Asi Wind: What Magic & Mind Reading Reveal About the Brain
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 22 май 2024
- In this episode, my guest is Asi Wind. He's one of the world’s top magicians and mentalists.
We discuss what magic and mentalism reveal about the human mind, including how memories are made, how to erase them, and how and why we perceive things the way we do, all in the context of how he performs his astonishing tricks.
Asi explains that magic works because it involves storytelling, which is key to how we organize memories. He also explains how emotional connection allows people to co-create and believe a common narrative, even one that did not actually occur.
We also discuss how Asi's love of painting and photography and his specific daily routine allow him to access creativity. We also discuss fear, perfectionism, and how feeling emotions deeply serves his craft.
Whether you are interested in magic or not, this conversation with Asi will give you an incredible window into how you perceive, learn, and remember the world around you and how what you believe may or may not be based in reality.

I wish I could tell you how much your podcast has changed my life and the way I think. I wasn’t able to go to college or university. I moved out at a young age and could never concentrate in school.(biggest regret of my life) and could never have afforded it anyway. I listen to all of the podcasts on Spotify daily when I’m walking or driving…I feel like I’m getting a free education. Thank you SO much for this. I’m grateful 🙏

His teacher is Juan Tamariz! In the 80s Spanish kids grew up watching his shows and then we would play at doing card tricks during recess at school or at family dinners. He's an amazing magician and he also blends magic with humor. Such a cool guy!
Mr. Huberman, Sr. You got our support; you are an educator and you actually have helped people improve their lives. Something that the gutter press will never do. That sewer MSM 'press' actually are the cause of a lower cognitive development in humans. Thank you for your work. Keep it up.
Dr. Huberman - you are doing amazing work and having a huge impact on the minds of millions. Thank you.
Yes, and you even managed to juggle a small harem! Bravo.

@@timm_RudigerNot of that.

Nothing the media says can take away the credibility of your work and studies! Keep up the great work at helping others take care of their bodies. Love the Podcast!
Probably not studies.. but it’s important to take the bad parts with the good to get a holistic view. Else you’re just a slave to anyone that says things you like to hear.
So, what you’re saying is that bro’s be bro’s and that’s entirely ok? Thank you for putting your name out there with your full chest regarding this, women in the future will be able to google your name and find out important information like this so that they can avoid individuals who think integrity and honesty in relationships aren’t necessary. The western4B movement is happening for a reason.
😂 @ninsidhe
Dawg, I’m saying his personal life has nothing to do with what he is talking about in his podcast. His work should not get discredited because of some personal short comings (if it is true.) Just trying to leave his personal matters outside of his career.
@@Atlas92936 very well said
@@Ninsidhe these people keep saying they learned so much from this podcast😅 then they say sleeping right and eating right is what they learned which is common knowledge. Oh and they learned science. They think everything said here is scientific fact. Watching people defend their parasocial relationships is entertaining. It is a good way to identify people that you wouldn't want anything to do with. You couple never trust them lol
I think today’s a good day to begin watching all your brilliant episodes again.
Dear Andrew: I don't care what the New York Magazine writes one bit.Thank you for what you've done for my life.
He has helped me too but I am disappointed by the article, as it suggests a man who is very different to how he presents himself to the public. The accounts are not just ex girlfriends, but includes male friends and peers. The overall impression is a flawed, entitled, flaky and selfish man.
The world is not black and white, you can be grateful towards somebody, and still see how their discourse is flawed and make criticism.
@@WonderfulQuill-nq3fq What makes you believe the article (more than your eye)? How do you know it's true? And why are you rushing to judge someone by it?
@@jovinco3693 Did you not read my comment? And did you read the article?
@@WonderfulQuill-nq3fqwere you really expecting anything different?
