Stepps moves alot of stuff here in Florida. They have put some miles on them. Good classics to refurb. Id rather refurb than run the junks today that are new
Yes, I used to see them all over the Tampa area.
With a engine refresh those would be great additions to the towing fleet
Every time you unload something from that trailer, I'm yelling "Just put a 2×6 in front of the wheels to lift it up enough to not rub." 😄 Pretty cool rigs.👍
Both those trucks have lots of potential. Too good to part out.IMHO. Just a matter of money.

Pre emissions trucks. Should be market for them. Freshened up they would run reliability for a long time
I'd love to see these bad units rebuilt or fixed up and put back to work. They r some bad ass rigs
Got a job 5 weeks ago working at a heavy equipment/ big rig repair shop after doing 2 years as a PM guy. Love working on these old trucks. Well love/hate for sure. lol.
Don't sell them make a fleet of them

I would do an in frame on both trucks and put them to work. Especially the second one with the double frame. It would be a heavy haul truck.

That truck looks very similar to the one my cousin had when I was young. Sounds like it too! His had to have been an older model it was before 2001.
The 2nd one is what we call a Michigan special. High horsepower, heavy suspension, big gear boxes. Roll on big wheels

The wide span on the drive axles give you more weight, you can have on them

That axle spacing is called a Canadian Spread and it allows more weight in Canada. Maybe they were originally Canadian Trucks. Bill

Those two Peterbilt conventionals deserve more life than to be scrapped.
13:24 that downshift sounded kind of cool for a diesel truck engine ngl.
Can you feel the floor vibrate when you move the overhead Crain? I used to haul coils and you would feel the floor, but the Crain was bigger because the coils would weigh 15,000-30,000. The other building had coils weighing as much as 50,000
If you decide to part one out im needing a hood front sorings and a few other parts to change a set back axle 377 to a short hood 378 or 379

As long as you don’t rev it up too high immediately after start up , but it’s actually better for the engine because it gets the oil pressure up and delivers it to all the vital parts , that’s why the engine manufactures recommend as little idle time as possible , when idling at 800 plus rpm’s it supplies the engine with good oil pressure

Hey Bruce them two Peterbilt's that you just bought I would take them too a Peterbilt company too look at them engines too get them fully working I know that you want too start up a towing business with other people working for you I would add them two Peterbilt's too your fleet so other people can go out and bring back a load off trucks.
Those came from 92 by the hard rock they take care of that fleet pretty well it looks like

IVE WATCHED THESE TRUCKS WORK DAILY HERE IN TAMPA. STEPPS ALWAYS TOOK PRIDE IN THERE TRUCKS. TAMPA WAS THE MAIN OWNERS LOCATION.

Most in aus are 18 and pretty much all double framed that I have seen

How do you know when it needs rebuilt in old semi trucks. When rebuilt they smoke a lot while shifting. Is their a way to tell by color? Or how?

I would keep them and freshen them up. If you wanted to sell them, give Tim a call. The heavy hauling he is getting into would be a nice addition.
I say keep the heavy haul 18 speed, it is the nicer truck, but swap the battery box and fuel tanks. that truck could be a nice show truck to replace tratter taxi and you can do some rolling coal on the highways
