BCtruck, rebuild, repair, repurpose Be sure to add a diode to the positive generator wire or that battery will try to start your engine ...lol Good luck and take care
Scott Best Thanks Scott, A person I know gave me the engine and I needed something to build out of it. The generator made the most sense. Enjoyed building it, Take care
ShawnMrFixit Lee I bet you could give me some real pointers on generators. Is there an inexpensive voltage regulator that would help stabilize the voltage output? It's very RPM sensitive now. Around the mid 14 volts just off idea. Thanks Shawn
do you think it'd be possible to make this as an attachment to an existing weed eater, so if I want to use it as a generator to charge my electric bike (210w load + inverter inefficiency), then when I need to weed eat i could pop the generator out in a second and put the cutter back on?
Your videos are getting more and more professional by the day, Lloyd! :-) Now you can pack your laptop and head off into the depths of the forest and not miss a RUclips video. LoL Great little generator.
have you thought about putting a pma on it with a belt pully system? i hear good things about them and probably could produce more than the small motor you have just dont know if that lil engine could turn it enough to get the max out of it. good video though i like the small set up.
Rusty Glovebox how much power does it generate? Im sorry for my questions but if I made a gearbox to where the input quadrupled the output, is it possible to generate 120 volts Ac?
just what im looking for. I live in sweden and its not legal to put a engine on a bike. But its legal to have it working on electricity. So therefore i was thinking i could put this type of generator on so it charges the battery. The would be 100% legal and i could encreese the range very much. How much power did you get out of this?
I used a 12 volt dc motor and it will put out 12 volts + at about 4 amps. If you need a higher voltage you could use a 24 volt motor to get the higher voltage. Good luck.
thanks for answer. How long would it take to charge a battery with the 12 volt and the battery has the following specifications: Rated capacity: 10000(mah) Standard voltage: 36(v) Charging current: 2(A) Size: 390*110*75(mm) Charging interval: 5(H) Standard capacity: 2900mah Charging voltage: 42V Storage temperature: normal temperature Working temperature-10-50 degree Net Weight: 4200(g) Minimum capacity: 2850mah Internal resistance: 38-42ma Outgoing voltage: 36v Load voltage: 29V Nominal capacity: 10000mah Discharge current : 15A Output Plug from battery type: IEC
Kuk Huve you would need a boost charge controller or buck but your amps would drop and it wouldn't be the most efficient set up. A 36v motor out of a scooter might work
+99helldemon You could use a controller but because the battery is small, I just use a multi meter to check the battery volt. Keep it simple engineering...lol, Thanks and take care
nice job Lloyd, fun to see you come up with these ideas. thanks tom.
59chevt Thanks Tom , If you have an idea let me know . I'm thinking of sometime else to do now. Appreciate you
That is super legitimate. Clean build.
Just watched and subscribed! Great stuff! I love what you did here. Thanks for posting!
Rusty! Nice project, good attention to the details, thanks for posting Bud
+Harvey Spooner Well if it doesn't do much it has to look good doing it...lol
Very good indeed, I can see that table you got is already being put to good use!
Dan Whiteford You bet, That table made the work go a lot quicker...lol Thanks Dan
Very cool! I just picked up a weedeaters engine today. I'm looking for a motor now. I got to build me one of these.
BCtruck, rebuild, repair, repurpose Be sure to add a diode to the positive generator wire or that battery will try to start your engine ...lol Good luck and take care
wow Lloyd, thats a neat little piece of kit
Scott Best Thanks Scott, A person I know gave me the engine and I needed something to build out of it. The generator made the most sense. Enjoyed building it, Take care
Good build Lloyd , I like it !!
ShawnMrFixit Lee I bet you could give me some real pointers on generators. Is there an inexpensive voltage regulator that would help stabilize the voltage output? It's very RPM sensitive now. Around the mid 14 volts just off idea. Thanks Shawn
Pretty cool. I saw an old generator made out of a gas engine and an old generator. Made 110 looked like.
+MrHevyshevy For later I may try to convert an induction motor to generate, 110 at 60 cycles... we will see.
@@RustyGlovebox were you able to turn an induction motor into a generator?
Man, That is Finer Than Frog Hair. Ya are quite the Scientist, I think. It's Neat to see what you and others do and make just on a whim.
+Danny Walker When I run across something I thick what could be done with that...lol, Thanks for watching and take care
Good use of the little engine made for a good project outcome FINS UP 👍 👍
Eric Polston Thanks Eric, I had to figure out something to do with this engine and the generator seem the way to go. Take care
Very sweet! You so crafty!
+cutworm59 Thought it would make a good project...lol