Dr. Huberman, turns out you and I have even more in common than what I had thought. We both come from a punk rock background. A couple years ago I almost died from complications from bipolar disorder. Without your protocols I would likely not be alive, or would not be where I am today. Additionally to following your protocols, I have been working with a sponsor in a 12 steps program to manage my sexual addiction. I have had great results. I am hoping you get the healing you need and I only wish the best for you. Thank you for all you have done for me.
I think it is time that you help him. It seems that you have mastered your addiction. He has not, if the rumors are true. But I think we should not judge him for that like he did not judge his audience for mistakes and addiction.
To be attracted to different kind o women is called the coolidge effect. That is the natural programm of the DNA, if you are not balanced in your base chakra , how it is called in Eastern teaching. That is the same as Malkut(one of the sephiroth) in Jewish/Christian or earth element in Western teaching.
If you are balanced you programm your sexual attraction as I understood it. I was kind of baited by the title, I thought he talks about real magic and the topics that I mentioned.
I have certainly not mastered my addiction, I am only in a program and have had success in my recovery from compulsive sexual or romantic activities and am involved in a program that supports this. I will always have these addictions, I will only manage them. I could not help Andrew, other than to tell him he is not alone and there are so many other of us who have similar complications, we have made a mess of our lives in regards to sex and relationships, but there is a way out of this lie we have created.
@@SalvationLife I think the topic is interesting., because a lot of people struggle with it. I am not sure what is the perfect behaviour. But I think both kinds of extremes are negative. There are people that dont want to have sex and are celibate and people that have too much sexual energy. So it would be interesting to research the stuff. I read stories about people that try to be celibate and ended up sleeping with goats (not sexual just sleep in the same bed as goats). They ended up having all kind of strange behavior. I wish you luck and hope you achieve what your goal is.
HATE SURVIVIOR!!!! You are doing incredible work, your have literally changed my and millions of others lives! Big Thanks for everything man
You’re changing lives for the better, please don’t listen to all the media crap. We’ll keep listening and supporting you.
I was so skeptical about this video, but it’s actually so sweet in the later half of the video. It’s so crucial to highlight the beauty of empathy in art. Thanks for the great podcast!
Thank you, Dr. Huberman. This channel has always been a gem for me; no amount of personal slandering could change the positives you and the guests you've interviewed have brought into my life. While I don't watch all of your podcasts, I religiously sit down at my desk and take notes for those that are in my area of interest, watching them through in their entirety without any breaks. I am forever grateful for all of this quality information that you have made effectively free for everyone on the internet. I don't specifically buy into mouthpiece articles and personal slanders on social media platforms. Lots of love from 🇦🇪.
I have run 3 half marathons and 5 10k stints after discovering this podcast. I can safely say I am slowly understanding my brain and am in control. Running was outside my comfort zone and have sought to tame my mind to do it and I have!. Thanks Andrew!
Sir! I watch RUclips everyday for decades and I don't comment. But I'll do now, because you help me change the trajectory of my life year 2020, January 1st when I watch your podcast with Rich Roll. You literally saved my life and I know others too! I hope this message reaches you, stay strong, it'll pass!
Dearest Andrew,
I was crying as i was listening to this podcast❣️
So many times you find the most amazing people from all walks of life and vastly different fields. Your podcasts have been life changing for me! Words don't express the gratitude i feel for U and your hosts!
I am also extremely delighted to listen to your verbal communication, the way u phrase your thoughts, the aloquent and precise choice of your words adds an extra layer of pleasre to these adventures with U!
If u ever come to Hungary, please know that u have family here 🤗
Thank you for all the hard work and the incredibly informative podcasts you share for free. It is life changing. I have made a lot of positive changes thanks to your information. I love that you give the science before the protocols because it helps to understand the issue better. Ignore the haters out there. You are cherished by many for your positive contributions to people's health. Stay strong!
