I’m heading there tomorrow 3/17! Was checking this out for reconnaissance! The first 1 on the fish gum was a spotted bay bass the other was an Opaleye. On the west coast we target Opaleye, awesome flavor fish and they always bite peas!
Man I got to check out that area, hopefully y’all get back safely. Cool talk with the local, All fishermen talk the same language. Keep it rocking ,you are killing it .
irregardless if you caught the target fish or large species fish the fact that you made it to another country and captured some fishing efforts is priceless. something most will never get a chance to do. great show matt, enjoyed every bit of it and helped remind me of some of my travels, thanks,,,
Matt, it was so fun to see you and the wife on Vacation in CABO! When I was a small boy, I used to watch the Detroit Tigers play baseball and there were players like Al Kaline, Jim Northrup and Willie Horton, these guys did not make a ton of money in the 60s and early 70s like they do today, but they were playing for the Love of the game and my friend, you are fun to watch because you truly, Truly, Love Fishing! As they say down there, Vaya Con Dios mi Amigo!
seen fred flying over tx on his way to cabo lol... said something about evacuating from the hurricane; should be there in a few days and don't leave before he sees ya
That’s the way it goes sometimes. Just when you get it figured out you gotta leave. But brother you were in Cabo so it was a great video. They have some great wahoo if you can get off shore. Maybe next time
He is Human!! He does curse! Lol awesome vid bro, caught my first pomp from the surf last week and the only reason I knew what it was is because of your videos haha, Stay Bummy
Great video!! I went to Jensen's by Walmart and got me some lures, the Ballyhoo 2oz got me me a decent size snapper in front the Sherton hotel!!! Safe travels brother!!
There is another Cobo you should fish if you ever have the opportunity. This is Cobo San Lucas, at the very bottom tip of the peninsula of Baja California. Both the Sea Of Cortes and the Pacific side has great surf fishing. Roster Fish, Serrias (Spanish Mackerel) and dog tooth snapper, for types of fish you can catch.
Great video! I love cabo! When i go to mexico or even more south, the locals tell me the “pergo” i think it means snapper as well as other big fish move up go the beaches in the spring time. A couple of other locals also told me they fish at night to catch some kind of snapper. I cant wait for your next cabo video! The off shore fishing is really good there. Its relatively cheap and you dont have to travel far to catch tuna and big game fish.
That first fish looked a lot like a Black Sea bass. Never seen those others. I admire your adventurous spirit! I’ve heard people eat needlefish. Not me! Great Cabo trip and videos!
@@chriswincek8672 you’re probably right as I know nothing of Cabo - never been there. I just said what it looked like to me from the limited fish I’ve seen fishing on the NC coast. Nice to hear from another Chris!
@@jasl7358, I usually catch a few small ones while fishing fresh shrimp for pompano in September and October. I’ve also had a buddy of mine catch a small bonefish out of the surf at Pine Knoll Shores while fishing beside me. That kinda made me jealous. I’ve also talked with people who work at the aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores that told me that the permit they have on display were captured off the N.C. coast.
What rod do you suggest paring with my daiwa bg 4K for surf and jetty fishing in San Diego. I had a st croix but it broke so I’m looking for a good reliable 9-10 ft
I surf fished in the Yucatan years ago but never got a license. I could not find anything online indicating that licenses are required. Did you have to get a license? I was waiting for a roosterfish as I'm sure you were too.
Tread out a few feet into the water to reach those longer targets. I don't go deep into the water here in NC, but ankle to knee depth can help a lot. A wave might get you now and again, but toes in the surf is part of the experience.
5:46 largemouth blenny, common from Los Angeles to central America.. added at 6:11 a chromis species, possibly puntipinnis? edit again: not the blacksmith, possibly a Cortez damselfish?
Awesome video, man! A couple tips though.. Try putting what the fish is on the screen when you're on trips outside of the norm like this. And pleaseeeee do replays on stuff like that wave.. lol I'm a north Alabama angler and I get on a lot of big catfish and striped bass in my area. Let me know if you wanna try for a freshwater beast sometime!
Hey Beach Bum have you ever thought about doing a puffer fish catch and cook ? I didn't think I would like it but a friend talked me into trying it and now they are one of my favorite fish to eat
@@BamaBeachBum that's the best. Is it nice there? Very touristy or not to bad? How long is the flight from your state? Your channel is one of my favorites! You are such a kind man and always treat the fish with respect.
Cornet fish or trumpet fish.. Couldn't really tell... Probably Cornet because of the location. Some of the smaller Hawk Fish are very popular Reef Aquarium Fish. Some real beauties available come in a variety of colors and species.
Hey Matt! Thankfully your camera was okay. If you can get the wax that ppl use to put on their braces you can smush it around the mic connection and it will be much more resistant to damage. Thanks for that mackerel btw! It was delicious!
@@BamaBeachBum Glad to meet you too! I had to come back home unfortunately. Didnt get that bull red I wanted. Maybe I'll see you out there again when i come back for my revenge!

The penn surf rods are very good as well as the okuma surf rods, BBB recommends the Ninja Tackle Dagger in his description tho

Great vid Matt! Fish offshore someday, it can be great fishing!
Great video, keep it up.
What are the specs on that rod and reel?
The first fish on the fishbites was a blenny. We catch them all the time in south Texas and florida
I caught a grouper on a silver spoon from a kayak yesterday. Surprised the hell out of me since I was fishing flats.
I surf fished in the Yucatan years ago but never got a license. I could not find anything online indicating that licenses are required. Did you have to get a license?

Move over Jeremy Wade! BBB world fishing tour. Looks like fun. Thanks for the superb scenes.
Love that guy!
The bluegill looking fish is a siclet (sp?)
Do you have to get a fishing license in mexico?
Jensen had great guides bro.
Hey as a Cabo local you should try fishing a10 miles north of the arch if you want to catch some nice Durado

Hi Matt, what gear/ setup did you use during this trip?
I didn’t go over it in this vid, but if you watch the very beginning of my last video I posted I cover all of it.
What mic setup are you using. In this video it looks like your mic is hooked direct into your GoPro?
It’s in the description of the video. Very affordable.
Awesome thanks!
How many good lures did you lose on those jagged rocks? Great vid!
Pacific Ocean or Sea of Cortez ?
This was more on the Sea of Cortez side
That was awesome. #Cabobeachbum

What type of fishing backpack are you using?.
It’s a camera bag I picked up from target. I can’t think of the brand.