THEWHITEBOY503 I bet you could. That sounds like a great idea 💡
Cool project. Nice work on the stand. Maybe put a box fan to keep you cool.
***** That's right and I had that setting on the other table. I needed a fan then...lol Thanks Mathew
That is awesome mate, your a very clever man indeed! love it.
Roodog Gonebush Thanks Roodog, It could be used as a camp generator if you don't need alot of power. Take care
Rusty Glovebox Perfect for that mate, was a cool project to watch thanks for showing us!
Nice Job Loyd.
Can you a ride along video in the V8 Bug sometime?
MIKE MAYERAN You bet, I got a windshield camera mount and that could be my first test for it. Thanks Mike
Rusty Glovebox Your welcome I really like that V8 Bug.
Thank's oldBRATTrider.
See their Loyd so start up that monster VW.
Your videos are getting more and more professional by the day, Lloyd! :-) Now you can pack your laptop and head off into the depths of the forest and not miss a RUclips video. LoL Great little generator.
Bruce Boschek Thanks Bruce, Yep sitting at the car show parking lot soaking up someones free wi-fi. ...lol
nice build
Elbows Malone Appreciate that, Glad you stopped by
Neat project, turned out good.
jevchance Thanks , I enjoyed building it and my use it a little . Take acre
I like that Lloyd.
ZIGgassedUP It may not pack much of a punch but might could get you out of a pinch...lol Thanks ZIG
pretty good idea, looks great!
+thedriver02 Thanks, worked out pretty good . Take care

If I could find one small enough a PMA would be a great choice. Thanks
I have a 4 stroke weed eater motor I would like to try this with. How many watts can these weed eater generators produce?
Very Cool and I Liked the Project - Very Interesting - T=up Lloyd
FixinThatUp Thanks Stan , It works pretty good and was happy of the way it turned out. See you later
Can you add a belt to power more motors and then create 120 V ac?
I bet you could. Always worth a try. But this small engine doesn't have much power.
Rusty Glovebox how much power does it generate? Im sorry for my questions but if I made a gearbox to where the input quadrupled the output, is it possible to generate 120 volts Ac?
Nice stand and Nice! Do you think it would power up a laptop, modem and router? Have a good'n
+geargriden19 I believe it would, the invertor is a square wave pattern and not a pure sine pattern. Makes a difference on some electronics
Thats awesome man!
Lil Doggy Thanks , it came out good and happy on how it performs. See ya
I was a little worried about cavitation, but looks like you have no issues. See you around bubba
very cool
Where did you find that Electric Brush Motor at?
+shartne You could use any 12 volt heater motor. Should work fine. Take care
do you know what amps its putting out.
I don't really but I would be surprised if it was any more that 10 amps max. Thanks
Rusty Glovebox I'd be surprised if it put out 5
Thats cool!! Im gunna do the same but you did not show where/how to install the diode.
Just install the diode in the positive wire to the battery with the band /stripe toward the battery. Good luck
Great build, but put a charging regulator on it too.
I agree, the regulator would be a plus.
Cool
wtbm123 Thanks, Glad you stopped by

how do you prevent the generator from over charging the battery? are you using some kind of charge controller?
+99helldemon You could use a controller but because the battery is small, I just use a multi meter to check the battery volt. Keep it simple engineering...lol, Thanks and take care
what kind of battery did you use?
It was a small battery the AG store had for deer feeders.
Where did you get your motor from?
It is a universal blower motor. The auto parts store can get them.
I have got to clean my building up so I can do projects like this.
Carolina Man They are alot of fun. I'm thinking of something else to try. Got any ideas - let me know. Take care
Time to convert it to an air conditioning unit. BTW, you do know that you can buy battery chargers really cheap at Harbor Freight? LOL Fun project.
The Shade Tree Fix-it Man That's an idea, an alternate source a/c . I got to think about that. Thank care George
you could add a switch to the motor and battery and boom electric start
I like that idea , sounds like the delux model. Thanks
All you need a large fule reservoir and this thing would last for hours.
Very true, thanks and take care
Cool little project....But sounds like it's not cool where you live...
tertessa Wow was toasty, not bad with the fan blowing but it's noisy on the video....lol Thanks
You should use a solar charge controller..so you dont cook your batteries..by overcharging
That's a good idea and worth a try. Thanks
I have 12v solar systems is this good for changing battery 12v ? I have 240ah ty :)
I think on the days that you don't have enough sun, it would be a good backup. Good luck.
Thats got to be the smallest generator I've ever seen. Even smaller than the old 400 watt Honda generators.
1970chevelle396 It was fun building it and could be useful as a backup power supply. Thanks , See ya later