If you are successful, fame that will come with all these hurtful gossips, provably it will pass, patience, don’t read those false news and do what ever your wise part and people you trust might recommend you. And if there is something true, we can change for good, that’s all. I think you had a mission with the world: making science accessible to the common people and I hope you can continue with whatever is your or are your passion or interest. Bear hugs from 🇯🇵
Saw the New York Mag “hit piece” and immediately subscribed. If that garbage publication hates this guy so much then he’s gotta be doing great things. 😂
The publication includes accounts of real people. Don't blindly follow people uncritically. Cancel culture is dumb, but at least criticize where criticism is due.
that's not a wise filter to use to give someone credibility, creating polarization is a powerful tool that lays a trap that we often step into.
we should draw on our own abilities to use discernment to judge people & situations for ourselves.
@@HORNGEN4 Real Cardi B followers as someone commented here. So yes it's real people, but not the kind i have any ounce of respect about.
@@HORNGEN4 The idea that no one has skeletons in their closet besides Huberman, is the reason this whole debacle is a waste of time. The level of hypocrisy and lack of self-awareness from the critics is astounding.
People act like Huberman burnt down an orphanage. What he did is not uncommon, not saying it's right, I'm saying I guarantee none of us are in any position to judge. If we want to talk about criticism where it's due, then you should be the first to bring your skeletons out the closet so we can collectively judge you, to see if you are capable of judging him.
@@Tate525 you clearly didn't read the article(s). There's nothing to disrespect unless you're purely misogynistic.
Dear Andrew, I really enjoy your shows and the knowledge it brings. I appreciate your honesty and service to normal people like me. We may not be perfect but at least try to be better. I did also like the talk with Asi Wind, never will I look at magic as simple tricks again. Thanks
Dr.Huberman, you and your worked helped me a LOT that no one else could have done. We are with you and always thankful of what you are doing.
Thank you man for all that you do. Not only do you bring first class scientific knowledge to the world, you are helping people like you did for me. Your advice has gotten me out of a state of severe illness. I have listened to all your podcasts and awaiting every 2 weeks your new ones. Do not let unethical journalists driven by sensationalism invade your privacy nor revenge seeking ex girlfriends impact your great work. Your private life and the pieces you chose not to share are none of the world's business. Myself and so I assume thousands of others stand behind you and your work. Stay strong, it just comes with celebrity status. Please keep doing what you do.
Agree. Stay strong and keep your head up.
Agreed. What Dr Huberman does in his personal life has nothing to do with the scientific information he provides. Personally, Im here for that, not for the drama. I feel some of us need to learn to seperate the art from the artist.
Dr Huberman is a Gift to the Enquiring Mind to be Sure, to be Sure 🕊🕊🕊
Interesting the comments here are more serious than those on instagram. Maybe those who watch longer RUclips vids are more mature.
Anyway I still came here with popcorn to read everyone’s views. As expected two camps. Those normalizing his behaviour, and those condemning him although I’m sure they benefitted from his work and teachings.
I’ll put myself in a third group. Andrew, you’re a dick, but I’ve benefitted from your work immensely and grateful for that. Now please teach us how to handle 6 chicks at the same time! 😂
I like your popcorn comment :-). Just to describe my position I am neither normalizing nor condemning (obviously), I stongly believe it's none of my business to comment nor judge his private life. I wonder how Kerry Howley would feel if one would examine her private life, I guess, it's occupational hazard for her for and all journalists on National Enquirer level. @@Hkizzie
Andrew, Andrew, always joyful watching you. 😘
Andrew Huberman, there will be haters, always. Continue to do your work and don’t be discouraged. Your personal business is none of our business, and the quality of the information you provide remains top notch. Good luck with everything! Hope we get more cool stuff to watch
OMG! Please make an episode dedicated to visual arts, colors, perception, how it stimulates the brain! Love to hear more about science behind it
It was Holi a few days ago India. That's the celebration where they through colored powders at each other to ward off evil and promote good fortune. Check out the Ayurvedic perspective on the powers related to different colors. Fascinating!! Bless✌️♥️🕉🌷📿🙏
Yes please!
