    To find the number of class (n)
    m= number of values
    N= 1+3.322(log(m)) then round it off
    N=1+3.322(log(20))
    =5.322≈5
    N=1+3.322(log(50))
    =6.643≈7

    Help!!
    I have 20 data points, the largest number is 43 and the smallest number is 3.
    I know that for 20 data points I need 5 classes, because 2^4= 16 and 2^5= 32
    My class width should then be (43-3)/5= 8 right? But if I do that I can't fit all observations in the classes
    My classes then look as follows:
    Class | Class width
    1. | 3-10
    2. | 11-18
    3. | 19-26
    4. | 27-34
    5. | 35-42
    But then my largest number (43) doesn't fit in it
    And if I choose a higher starting point for the classes, then my lowest number of 3 doesn't fit in it
    What am I doing wrong?

      i use this formula when computing for the number of classes K = 1 + 3.322 log (n) where n is the number of data points. after that, to compute for class width i simply use this C = R / K where R is the range (highest data - lowest data). make sure to round to the nearest integer ex. 5.31 rounds up to 6

    You could just take the log of both sides instead. So n=2k, in this case, 20=2k, log20=log2k, divide by log2 on both sides and you end up with 4.3 roughly. So 4 classes. Then max value-min value and then divide by classes (4) which equals 8. You would end up with 0-7, 8-15, 16-23, 24-32
