Wow! I couldn’t tell if you have a lock and roll hitch. Have you ever weighed the trailer? We tow a XVenture XV3 with our Diesel Wrangler. I always scout and if it looks to sketchy I don’t do it. Glad you had help nearby.
Yep, we were only like minutes from reaching our target camp spot for the night, so i was like "bah, i got this, lets just get to camp" instead of taking the time to rope it up first. We carry traction boards as well, but they would not have helped in this case, since the angles of the washout, the entrance, and the exit were all so sketch. the ground was also super loose and eroding away on the passenger side
Brother, You always half to have your own recovery gear! If you are going to play with the the Big Boys be prepared! They make a Portable Gas Wrinch or even two portable chain hoist! Best Regards I am glad you and your family are Safe!
Thanks! Yeah, we have our own recovery gear but it would have been a lot of manual winching. i decided to save myself time and effort and instead see if a buddy could come help :D
In my case, it was 100% driver error. I really should have just rigged up a safety strap because this washout was incredibly sketchy. My buddy who came to help with the recovery wouldn't even take his truck over it. To compound the issue, the water tank significantly lowers the center of gravity, but ours was nearly empty at the time.
Glad no one was hurt and that things are back on all fours (or two as the case may be). I just got a new trailer and want to learn what NOT to do. Thanks for the lesson. 😉
@@SonoranSpaceProgram For sure! I got a Tuff Stuff Xtreme Terrain. Wanted just a little extra space for the family and some comfort items. The Jeep will still have necessities (stove, fridge, smaller roof top tent) for if I go alone.
That was our makeshift line weight so that if for any reason the winch line broke it would drop to the ground instead of flying at any of us and causing injury
@@SonoranSpaceProgram I just joking because your buddy that came to rescue you said you need a Toyota LOL I also drive a Toyota Land cruiser Jeeps are good but they're limited great video !
Pero si este sujeto no sabe manejar ni la cámara va a poder conducir un trailer. Es un verdadero milagro que no haya volcado su vehículo con familia y todo... Lol
It was bound to happen at some point. I actually talked myself out of strapping up a safety line just before it happened, hah.
Would a different hitch (Pintle?) have made a difference? Is that trailer over 1000 lbs? Glad you had a memorable Thanksgiving.
Always great to have friends willing to come to the rescue
for sure, Tom is an absolute savior for coming to help us, on a holiday no less!
Turtleback down!!! Glad nobody got hurt and you got it back on 2 wheels.

No traction boards to bridge the gap?
Sometimes an anchor rope is your friend. Glad u got out ok!

Great stuff to capture. Learned a lot.
This is the second Turtleback trailer tip over I have seen on RUclips. Do you think the trailer is top heavy? I wonder how Patriot trailer compares.

@@SonoranSpaceProgram We want to explore S. AZ as well.
I thought you were up in Redington when you sent that pick. This is right down the road from me!
Why the blanket on the tow strap?

Wow I wouldn’t think it would roll with the lock n roll system
Excellent video
Thank you, Christopher!

Do those come with the tent or do you need to pay for that extra?