Absolutely wonderful conversation. Thank you both so much. As you said in this recording... "no hyperbole is enough"... to describe the joy and value of these podcasts
Wow.. just Wow! How the brain and the mind work has been fascinating for me since I can remember. And I regret I didn't go for psychology during college, some years ago. But lately, I've been considering going back to college for psychology since I discovered Andrew Huberman eight months ago. Thanks Andrew and guest for the inspiration you've brought to my life.
The part about guiding attention was really fascinating. Some coaches do this very well also. The first time I met with a coach, I went on for about 10 minutes about a challenge I was having at work. She listened patiently and then asked "how can you maximize this opportunity?" Her question stopped me in my tracks as it wasn't what I was expecting, but what she did was brilliant. It directed my attention to solutions instead of the problem, which was helpful as I sometimes laser focus on the problem. To this day that is still one of my favorite questions.
Quran says: “Allah:there is no deity worthy of worship except he”:The Neccessary life/consciousness,sustainer of life/consciousness.”
Wire like neuronal structures that conduct electricity via ions/neurotransmitters in the CNS/PNS possess no attribute of thinking/life and yet that has “randomly” led to life. Consciousness/thinking is an innate idea(“Fitra”)that is distinct from carbon skeleton and yet the materialist scientist believes that chemistry turned into biology via “god of randomness”/”Emergent property”/”law of nature”. Consciousness can only stem from Necessary Consciousness (Allah-one/indivisible/loving/self-sufficient perfection.
The real problem is people putting someone like Huberman on a pedestal and being shocked that he is in fact human and flawed like every single one of us, get a grip people, I'm still watching his content because his personal life is none of my business
Dr. Huberman, I have to say as someone who has been struggling, your content has been game changing in figuring out what’s happening to me. I feel like the information you give I should be paying you, with money I don’t have. From the bottom of my heart, thank you 🙏
You have our full support. Please keep doing what you do best and ignore the slanderers.
The Sultan of Science is the gift that keeps on giving. As good as ever. I refuse to believe that recent gossip will ruffle his feathers at all. But, I think it gives me a legitimate excuse for a bit of daydreaming...of being Dr. Huberman's Secretary. I have felt a bit guilty for even going there before, but after reading all this catnip for an independent sub type woman, I can now only give in to my fantasies after years of resisting. May the lord have mercy on me.
You are a guy right?
Have fun!
Having worked in the motor industry many years ago, I was taught to question customers in a particular way. This would guide their responses, really quite accurately. I discovered that Ford, for example, would get approximately 400 pieces of information from a prospective customer before selling them the car of their dreams...a Ford ...if they didn't have enough money for a Ferrari. It's scary. I have never driven a Ford incidentally but the point is that we're all subject to ' magic' without even realising. Take a look around your home, what have you bought without intending to? I'm guessing quite a bit🤔
As a Ford driver can say not and never been disappointed.
Can relate. I'm in Solar (Helps that I believe in the Technology)
Dr. Huberman I just read the article about you and I'm still staying in our "cult." As the article implies haha
So you made some mistakes and your opps came after you. You're human and if anything it makes you more relatable. I've made too many mistakes to count. Why would I judge your personal life when I am human too. It sucks that your personal affairs are out in the public and that some people will judge you because of that but that is just something we all do. We make mistakes and we deal with the outcome of our decisions. That's being a human. Don't stop what you're doing with your podcast's. You're human and deserve compassion and empathy as does every other human being does.
I agree. the interview where he talks about his wild past made me love him even more.
Try and say human any more 😂
Making mistakes vs long term philandering and leading double lives is not the same thing at all
Keep up your awesome work DR. Huberman. You are making a difference, and helping us all.
Thank you Andrew for all that you do!!
It is a one man. So much courage in this one man. Courage to speak for the helpless, where cowards chose to look the other way. But such a man cannot be ordinary. He is not ordinary. He is Dr Huberman. My deepest regards.
