  • The Church Forests of Ethiopia through the Eyes of Award-Winning Photographer, Kieran Dodds
Ethiopia, particularly the northern part of the country has lost its virgin forests to farmlands which have been expanding, infiltrating every valley and hill. The last patches of the forest are found on the yards of Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Churches. Even these are not safe as people are desperate to survive and they are depending on nature.
To protect the last patches of forests people like Dr. Alemaye Wassie and Dr. Meg Lowman have been working with the church fathers, the local communities. People like Kieran Dodds are also working hard to raise awareness about Ethiopia’s Church Forests to the international community.
The Scottish award-winning photographer Kieran Dodds has taken the Ethiopian story to the world through his photographs. He has been also exhibiting and speaking about Ethiopia’s Church Forests, the most recently one in Yale University. Today Kieran Dodds joins me from Scotland, Edenbgrah via zoom to talk about the work his doing to raise awareness about Ethiopia’s Church Forests.
