I have some relatives that paid to have their septic lines replaced. the people that they paid never actually replaced the septic lines and my relatives didn't know about it since they were unable to crawl under the house to look at the finished job. they didn't find out until the lines corroded and started leaking which caused their house to smell. so they had to pay someone else a lot of money to fix what should have already been done in the first place. contractors need to be regulated more cause they can just file bankruptcy and start a new business.

12:41 as a roofer for 20 years I rate your job about a three. The installation was good. I get that at 10 but -7 for sloppiness because the tar went too far up on the sides. And you also add a lot of tar that did not need to be added, which will melt and run off like rain and it will leave a trail of tar.

I wish they were close to me. About 5 years after I bought my home my one toilet was kind of wobbly. So I thought it was the wax ring. No problem. So I thought, pull off the toilet might as well remodel and add a new floor. So when I pulled the toilet I found out the whole flooring around the toilet was rotten. I had a friend go under the house and found out it was a "free fall". The toilet plumbing had about a 4" space that wasn't attached to any plumbing. Big gap! It's a no wonder I didn't have rodents in the house. When I bought the house I made sure the house was sealed everywhere for rodents. Seemed to work - so far. But I definitely have them outside.

      @krisholden5365 9 месяцев назад

I agree with this. However, based on the way that these larger, national companies are organized, it’s unfair to judge the whole company based on the work of an individual employee. Or, really, based on the work in any single area that they serve. I have to imagine that there are people in that company that work their tails off and go above and beyond for people every day. I also have to imagine that there are technicians that work for terrible managers who are being pressured to cut corners and make decisions based on what gets the biggest invoice instead of what’s best for the customer. Having been in that exact position before, I feel bad for them because they are essentially being forced to choose between doing the right thing for the customer and endangering their livelihood, or screwing over the customer and keeping the loser manager off of their backs. It’s a lose/lose situation and it took me a few months before I was able to leave that particular job. In the meantime, I tried to be as open and honest with the customer as possible without openly criticizing my employer and risking being reported to the company for it. It’s rough. I don’t envy anyone in that spot.

As a general contractor, I can see multiple problems with the plumbing. Basics were done improperly. Further, the so-called plumbers created safety issues. As for the pest control company, dealing with rodents is ALWAYS to find & seal ALL penetrations. Baiting & poisoning is senseless. Gaps & cracks in a structure are the equivalent of open doors for rodents & pests. Correct the issues that let them in vs the never-ending cycle of letting them in, killing them, letting the bodies pile up, letting more in, killing them, etc. Its hard to find competent people. It shouldn't be though.
The pest control company should have identified paths for rats to access the roof & recommended corrective action: keep rees & bushes trimmed a minimum of 4' from the dwelling, etc.

Great work, guys! Good to see that you stress how very important it is to modify Victor rat traps in order to achieve maximum success. My two golden rules are: Always SECURELY tie your bait to the trap's bait pedal, and always anchor your trap to something solid so the rat cannot drag the trap away. Those are the two most-important modifications to make to your traps.

14:30 I found that the electric traps work extremely well as well, with the main advantage that they catch all sizes of rodents. I have a small Victor out that the big mice seem to like to crawl into and 3 large rat traps that seem to catch the smaller mice (weird). Either way, the smal victor is $25CAD and the large rat trap $35CAD so not cheap. But combined with cheese and peanut butter chunks, they can't resist and the capture rate is high. The biggest problem with them are the batteries.

Professional rodent fella here also! Love the idea for the Victor metal trigger traps! They have a much larger failure rate due to the design of how the trigger slips off the holding bar.
I highly recommend the plastic yellow trigger Victor traps. Way less likely to have get always.

I've used it outdoors, placed up against a fence with a heavy but small plant pot upside down leaning against it to keep it secure and pushed up against the bottom of a fence. I've just setup a trail cam to try to spot rat tracks as a neighbour has spotted one during late afternoons then will try to target rats and see if have any success with the same device.

One small issue with the installation of the the new boot on the roof vent. Before I go there, let me say that I highly respect your work ethic. The level of heart you put into your work is so rare these days. I truly appreciate you! Now, because I know how much value you place on the longevity of your work (Flex Seal on metal mesh esc.): Wet Patch for the seal between the aluminum flange and asphault shingles is 💯👍🏽. The 1 issue I see is that Wet Patch is a petroleum based product and should not be used on the rubber portion of the boot as it will shorten the life of the rubber. There are sealing products designed specifically for rubber roofing systems that will maximize the life of that seal. Small detail, but very important. Leaks coming down the vent stack have a tendency to cause a lot of mold before anyone notices its happening. I wouldn't bother sharing if I weren't so sure you're just the kind of guys who will appreciate and make good use of the info. Keep up the great work, Twins!!

Roof Job: No support on the left side of the patch or as some would say "No scab". And the tar on the rubber gasket is just wrong. Using a rubber gloved hand to apply the tar - Most excellent Dude.
I put my traps in a box with a lid up against a hole that I cut in so the rat must come into my guillotine far enough to reach the bait. Pretty good score rate. Very few leg catches which can be dangerous. I was using string tied around the trigger but I'm going to cloth - Thanks. I'm sure the black trap you showed works - mine is cheaper and easier to store. Priority Mail Large Flat Rate Box?
That's the worse crap plumbing work I've ever seen. Obviously a two legged rat.

9:49 as a contractor & someone in the trades I loathe seeing garbage & cut-offs from remodels or original installs dealing w/ anything in the house & house included. Why not Hoover the stud bays before insulation goes in for exterior walls, interior walls can still be cleaned up; not leaving crap on top of electrical boxes, and muddying during Sheetrock time putting globs of mud in a box or place shouldn’t be & just leaving it, UGH. pet peeve of mine, as learned as an apprentice long ago, work clean, cleanup at end of day & clean/organize tools before leave site…..ALSO; INCOMING ITEMS ARE NOT WORK BENCHES, SAY BATHTUBS , PPL LOVE PUTTING CARDBOARD OVER & MAKING A TABLE & this homeowners new tub, like seriously, gotta stop doing, same w/ kitchen countertops & appliances etc….
K, rant over but love the work guys do & clean stuff up👍🏻👍🏻
    Cheers✌🏻

Rats can go right through spray foam, no? I noticed you filled in gaps in the attic around the A/C lines with it.

I have been watching/learning so much from this channel, it's fantastic! I was curious if these guys offset prices based on yt income? It's not something that they would have to do, especially being this thorough and competent but they seem like nice guys that would think about that. Then I saw that the equipment they use is pretty top of the line, maybe they buy equipment with the money? I'm just curious how different RUclipsrs use this income.

For the Victor trap, you can seal off the rear of the trap with butyl tape. So the rat can't come in from behind. Good video from Sacramento

@4mins the electro static on that lightbulb isn’t good. Especially if it’s attracting insulation and the bulb is off. Also all the insulation on the attic access panel. That shows that no one has been up there or used another access point to get in the attic. Alit of shortcuts in remodeling this house.

Hello, very good job! Just two question. First, why don't you never try "Gorilla trap", do you know this german brand? Many difference with Victor's trap. Two, why do you never use glove? Rats have a very good sens of smell and are very prudent with human smelling.
So, maybe you could make a "trap competition" in a rat's infested place.

Actually ceilings can be 2 feet on center along with the roof because it doesn’t hold a lot of weight. It’s only supporting the roof to the rest of the house.