Thank you for your great contribution to the public. We disregard the noise! keep on the good work!
GREAT episode, as a highly sensitive nocturnal and creative person this was an unexpected gift. The quality of your guests, your questions/conversation, and the amount of information you're able to continually provide are all literally unmatched and unbelievable. Thank you for everything brother.
Hey mate, if you weren't popular you are now. I think your a godsend and a significant helpfull voice. Keep it up sir.
Mindblowing. I thoroughly enjoyed the insightful art discussion and the revelation regarding Rothko's intuition. I would be thrilled if you could dedicate an episode to Neuroesthetics and Neuroscience applied to Architecture. As an architect, I find the groundbreaking discoveries in this field to be revolutionary and incredibly important for enhancing the way we design living spaces.
OOOOOOO!!! That sounds FASCINATING!!!
You are a great man Andrew ! A fantastic thinker and scientific. Improving focus and working memory actually have the potential to change society if well apply, you are one of the only scientific public figure to defend the possibility to do so. keep up your work. You don't need to be perfect. The burden of perfection can't be bear by anyone. Love your work !!
This is a magic episode. No pun intended. Love this.
This is the most amazing episode, I did not know of Asi before, but I am so impressed with the wisdom he imparted in the conversation, from truth in art to his breadth of interest in many different arts. Wow!
Amazing work Dr. Huberman! Thank you so much on behalf of the many whose lives you're improving. 💛👊
I TRULY loved this episode and I TRULY love this dude. I reason with a lot of things that he said and overall is rrefreshing to see
I know almost nothing about the controversy that's happening, I watched a video by breaking points and he stated that it was all anonymous and even if it wasn't I don't go off of just words alone, I would need to see proof. From the sound of it, it sounds like a hit piece. Anyways, regardless of what happened, I don't come here to learn about your personal life, I'm here for the top quality content. Keep doing your thing by educating us and provided high quality information. I also realized I wasn't subscribed and subscribed :)
Superb! He's an excellent choice for a podcast guest. A magician with a knack for practical psychology, he astounds with his insights into the human mind. It's refreshing to host someone who seamlessly blends magic with psychological expertise, offering a unique perspective beyond traditional scientific discourse.
I love this interview. Beautiful. Thank you.
Deep conversation that reveals the multiple invisible layers and sophisticated craftsmanship that sculpts such a great magician. As it’s interesting to have a glance on what drives the creative process for Asi wind! Thanks for sharing this very engaging conversation!
AHHH you bring on the most insightful and giving guests !! Thank you. I'm a musician who paints and has odd sleeping patterns, according to every googled article and person I've ever known. I've been shamed quite heavily because of it and is something I fight against. It is truly a treat to hear someone as successful, productive, and wonderful as ASI shares a unique schedule. Thank you both for giving us this gift.
Am I correct in thinking that when Asi Wind says “you are the co-author of the trick / experiment”, he sort of refers to “the Heisenberg effect” (= the very act of observation directly alters the phenomenon under investigation)?
I am reading “The Dark Side of the Inner Child: The Next Step” by Stephen Wolinsky, and he refers to the same effect when talking about our perception / illusion of reality.
Whether I’m right or wrong, I really loved this episode. It does provide a lot of food for thought, and I’m sure it’ll make many people change the way they see the game of life.
Sending hugs and gratitude from Ukraine
Dr. Huberman, could you make an episode about the most efficient learning techniques, like retrieval, spaced repetition, mind mapping, etc.

Dear Andrew, I am here to tell you that what you have did in the scientific community is amazing! I hope you continue to achieve success in life and providing listeners and viewers with quality content!
