    @5:13 candy crush seriousness killed it :D However, author is missing important part of the comparison - how this will work on Mac/Linux. DisplayFusion looks like to be missing for them and no good alternative. So it kinda renders monitor splitting harder and cumbersome.

    • @ApplicableProgramming
      @ApplicableProgramming  10 месяцев назад +1

      That is true. I tried several options on mac, and they are all OK, but obviously inferior to the DisplayFusion on the Windows for sure.
      Having that said, same functionality can be achieved, and if you do not know of anythjing better - you will be just fine with few extra mouse clicks :)

    I appreciate for sharing your opinions and setup. It supported me in my decision to search for a ultrawide monitor. In near future I intend to get a ultrawide and go for a mini pc, but I'm settling now for getting a smaller but vertical monitor plus my current Acer i7 notebook. That's the best for now I can afford and it'll be a good step for productivity, but as soon as I can upgrade, an ultrawide would really make a change.

    What about the price aspect? I guess 2 monitors separetly would cost less than an ultra wide
    Anyways great video, love your content

    • @ApplicableProgramming
      @ApplicableProgramming  Год назад +1

      Thanks! Yes, you can for sure get two regular monitors for less. But if you would purchase two 1440p screens of similar panel quality, like two U2722D, then they cost pretty much the same (at least here in Norway). So... I wanted to initially purchase two new monitors, or one good and use the existing old one I had, but then I figured that for very little difference in price, the versatility and "cool" factor in my eyes of the ultrawide, I would actually get more for same money...

    I wasn't aware of RegionToShare; thanks for sharing this knowledge. I discovered your channel 3 days ago, and I feel very represented. I have a 49" monitor, a streamdeck (it's a productivity beast!), and I use an ergonomic keyboard too! (I had the MS Sculpt and now the Logi K860) . I am also a programmer (17 years as a pro), and soon I'll be releasing my own videos on RUclips. Soooo a brother from another country :)
    I've been interested in using teleprompters in meetings to maintain more eye contact. How do you use it? For video scripts, you can use your phone, but for meetings, do you have a separate small screen and you put the meeting window? Do you share your meeting window on the mobile screen? What model of teleprompter are you using, and would you recommend it? Sorry for asking so many questions, I'm genuinely interested.

    I have an opposing opinion.
    Looking to go back to triples instead of UW (right now I actually have both I have 2 regular monitors with a UW in center for best of both)
    Something like the U4919DW is only 1440P when I really feel like we should be in “4K” territory at that size.
    UW while immersive for gaming is not nearly as immersive as triple monitors.
    With a big desk you can fit a 21:9 and two 16:9 monitors and still have good ergonomics this keeps the magic number of “3” as in 3 monitors.
    Going to a single 32:9 ultra ultra wide now your stuck with 2 monitors. No longer is there enough room or is it ergonomic to add two side monitors to keep the rule of 3.
    Also surround gaming from both AMD and Nvidia does not work when mixing a UW with a standard monitor (shame else my current setup would be perfect)
    I was really disappointed to find out that a 27+34+27 combo with the same vertical resolution of 1440px can not be spanned in surround despite the fact they have added mixed resolution support years ago so that is why I am about to get 3x Neo G8 monitors for 3x 4K.
    My original plan was to have a single UW for games that do not support surround, or performance penalty is too great in surround and still have 3x monitors for productivity and a super surround setup for sims and other games that take advantage of it.
    So since getting my first UW a few years back have not had any surround options and been stuck with just 1 UW for gaming, and seen and felt the "issues" trying to use a UW as a normal aspect ratio monitor for productivity work.
    Upgrading to a super ultra-wide like the Neo G9 might scratch the itch for immersion but would completely ruin productivity, no way I would realistically fit 2 monitors next to it anymore, and if I did it would be super unergonomic.
    Region to share, Fancy Zones, etc all the things to make UW sort of behave like a monitor never can replicate the pure function and convenience of actually having multiple monitors and I say this because I have tried and always had a 3 monitor setup for the last 15 years and had a UW for at least the last four and tried every program out there, even reviewed some of them as I used to work for Wide Screen Gaming Forum.
    Too many programs act differently as to how they get positioned, resized, or full screened and being a person that is always using 3 screens at once no way to go back to a single big UW.
    BTW try something like Moonlight for game streaming its a NIGHTMARE streaming from a 21:9 to a 4K TV.
    Work Mode: Outlook on left montior, Teams on right, working in center.
    Streaming Mode: OBS on left monitor, gaming or screen casting from center, Discord/Twitch/etc on right.
    Video Editing Mode: Content sources on left monitor, editing on center, right monitor is a full size preview window.
    ETC
    Always 3 is the magic number for productivity so until they make a UUUW that is either a 16:9 *3 or 16:10 *3 aspect ratio triple monitors still will be king.
    The oldest worry in the book is the bezels being in the way for immersion when gaming, and even 12 years ago using old monitors with much thicker bezels that was never an issue, you just don't see them they disappear as you really only look at the front monitor and the sides are just for peripheral vision.
    So many people have gone UW or UUW and have compromised and made it work, but they either never had a 3x monitor setup with a highly productive workflow, or they just let the new shiny thing take over in their mind as "worth it"

    • @ApplicableProgramming
      @ApplicableProgramming  6 месяцев назад

      Well... I used two and three monitor setup, both on work and in my other office, and I always found my productivity much better on the ultrawide. But here I am not referring to only number of pixels, but overall productivity which accounts for how much I want to sit at the monitor (developer satisfaction), how much work I get done in total, and other things that contribute to that

    Hi, I tried out Ultrawide a while ago and it wasn't for me as I much more prefer 2x27inch monitors for usability where you can keep stuff much more separated: For example watching a RUclips video in Fullscreen on the one side while "working" on the other side 🙂Does this monitor support "Picture by Picture" mode where you can connect 2 cables which connect to the same computer but this way splitting it up in 2 separate monitors? Basically the same as if you connect 2x27inch monitors but without the gap in the center.

    • @ApplicableProgramming
      @ApplicableProgramming  Год назад

      hi. Not sure to be honest, I guess you could do that from the PC side. Someone asked same in comments. It does support side by side for two inputs, but not sure how communication between a monitor and pc happens.
      But would you not get the same with DisplayFusion or something similar, as I've shown in the video? Also, could you think of working without youtube in full screen? :)

      The samsung G9 offers PBP, im in the middle of deciding between 49 or the new 57 inch, going from 3x 27 inch monitors as it will keep my workspace cleaner, less cables and my productivity will boost from the cleanliness alone! if i find im "Out of space" ill mount one of my 27 inch monitors on the wall above but i dont see that happening when going from 2x1080 1 x1440 to a monitor that is 1440p right across (or 4k with the 57 inch)

      @@CyanPh03nix wow I didn't even know there is 57 inch one. that would be really cool to experience. I would personally like to see how VA panel behaves on that size+curve, especially since you cannot tilt it as if you would do with three monitors

    I work more on vmwares, scripting and terminals. Is triple monitor setup better or wide monitor is better?
    Also, with the wide monitor, you able to see the words clearly without moving your head towards to screen?

    • @ApplicableProgramming
      @ApplicableProgramming  6 месяцев назад +1

      well.. good question. I guess both setups can support 5-6 windows at the same time comfortably. But it that is the only use-case you use it for, then maybe 3 monitor setup works just fine. Ultrawide is good for changing the layout from time to time depending on the task at hand. It can support multiple workflows and usecases, wheres 3 screen setup can only do that one thing. 3 screens, or eventually splitting each in half - nothing in between
      How many windows do you need to see at the same time?
