessons I am new to cigar box guitars. I have had a great time learning how to play. Your videos have definitely got me started in the right direction. I have purchased a slide from you as well great product. Keep the lessons coming.
Great lesson. This is my favorite style on CBG. First it matches my playing style, slow and sad haha. And hopefully pretty sometimes. I realize that I’m always using the high G string though, now I’ve gotta try it on the low G. And when it needs to be a little edgier, I throw in the 3rd fret and play with the minor scale. So much fun, thanks Shane!
Shane, you have two older, similar videos to this one. One is the video in which you respond to people asking for a “secret riff” to help sell their CBGs. In the other one you talk about why you fell in love with the CBG. It made me fall in love with the CBG too, and I can’t find it, and I don’t remember the name of it. In it you played.a CBG with a Drew Estates Undercrown box with maroon “wings” that look like strat wings. Is that video still on RUclips? Could please post a link to it? Thanks!!! And thanks for doing what you do
@@richardwillis6485 Secret Riff: ruclips.net/video/uSQaVl9EdNQ/видео.html You're going to see some updated version of a few older vids. Now that I've figured out the simple "split screen" editing, I can show both hands. Besides, it's always good to revisit the basics from time to time.
The repeated notes are also known as a 'drone'. "...a drone is a harmonic or monophonic effect or accompaniment where a note or chord is continuously sounded throughout most or all of a piece." - Wikipedia One of my favorite examples in pop music is 'Dear Prudence' by The Beatles.
I love the making of instruments and the making of music logically follows.
I love how you explain the music theory in such an easy to understandable way!

Yep! And I've even covered Dear Prudence in a very drone-ish way. I love that sound.
Since i cant play..... thats all i do is mess around. Thanks for simple explanation
I’ve written songs that started with “messin’ around” riffs
Why are you playing one fret up,i.e. starting on the 13th and saying you are starting on the 12th?
My pinky is hiding the fact that the metal slide is starting on the 12th fret. Fat fingers wreck everything! 😂
@@ShaneSpeal thank you for clearing that up.And you rock the hell out of that 3 and 4 sting btw.Rock on!