I do think the most beautiful and different and unique of this episode, is not only how two people are sharing knowledge and exploring forms of expresión and how mind works but algo the emotions as part of it. When he speaks he just liberate this huge passion he has for art even more than for magic and how this immersed him in who he is. People call it to romantics life but really our experiences make us who we are and this episode is just such an amazing way to spend my time and confirm what I believe about how huge we are and our mind is but how important is pasión, emotions and expression to feel alive. Thank you both. Such a great episode !
Such an interesting and inspiring episode !!! One of my favorite out of almost all I’ve listened on your channel ! I have learned so much from it .

Hello Dr Huberman, I was wondering if you would consider doing an episode on left handed people, or left handed phenomenon. There is very little online about it, and it is pretty nebulous as a topic. I was wondering who better than you could gather, organise and spread that knowledge. Anyway just a thought. Love the podcast and thank you for all the amazing work 🙏🙂
Nothing more nebulous than being a lefty in Kindergarten and not being able to learn how to use lefty scissors to cut with my right hand. 😒

I wanted to pose the question, What are the potential long-term effects on an individual who consistently suppresses their true self to conform and fit in with societal norms, and how do these effects impact their emotional well-being, relationships, personal development, career success, and overall quality of life? Have there been any studies on this topic
You gonna wreck your brain, guess how I know. But your true identity is also subject to change. In a perfect world imagine yourself as a plant who needs certain type of climate and soil, that's where you gotta go. You might be adaptable to anything evergreen plant, but there is still some environment better for your species.

I am definitely the kind of freak Oliver Sacks would have liked to write about. Thank you for broadcasting creative people. It makes me feel normal ❤
Thank you for the good work you do
It's going to be awesome ❤ love these episodes
Thank you so much for all your videos.
So much help to me.
One of my favorite shows(and I’m not into magic at all), Asi Wind was a great guest. Thanks Andrew for exposing me/ us to things we would normally actively seek out.
It’s just more proof that his protocols work.
Dr H, I salute you!
Amen brother. While i am not much of a religious man, but following the protocols religiously is the key, especially the one about light-viewing behavior, that one alone was the biggest game changer in my stack. If you are not working past 10 pm, sleeping is the best choice you can make and to help with making that choice consistently your light viewing and eating behavior needs to be dialled in. I learned it from Andrew Huberman, it has massively changed my life.
My brain is just starting to come back to a new normal. Mil retired x3 yrs w. TBI&Migraines, and years of failed medical tx…neuroplasticity is awesome
Great episode! Thank you for all your work. It has been remarkably insightful.
Asi is such great thinker and performer. Thanks for having him on.
Look at what Andrew does for people and what the NYT does to people.
Asi is extremely and surprisingly articulating which makes this episode super interesting! It is also very eye opening for me and inspire me to look at magic from a total new perspective! Thank you Asi and Huberman ❤
Juan Tamariz! I used to watch him on Spanish TV when I was kid 😊. So nice you mentioned him.
Great listen. So many things to take in on how the mind works and how magic works as well to fool us.
A fascinating conversation with ASI Wind. He reveals his inner world as a person and as a magician. He is a true artist.❤
On the podcast about parenting, you mentioned that you read the comments on RUclips. I hope so! I have a suggestion or recommendation, would you consider doing an episode on narcissism with Dr. Ramani? Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the public, educating us and helping to make our lives better.
I wish you all the best.
Probably be the most watched episode ever...Though I doubt it will happen 😉
Andrew Huberman you're amazing keep doing what you do and never ever give up! Thank you for all your amazing insights and knowledge!
I learned of your show from Dan Bongino talking about a hit piece on you. Also mentioned is that he highly recommended your show and how he gets many good tips and information from you. Well, I'm a new listener and look forward to learning.
Dr Huberman can you make a detailed video on skin health and skin routine?
Oh god no, please don’t.
Go search a makeup tutorial for that.
He did episodes about hair and dental health. Why not more info about skin care?
He said he is preparing it. I'm also looking forward to it, my daughter has dermatitis atopica
@@BoBosVlog skincare industry is all a scam
