They pretty much did, with the e92. I feel that because the e46 gtr became so legendary but also because of the trouble Bmw went through with all of the homologation problems, they probably decided to give the next M3 a V8 from the start. Sure it was a crossplane V8 this time, but it allowed them to develop the p65b40 and compete in GT2 if I remember correctly

Well, this is not the exact one used in MW. MW used the bodykit design from 2001 GTR
Thinking about buying a E46 M3 and throwing a P65 engine in it with the Hollinger gearbox and stuff for the sound🤤 oh and the NFSMW livery
It'll be pricey, engine swapping isn't as easy as Forza and modern NFS make it out to be.

Knowing about technical specifications makes the people appreciate the car's much more. These kind of owners just are more sensitive for the engine, the gearbox, the transmission and all the different components of a vehicle. That's the thing many people and many super rich guys forget about if they buy rare and expensive sports cars. But there are people who only put the cars in a garage and look at it, which is sad as well.

Those 3 were "sold" to BMW affiliates. They all stayed within BMW's Group Classic.

Some say They made 10 actually(4 maybe keep by bmw even there is some rumour 1 is not finished or keep very secretly but it's just rumoured) and 6 maybe sold to public even bmw never intended the car was sold to public so maybe all they keep it very secretly for the rest.So there is still debatable.

Does anybody know if an aftermarket company sells a front bumper similar to the gtr bumper to fit a oem e46 m3?
Search for "2m_autowerks" with google, or Instagram. They build and sell E46 GTR Racecar Kits (the second car in the video). They make them all by themselves. There's maybe a chance they can make the simpler one for the Streetversion of the Car.

Nope, it's illegal. It's way too loud for daily use. The street version have helical cut gears instead of straight cut gears because it's way quieter. Thought, it's not illegal to own one, i think. You could use that car as your "toy car" and drive on a race track but not on the street because, again, it's way too damn loud.

@Let Love Fly Free Honestly a cheap pushrod v8s seems wayyyy better to me. I used to think a racing German v8 would be awesome... until it costs +$25,000 and needs a full rebuild after 8000 miles. A Chevy engine can last 300,000+ miles and is dirt cheap. Plus they're really compact, lightweight if aluminum blocks and make amazing power.

Yeah they plan to make 10 but they only made 6 street M3 GTR and 3 street car are survive and the other 3 street car was shelved or recycle and there also 4 M3 GTR race car 2 Schnitzer M3 GTR and 2 PTG M3 GTR and the car are still survive to this day.

The car is so much lighter than a Mustang.. 2,976 pounds for this M3, based on a real race car and only 3 in the world. A mustang almost weighs 2X the weight of this. This is lighter than any modern Porsche. It’s the only BMW that’s road legal with the engine that it has, so parts are expensive you can’t just order them online. Tires are probably ridiculously expensive too. Bumper front and back and spoiler are also something you can’t replace, once destroyed that’s it game over. That’s why this car cost so much and worth a lot. Carbon roof which is another expensive part no other M3 e46 has except the CSLs. Transmission I believe is unique to this car.

That’s another great machine, that car was absolutely insane when it was racing against other M1s. Mclaren F1 as well, that S70/2 was the pinnacle and best result of what came out of BMW in the 90s, 600+HP out of an N/A engine, no other car today has more power Naturally aspirated. The new S58 is another example, that engine is so strong, 1000HP stock engine internals with no stress, yes I said 1000HP stock is what the New S58 can handle on stock internals with no wear and stress, BMW engines are fabulous in the right hands

As a matter of fact how much power were mustangs making from 4.6 liters back in 2001 when this car came out? Lol the 3.2 inline 6 made more power than a mustang back then.
